Top Wilmington Drug and Alcohol Addiction Centers

Wilmington was founded in 1858 by Phineas Banning, who dredged the mudflats and built the wharf that made Los Angeles a port city at all. The refineries and the port still dominate the neighborhood. Our team works to check each listing against SAMHSA records, California DHCS licensing and, where a provider holds it, Joint Commission or CARF accreditation. State licensing is specific to the services a provider may deliver. The Wilmington listings follow below.

Drug and Alcohol Rehabs in Wilmington, CA

Wilmington was founded in 1858 by Phineas Banning, who dredged the mudflats and built the wharf that made Los Angeles a port city at all.

Banning’s house of 1864 still stands as a museum, and the Drum Barracks nearby was the Union Army’s headquarters for the southwest during the Civil War — the last surviving wooden building of that period in the region.

The neighborhood now holds the densest concentration of oil refineries in Los Angeles County, alongside container terminals and rail yards, with housing directly adjoining them.

That land use pattern has driven decades of community organizing over air quality, and Wilmington is among the most studied environmental justice communities in California.

Pacific Coast Highway, Avalon Boulevard and the 110 connect it, with San Pedro west and Long Beach east.

Los Angeles County recorded 2,298 accidental drug overdose and poisoning deaths in 2025, a 6 percent fall from the previous year and the third consecutive annual decline, according to the county Department of Public Health. Deaths are down nearly 30 percent from the 2022 peak of 3,220, driven by a more than 40 percent reduction in fentanyl-related deaths.

The county’s own analysis found fentanyl overdose death rates nearly four times higher in its least affluent areas — those where more than 30 percent of families live below the federal poverty level — than in its most affluent, at 39.1 against 10.0 per 100,000 in 2024. Wilmington sits firmly in the first of those categories.

Which Level of Care Do You Need

Wilmington carries one listed program — a licensed opioid treatment program — with San Pedro and Long Beach minutes away. Counts come from the federal SAMHSA treatment locator.

Medically Supervised Detox

Detox manages withdrawal under clinical observation across several days. None operate in Wilmington; around one sits in San Pedro and three in Long Beach within fifteen minutes.

Inpatient Residential Treatment

Residential care means living on site for weeks or months. Around 31 residential programs sit within fifteen minutes across San Pedro and Long Beach, of roughly 222 countywide.

Outpatient, IOP and PHP Treatment

Outpatient care lets you keep working while attending sessions. The local program offers outpatient care and methadone, one of 35 licensed opioid treatment programs across Los Angeles County.

Dual Diagnosis and Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment

Dual diagnosis care treats a substance use disorder and a mental health condition together rather than one after the other. Around 11 San Pedro programs treat co-occurring serious mental illness, of roughly 187 across the county.

Sober Living Homes and Transitional Living

Sober living homes provide substance-free housing after formal treatment ends. Certification of California recovery residences is by the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals rather than the state.

Addiction Treatment Cost and Insurance Coverage

Refinery, port and trucking work brings injury, and the local program’s Medi-Cal acceptance matters more than its size suggests.

How Much Does Addiction Rehab Cost in Wilmington

Outpatient care within reach runs roughly $1,200 to $5,000 a month and IOP $3,000 to $10,000, with detox at $7,000 to $24,000 and residential at $6,000 to $45,000. The Wilmington program accepts Medicaid and Medicare and provides services in Spanish.

Medi-Cal covers medication for opioid use disorder with no premium and no copay, including methadone through a licensed program — and one of those is in the neighborhood. Los Angeles County provides no-cost substance use treatment at any provider in its network for anyone who meets the criteria, regardless of immigration status, and an intake appointment should be scheduled within ten calendar days of a screening.
