Rehabs by setting in Riverside

Where each part of the area sits, and what is on its doorstep.

Why Trust RehabSeekers.com?

RehabSeekers is an independent behavioral health directory covering drug and alcohol addiction and mental health treatment providers.

Every listing has a source. From an official register, or added and checked by our team.

Credentials shown honestly. Accreditation, licensing and registration listed separately.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Contact details always go direct. Calls reach the facility itself, never a call centre.

Do you run a treatment service?

If it is already listed, claim it to correct details, add photographs and reply to reviews. If it is not listed, add it.

Free, wherever you are. Nothing you do here changes where you appear.

Drug and Alcohol Rehabs in Riverside, CA

Riverside sits on the Santa Ana River at the western edge of its county, the largest city in the Inland Empire.

Two Brazilian navel orange trees planted here in 1873 seeded the entire California citrus industry; one of the originals still stands at Magnolia and Arlington and is a state historic landmark.

The Mission Inn, built between 1876 and 1931, occupies a full city block and is among the largest Mission Revival buildings in the country. UC Riverside opened in 1954 and has around 26,000 students.

Highways 91, 60 and 215 all meet here, putting downtown Los Angeles around an hour west and Palm Springs an hour east.

California recorded a drug overdose death rate roughly 6 percent below the national figure in 2024, and Southern California drove much of the improvement.

Los Angeles County recorded a 22 percent fall in overdose deaths that year, from 3,137 to 2,438, the largest single-year drop in its history, and fentanyl deaths fell below methamphetamine deaths for the first time in years.

Methamphetamine was involved in 62 percent of accidental overdose deaths in Los Angeles County in 2024, up from 60 percent, while fentanyl involvement fell to 52 percent from 64 percent.

Riverside County participates in the Drug Medi-Cal Organized Delivery System, live since February 2017, which covers a full continuum of care assessed against American Society of Addiction Medicine criteria. Every Southern California county runs the system, which is not true across much of the north.

Which Level of Care Do You Need

The sections below set out what each level of care involves and how it is funded locally.

Medically Supervised Detox

Detox manages withdrawal under clinical observation, usually across several days, and is where treatment begins for anyone physically dependent on alcohol, opioids or benzodiazepines. It typically runs three to seven days for alcohol and five to ten for opioids. Alcohol and benzodiazepine withdrawal can be dangerous without medical supervision, which is why this level exists.

Inpatient Residential Treatment

Residential care provides a structured live-in setting for weeks or months, usually 30, 60 or 90 days. It suits people who have completed detox, who have tried outpatient care without it holding, or whose home circumstances make recovery difficult.

Outpatient, IOP and PHP Treatment

Outpatient care lets you live at home while attending sessions. Partial hospitalization runs most of the day several days a week; intensive outpatient runs a few hours several times a week; standard outpatient is lighter still. Most people step down through these rather than stopping after residential care.

Dual Diagnosis and Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment

Dual diagnosis care treats a substance use disorder and a mental health condition together rather than in sequence. Around half of people with a substance use disorder also have a diagnosable mental health condition, and treating one without the other tends not to hold.

Sober Living Homes and Transitional Living

Sober living homes provide drug-free housing after formal treatment ends. This directory does not list recovery residences separately. California certifies recovery residences through the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals and regional affiliates of the National Alliance for Recovery Residences.

Addiction Treatment Cost and Insurance Coverage

Riverside County has run the Drug Medi-Cal Organized Delivery System since February 2017, among the earliest counties in California, so the access line can place you anywhere in the county rather than in one city.

How Much Does Addiction Rehab Cost in Riverside

Detox in Riverside runs roughly $7,000 to $24,000 a month, residential $6,000 to $45,000, PHP $7,500 to $15,000, IOP $3,000 to $10,000 and outpatient $1,200 to $5,000. Luxury and executive programs elsewhere in Southern California reach $30,000 to $90,000 or more. Medi-Cal covers substance use treatment with no premium and no copay for most members.

Because the county runs the Drug Medi-Cal Organized Delivery System, a Medi-Cal member is assessed against American Society of Addiction Medicine criteria and referred to the level of care that assessment indicates, rather than to whatever happens to be contracted locally. The county access line handles that referral free of charge.

Does Insurance Cover Rehab in Riverside

Yes. Federal parity law requires most health plans to cover substance use treatment on terms comparable to medical care. Inland Empire Health Plan and Molina Healthcare are the Medi-Cal managed care plans across Riverside County.

Ask about Spanish-language provision when you call. Treatment works considerably better in a first language, and several county providers offer it. California extended full-scope Medi-Cal to income-eligible adults regardless of immigration status in 2024.

Free and State-Funded Addiction Rehab in Riverside, CA

Publicly funded care is available across the county.

An eligibility check for Medi-Cal costs nothing, and Inland Empire Health Plan covers members across the county.

Riverside County’s access line assesses and refers under DMC-ODS at no charge, on 800-499-3008.

The California Naloxone Distribution Project supplies naloxone free to community organizations, and Never Use Alone on 800-484-3731 stays on the line with people using alone.

More Help and Recovery Support

Riverside University Health System Medical Center in Moreno Valley is the county hospital and a level two trauma center. Loma Linda University Medical Center in neighboring San Bernardino County is the region’s level one trauma center, serving a catchment across the whole Inland Empire.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets daily across Riverside and the Inland Empire, including a substantial Spanish-language schedule, and UC Riverside supports students in recovery. Narcotics Anonymous operates a large Southern California region. Adjacent Moreno Valley, Corona, Eastvale and Norco carry further options.
