Top Westside Costa Mesa Drug and Alcohol Addiction Centers

Westside Costa Mesa lies between Placentia Avenue and the Santa Ana River, the industrial half of a city better known for its arts district and shopping. Light manufacturing still occupies much of the ground.

We aim to check each provider against SAMHSA records, California DHCS licensing and Joint Commission or CARF accreditation where it applies. Providers in South Coast Metro appear under a separate page. Start from the Westside Costa Mesa listings shown here.

Rehabs by setting in Costa Mesa

Other parts of Costa Mesa, and what each is near.

Why Trust RehabSeekers.com?

RehabSeekers is an independent behavioral health directory covering drug and alcohol addiction and mental health treatment providers.

Every listing has a source. From an official register, or added and checked by our team.

Credentials shown honestly. Accreditation, licensing and registration listed separately.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Contact details always go direct. Calls reach the facility itself, never a call centre.

Do you run a treatment service?

If it is already listed, claim it to correct details, add photographs and reply to reviews. If it is not listed, add it.

Free, wherever you are. Nothing you do here changes where you appear.

Drug and Alcohol Rehabs in Westside Costa Mesa, CA

Westside Costa Mesa lies between Placentia Avenue and the Santa Ana River, the industrial half of a city better known for its arts district.

For most of the twentieth century this was nurseries and light manufacturing — Costa Mesa was a growing region before it was a city, and the Westside is where that survived longest.

It has been redeveloping since the 2000s, with former industrial buildings converted into breweries, studios and workshops, though the working character has not disappeared.

The neighborhood has a substantially larger Latino population than the rest of the city, and the Westside has been the subject of a long-running planning argument about how much of it should change.

Placentia Avenue, Victoria Street and 19th Street connect it, with Interstate 405 north and Huntington Beach across the river.

Orange County recorded 407 fentanyl-related deaths in 2024, down from 613 in 2023 and a five-year low, according to the Sheriff-Coroner report published in November 2025. The county rose from 20 such deaths in 2015 to a peak of 717 in 2021 before the decline began.

Orange County holds around 263 listed treatment programs, of which roughly 156 are residential — more than twice the residential capacity of San Diego County in a smaller area. Around 100 accept TRICARE and 138 offer services for veterans, while only 44 accept Medicaid.

Around 50 Orange County programs provide services in Spanish, and interpretation is a legal requirement rather than a courtesy for any program receiving federal funding.

Which Level of Care Do You Need

Costa Mesa’s provision sits on the doorstep, with Santa Ana and Fountain Valley within fifteen minutes. Counts come from the federal SAMHSA treatment locator.

Medically Supervised Detox

Detox manages withdrawal under clinical observation across several days. Around 16 detox programs sit within fifteen minutes across Costa Mesa and Santa Ana, of roughly 68 across Orange County.

Inpatient Residential Treatment

Residential care means living on site for weeks or months. Around 39 residential programs sit within reach across the two cities, one of the highest concentrations anywhere in the state.

Outpatient, IOP and PHP Treatment

Outpatient care lets you keep working while attending sessions. Around 37 outpatient, 14 intensive outpatient and 17 partial hospitalization programs sit within fifteen minutes.

Dual Diagnosis and Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment

Dual diagnosis care treats a substance use disorder and a mental health condition together rather than one after the other. Around ten programs within reach treat co-occurring serious mental illness, of roughly 84 across Orange County.

Sober Living Homes and Transitional Living

Sober living homes provide substance-free housing after formal treatment ends, and Costa Mesa holds one of the largest concentrations of recovery residences in California. Certification is by the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals rather than state licensure.

Addiction Treatment Cost and Insurance Coverage

Where public coverage is concerned, Santa Ana is the more useful direction from here than the coast.

How Much Does Addiction Rehab Cost in Westside Costa Mesa

Outpatient care within reach runs roughly $1,200 to $5,000 a month and IOP $3,000 to $10,000, with detox at $7,000 to $24,000 and residential at $6,000 to $45,000. Around 11 programs within fifteen minutes accept Medicaid — seven of them in Santa Ana rather than Costa Mesa — and 12 run sliding fee scales.

Medi-Cal in California is open to income-eligible adults regardless of immigration status, and applying does not affect immigration proceedings or a future green card application.

Does Insurance Cover Rehab in Westside Costa Mesa

Yes. Federal parity law requires most health plans to cover substance use treatment on terms comparable to medical care. Within fifteen minutes around 11 programs accept Medicaid, nine accept Medicare and 14 accept TRICARE, with 12 running sliding fee scales.

Under California Health and Safety Code section 11834.015, every licensed adult treatment facility must hold at least one DHCS Level of Care Designation or a residential ASAM Level of Care Certification. Any legitimate program can tell you which it holds, and the DHCS Licensing and Certification Division directory lets you check.

Free and State-Funded Addiction Rehab in Westside Costa Mesa, CA

Orange County delivers publicly funded treatment through its Drug Medi-Cal Organized Delivery System, administered by the OC Health Care Agency.

Only around 44 of the county’s 263 programs accept Medicaid, so the county access route is the practical way in.

OC Links on 855-625-4657 is free, confidential and staffed 24 hours a day, with interpretation available, and can refer anywhere in the county system.

Around 57 county programs run sliding fee scales, and naloxone distribution has expanded countywide as part of the county’s overdose response.

More Help and Recovery Support

Hoag Hospital Newport Beach is around fifteen minutes south with a full emergency department, and Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana is a designated trauma center a similar distance northeast. UCI Medical Center in Orange is the county’s Level I trauma center.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets daily across Costa Mesa and Santa Ana through the Orange County Central Office, with Spanish-language groups available. Narcotics Anonymous operates through the Orange County Region, and federally qualified health centers in the area provide primary care on a sliding scale.
