Treatment Centers in Connecticut That Accept UnitedHealthcare

In Connecticut, UnitedHealthcare pays for drug and alcohol rehab on its Choice Plus, Options PPO and other employer plans, on All Savers plans for small businesses, and on Medicare Advantage, Dual Complete included. Optum Behavioral Health, part of UnitedHealth Group, decides authorization for detox, residential and intensive outpatient care.

Every Connecticut program below shows a phone number, the treatment it delivers, from hospital withdrawal care through day treatment and counseling to prescribing, and a line naming CARF or The Joint Commission when either accredits the program. These facts come from government treatment registers and Connecticut license records. Narrow by town, then call to talk through your UnitedHealthcare coverage.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Does UnitedHealthcare Cover Rehab in Connecticut?

Yes. UnitedHealthcare employer and Medicare Advantage plans sold in Connecticut cover substance use treatment as a behavioral health benefit, and a 2025 Choice Plus certificate issued to one employer spells out inpatient, residential, day treatment, intensive outpatient and office care. Programs that bill UnitedHealthcare health plans are among the substance use programs in Connecticut listed here.

UnitedHealthcare’s Connecticut provider page lists Choice and Choice Plus, Options PPO, Choice Advanced, NexusACO, tiered benefit plans, All Savers and Surest for employers, plus Connecticut Medicare Advantage, group Medicare Advantage, Dual Complete special needs plans and a nursing home plan. Oxford Health Plans is a separate UnitedHealthcare brand. Behavioral care for all of them runs through Optum Behavioral Health.

Does UnitedHealthcare Cover Inpatient Rehab in Connecticut?

Yes, where the plan covers it. That 2025 Choice Plus certificate covers hospital addiction treatment and residential substance use care as part of its Substance-Related and Addictive Disorders Services benefit. A UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plan has to match Original Medicare’s inpatient behavioral benefit at a minimum, including stays in a general or psychiatric hospital.

How long will UnitedHealthcare pay for residential rehab?

UnitedHealthcare decides the length of each stay through Optum’s medical necessity process rather than a fixed day count. Optum has used The ASAM Criteria nationwide for substance use decisions since November 13, 2021, except where state law or a contract sets different rules, so a stay in residential rehab settings lasts while the criteria support it.

Does UnitedHealthcare need prior authorization for inpatient rehab?

Yes, for many admissions. Under the same 2025 Choice Plus certificate, Optum must authorize a planned non-network admission at least five business days in advance, and day treatment and intensive outpatient programs need authorization too. Optum, legally United Behavioral Health, takes these requests through the card’s behavioral number, and an out-of-network member who skips the step pays more.

Does UnitedHealthcare Cover Detox in Connecticut?

Yes. UnitedHealthcare plans cover hospital-based detox programs within the inpatient substance use benefit, and the same ASAM-based Optum process decides the level of withdrawal management. Medicare Advantage members are covered for inpatient detox in a general or psychiatric hospital at least on the terms Original Medicare sets, with cost sharing from the plan’s own summary of benefits.

Does UnitedHealthcare Cover Outpatient Rehab in Connecticut?

Yes. That Choice Plus certificate covers outpatient office visits for mental health and substance use with no annual visit limit stated, plus partial hospitalization with insurance and intensive outpatient care with insurance, both after prior authorization. Optum also lets members book in-person or virtual therapy appointments.

UnitedHealthcare’s Medicare plans in Connecticut cover outpatient counseling, psychiatric evaluation and partial hospitalization on Original Medicare’s terms, and Medicare-enrolled opioid treatment programs for methadone and buprenorphine. Dual Complete plans serve members who hold both Medicare and HUSKY Health, and HUSKY’s behavioral health partnership still handles the Medicaid side.

Does UnitedHealthcare Cover Suboxone, Methadone and Other Addiction Medications?

Yes. Optum Rx manages UnitedHealthcare pharmacy benefits, and the commercial drug list UnitedHealthcare dated September 1, 2026 puts acamprosate, disulfiram, naltrexone tablets and generic buprenorphine on Tier 1, none of them flagged for prior authorization. Alcohol use disorder medications and opioid medicines therefore start at the lowest copay tier.

Does UnitedHealthcare cover Suboxone?

Yes. Suboxone-type buprenorphine-naloxone, as film or tablet, and Zubsolv are Tier 2 drugs on that September 2026 list, with quantity limits but not flagged for prior authorization, so buprenorphine maintenance programs can prescribe them directly. Employer plans can choose a different list, so the drug list for the member’s plan year is the one that counts.

Does UnitedHealthcare cover methadone?

Yes, on Medicare Advantage plans, which pay Medicare-enrolled opioid treatment programs, such as methadone dosing clinics, for counseling plus methadone, buprenorphine or naltrexone. Connecticut employer plan members should ask Optum, before the first visit, whether their plan pays the clinic.

UnitedHealthcare Rehab Centers Near Niantic Bay, the Thames River and Bantam Lake

The out-of-network question splits UnitedHealthcare’s employer plans in two: Choice Plus, Core and Options PPO pay something toward non-network programs, while Choice, Select and Core Essential pay nothing outside the network unless it is an emergency. That plan rule, not the setting, decides whether a waterside program in Connecticut is paid, and Optum authorization applies the same way everywhere.

UnitedHealthcare rehab near Niantic Bay

Connecticut’s Niantic Bay opens onto Long Island Sound between East Lyme and Waterford, west of New London. UnitedHealthcare members considering rehab programs near bays along this stretch of shoreline, or Westbrook recovery centers farther west, use the same Optum line on the card for authorization as members anywhere else in Connecticut.

UnitedHealthcare rehab along the Thames River

Connecticut’s Thames River runs from Norwich past Montville and Groton to New London Harbor. A UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage member choosing river-view treatment centers or Downtown Norwich rehab programs should know if the card is for an HMO or PPO design and what its summary of benefits says about programs outside the network.

UnitedHealthcare rehab near Bantam Lake

Bantam Lake, the largest natural lake in Connecticut, lies between Litchfield and Morris in the northwest hills. UnitedHealthcare members drawn to rehab centers near lakes or Litchfield treatment programs can ask Optum about a program’s network status before a residential admission there, since benefits work the same in a hill-country lake town as anywhere else.

How Do I Find a Rehab That Accepts UnitedHealthcare in Connecticut?

Browse the listings on this page. Each Connecticut program shown takes UnitedHealthcare, and you’ll find its phone number, services and accreditation on the entry. Use the filters for town, level of care or substance to bring up only detox, residential or outpatient programs, then call admissions.

UnitedHealthcare admission to residential care, partial hospitalization or intensive outpatient treatment starts with Optum authorization, normally requested by the program after intake. Members can phone the behavioral health number on the ID card with the program’s name. The table lists UnitedHealthcare’s Connecticut lines in 2026 and their benefit numbers.

UnitedHealthcare rehab in Downtown Hartford

UnitedHealthcare keeps an office at 185 Asylum Street in Downtown Hartford, the address its legal team gives for privacy matters. Hartford members on Choice Plus or Options PPO plans can use Downtown Hartford addiction programs or Newington treatment centers under the same Optum authorization, and the plan document on myuhc.com shows the member’s share.

UnitedHealthcare rehab in New Haven

UnitedHealthcare’s Connecticut Dual Complete special needs plans are open to New Haven residents who have both Medicare and HUSKY Health, and they carry a zero premium for members with Extra Help. The plan pays its Medicare share of care at East Rock treatment programs and elsewhere, while HUSKY covers the rest.

UnitedHealthcare rehab in Greenwich and Stamford

UnitedHealthcare is the medical carrier for New York’s Empire Plan, and Connecticut’s border counties count within the Empire Plan’s medical and surgical access area for New York public employees and retirees living there. Empire Plan behavioral care is run by Carelon instead, so a retiree near Downtown Greenwich treatment options calls 1-877-769-7447 before admission.

UnitedHealthcare rehab in Bristol and Waterbury

UnitedHealthcare’s provider contact page lists the All Savers Health Plan line for Connecticut, the level-funded small-employer plan that runs on the Choice, Choice Plus and Core networks. Small businesses around Bristol and Waterbury that use it reach All Savers at 800-291-2634 before a stay at Bristol rehab programs or nearby.

Can I use UnitedHealthcare for rehab in a different state?

Yes, for employer plan members on national designs. The Choice Plus and Options PPO networks span the country and also pay for non-network care at a reduced level, and GEHA’s federal employee plans use Choice Plus nationwide as well. Members of Choice or Select plans must stay in network away from home, emergencies aside.

How much does rehab cost with UnitedHealthcare?

UnitedHealthcare costs depend on the plan. In the 2025 Choice Plus certificate already cited, in-network behavioral care at every level, from office visits to inpatient stays, had no copayment, while non-network care cost the member 20 percent, or 50 percent without required authorization. Medicare Advantage plans list their own copays and out-of-pocket maximum.

Is UnitedHealthcare the same as Oxford in Connecticut?

Partly. Oxford Health Plans, founded in Norwalk in 1984, has belonged to UnitedHealth Group since 2004 and appears on UnitedHealthcare’s Connecticut provider page, but Oxford plans keep their own Freedom and Liberty networks and Connecticut HMO company. A card that says Oxford follows Oxford’s rules; a card that says Choice Plus or Options PPO follows UnitedHealthcare’s.

UnitedHealthcare once ran HUSKY managed care too, as AmeriChoice, until the state ended that model in 2012. Listings here also show Medicare rehab programs and self-pay addiction treatment for members between plans, and HUSKY Health covers residents who qualify for Connecticut Medicaid.
