Treatment Centers in Connecticut That Accept Humana

Humana covers drug and alcohol rehab in Connecticut for two groups: people on Humana Medicare plans, which Humana lists by ZIP code, and military families on TRICARE, which Humana Military runs in the East Region. Humana no longer writes employer medical plans, after deciding in 2023 to leave that business, and it has no role in HUSKY Health.

Each program card shows Humana members a phone line and services, such as a detox bed, a residential unit, intensive outpatient sessions or an opioid treatment clinic, and an accreditation note for CARF and The Joint Commission. The sources are government registers and Connecticut license records. Narrow the cards by town, then ask a program about your Humana plan.

Does Humana Cover Rehab in Connecticut?

Yes, for Humana Medicare Advantage members and for TRICARE beneficiaries served by Humana Military. Both cover inpatient, outpatient and medication treatment for substance use when medically necessary, and Humana Behavioral Health, Humana’s own subsidiary, supports its members’ behavioral care. Programs among the treatment centers across Connecticut that bill Humana Medicare and TRICARE are listed on this page.

Humana Inc., based in Louisville, now gets almost all of its business from government programs: Medicare Advantage, Medicare drug plans, Medicare Supplement, state Medicaid contracts and the TRICARE East contract. In Connecticut that leaves Humana Medicare plans, offered by ZIP code, and TRICARE East, which Humana Military has held under the current contract since January 1, 2025.

Does Humana Cover Inpatient Rehab in Connecticut?

Yes. TRICARE covers emergency and nonemergency inpatient rehab under TRICARE and residential substance use rehabilitation, and a Humana Medicare Advantage plan may not cover less than Original Medicare does. That means Part A’s inpatient benefit, which pays for psychiatric and substance use stays in a hospital but stops paying for freestanding psychiatric hospital care after 190 lifetime days.

How long will Humana pay for residential rehab?

Neither Humana Military nor Humana Medicare publishes a day limit; the length of a stay depends on medical necessity. For TRICARE, Humana Military runs concurrent stay management after admission, and the Medicare plans apply Original Medicare’s rules plus their own per-day copays, which in Humana’s named 2026 plan documents from Texas and Michigan stop after the first several days.

Does Humana need prior authorization for inpatient rehab?

Yes, for TRICARE. A planned inpatient admission for substance use or mental health, or any residential treatment center stay, must be authorized by Humana Military in advance, through its portal or at 800-444-5445. Emergency admissions get concurrent management within 24 to 72 hours instead. Humana Medicare plans list their own authorization rules in each plan’s evidence of coverage.

Does Humana Cover Detox in Connecticut?

Yes. TRICARE covers detoxification, which it calls withdrawal management, as a medically necessary service, and the TRICARE detox programs listed here can admit members once Humana Military authorizes a nonemergency stay. Humana Medicare Advantage plans cover inpatient detox in a hospital on Original Medicare’s terms, subject to each plan’s per-day copays and network rules.

Does Humana Cover Outpatient Rehab in Connecticut?

Yes. TRICARE covers TRICARE intensive outpatient care, partial hospitalization and office-based opioid treatment, and family members and retirees on TRICARE Prime can usually book outpatient counseling with no referral or authorization. Active duty members normally receive care through military hospitals or clinics first, and TRICARE excludes aversion therapy and unproven treatments from coverage.

Humana Medicare Advantage plans cover outpatient therapy, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient services and Medicare outpatient rehab services for substance use. Humana’s named 2026 plan documents list each of those as a covered benefit with its own copay, and some Humana Medicare plans include mental health visits by video at no extra cost.

Does Humana Cover Suboxone, Methadone and Other Addiction Medications?

Yes. Medication-assisted treatment is a TRICARE benefit whether given in a doctor’s office or a licensed clinic, and Medicare covers methadone, buprenorphine and naltrexone through Part B opioid treatment programs, which Humana Medicare Advantage plans must match. Take-home addiction treatment medications filled at a Connecticut pharmacy fall under each Humana plan’s Part D drug list.

Does Humana cover Suboxone?

Yes. A Humana Medicare member can get Suboxone or other buprenorphine from an opioid treatment program under Part B or fill it at a pharmacy under the plan’s Part D coverage. TRICARE covers Suboxone under TRICARE as office-based opioid treatment. The copay for a Humana Medicare member depends on the plan’s drug list and tier for that year.

Does Humana cover methadone?

Yes. Original Medicare charges nothing for opioid treatment program care once the Part B deductible is paid, and Humana Medicare Advantage plans show methadone clinic care with their own cost share; a 2026 CarePlus plan in Florida set it at zero. TRICARE pays for TRICARE methadone programs with concurrent management by Humana Military.

Humana Rehab Centers Near Mystic Harbor, Milford Beaches and Bradley Airport

Humana’s Connecticut members choose a setting under one of two very different sets of rules. A Humana Medicare HMO pays network programs, while a Humana Medicare PPO can pay out-of-network programs that agree to treat the member. TRICARE pays authorized network providers, and Humana Military authorizes residential care the same way on the coast as inland.

Humana rehab near Mystic and the harbors

Humana members drawn to the eastern shoreline find Mystic Harbor and the Mystic River estuary between Groton and Stonington, close to the Thames River towns. Those interested in rehabs near marinas and harbors or Pawcatuck treatment programs near the Rhode Island line use the same Humana Military or Medicare plan rules there.

Humana rehab near Milford beaches

Humana Medicare members near Milford have Silver Sands and Walnut Beach, which face Long Island Sound between New Haven and Stratford. Those looking at coastal recovery programs or Milford rehab centers should find out whether the program belongs to the plan’s network, since a Medicare HMO pays network providers only outside an emergency.

Humana rehab near Bradley International Airport

Humana Military’s TRICARE families can reach the Hartford area and western Massachusetts through Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks. Those who fly in for treatment, or relatives visiting them, can look at rehabs near major airports and Enfield recovery centers a few miles north, with Humana Military authorizing nonemergency admissions.

How Do I Find a Rehab That Accepts Humana in Connecticut?

Browse the listings on this page. Humana coverage is accepted at each program shown, and every entry lists phone, services and accreditation. Town, service and substance filters trim the list, and TRICARE rehab listings and Medicare listings each have their own page.

Humana admission depends on the plan named on the card. TRICARE members or their program ask Humana Military for prior authorization of a nonemergency inpatient or residential stay. Humana Medicare members follow the plan’s own authorization list and call the member number on the card. The table below lists Humana’s Connecticut products and their benefit lines.

Humana rehab in Groton and New London

Humana Military serves Navy and Coast Guard families in Groton and New London as TRICARE beneficiaries in the East Region. Active duty members normally start in military clinics, while family members on TRICARE Prime can see outpatient counselors at Groton rehab services without a referral.

Humana rehab in Hartford

Humana Medicare Advantage members around Hartford start with the plan type. HMO plans such as Humana Gold Plus pay network providers, PPO plans such as HumanaChoice can pay other providers who agree to treat the member. Humana’s named 2026 plan documents list partial hospitalization and opioid treatment as covered benefits, including at Frog Hollow treatment programs and beyond.

Humana rehab in New Haven

Not every Humana Medicare Advantage plan continues into 2027: Humana said in September 2026 that some plans would not return, mailed notices by October 2, and named no counties. A New Haven member who received a notice keeps coverage through December 31, 2026 at The Hill rehab programs or elsewhere, then needs a new plan.

Humana rehab in Bridgeport and Stratford

Humana USAA Honor Giveback plans, built for veterans but open to anyone with Medicare, added zero copays for in-network mental health care for 2026 in the states where they are sold. A Bridgeport-area veteran can ask Humana whether one is offered in their home ZIP code before using Stratford addiction care.

Can I use Humana for rehab in a different state?

Yes, within each program’s rules. TRICARE is national, with Humana Military running the East Region and TriWest the West, so care in another state follows the same authorization rules. A Humana Medicare PPO can pay non-network providers willing to see the member, though it costs more, while a Humana Medicare HMO pays out-of-area care mainly in emergencies and urgent situations.

How much does rehab cost with Humana?

Humana Medicare costs come from each plan’s summary of benefits. Plans typically charge a set amount per visit and a per-day hospital copay limited to the first several days, with an annual cap on in-network spending. TRICARE costs depend on the beneficiary group and the TRICARE option chosen.

Does Humana still sell employer plans in Connecticut?

No. On February 23, 2023, Humana said it was leaving employer group medical coverage, including insured, self-funded and federal plans, with the wind-down taking up to two years. Any Connecticut employer that had Humana medical coverage needed a new carrier, and Humana kept only group Medicare, dental and vision for employers.

In Connecticut, Humana mainly pays for treatment for older adults and military families. Listings here also show Medicare MAT programs and programs that accept Medicaid rehab coverage, which matters for Medicare members who also qualify for HUSKY Health through HUSKY C.
