Rehab Centers With Childcare in Georgia

Georgia parents weighing addiction treatment often face a practical question first: who will care for the children? This page covers substance use and co-occurring mental health treatment for parents, where a program reports childcare or family services in its listing. If you are looking for pediatric therapy or physical rehabilitation for a child, a pediatrician or children’s hospital is a better place to start.

Listings on RehabSeekers.com come from government treatment registers, state licensing records, accreditor listings, and details the providers send in themselves. Georgia programs that report childcare are spread across cities, towns and rural counties, so the nearest option may sit well outside metro Atlanta.

Common questions about Rehab With Childcare

Answered from what is listed here.

Which Georgia cities have rehabs with childcare?

Dublin, Cairo, Oneonta, Doraville and Roswell are where listings for rehab with childcare in Georgia cluster, in that order. Families comparing options across the state can weigh those towns against larger nearby cities such as Atlanta, Dublin and Thomasville.

Parents planning around school, work or family support may find that a program closer to home makes visits and childcare arrangements easier to manage during a stay.

Rehab Centers in Dublinhttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/georgia/dublin-ga/
Do rehabs with childcare in Georgia accept Medicaid?

Georgia Medicaid is accepted by some of the rehabs with childcare in Georgia, so checking coverage before intake matters. Members of Georgia Families plans such as Amerigroup Community Care, CareSource and Peach State Health Plan can ask their plan and the admissions team whether the program is in network.

Are there rehabs with childcare near a river in Georgia?

The most-named river near rehabs with childcare in Georgia is the Dead River, followed by the Blackburn Fork Little Warrior River and then the Little Mulberry River.

Some of the rehabs with childcare in Georgia sit within 25 miles of a river, and the median distance from listed facilities to the nearest one is about 17.8 miles. Parents who want a river setting can ask intake staff how close it is.

Are there treatment programs in Georgia where children can stay with a parent?

Yes, some Georgia listings describe residential programs where children live on site with a parent, though that is only one of three childcare models. Other programs care for children during sessions and send them home with the parent afterward, and some only help families arrange outside childcare.

Listings that mention childcare can mean quite different arrangements, and the wording usually shows which one applies: child age limits point to family residential care, while childcare hours suggest an outpatient or day program. The national guide to rehab with childcare explains each model in more depth.

Ask how old children can be, how many can come, who licenses the childcare room, and what happens when a child is sick. The state’s behavioral health department funds Women’s Treatment and Recovery Services for women who are pregnant or parenting children under 13, and pregnant women get admission preference in programs paid through the federal block grant.

Entering treatment does not by itself open or close a child welfare case, and a program has no say over custody. Georgia’s child welfare agency handles any open case under its own rules and timelines. Specific questions can go to the assigned caseworker or a family law attorney before admission.

ModelHow it worksListing clues

Which levels of care do Georgia programs with childcare list?

Georgia programs reporting childcare or family services list care from residential rehab through partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and standard outpatient care. Some also list medication for opioid use disorder, which is worth matching against Suboxone clinics in Georgia if a program does not prescribe on site. Populations named in listings include pregnant and postpartum women, mothers and fathers. Women who are pregnant can also browse rehab for pregnant women in Georgia.

Location matters for families, and Georgia’s childcare listings are evenly mixed: 38 percent sit in urban areas, 25 percent in towns and 38 percent in rural settings. DeKalb Peachtree Airport is the most common nearest airport, and the median distance to an airport is 24.6 miles, so families from the far south or north of the state should plan for a long drive. Language details vary by listing. Spanish-speaking rehab in Georgia collects programs reporting Spanish services.

How can parents in Georgia pay for treatment and childcare?

Georgia Medicaid can cover addiction treatment for eligible parents and pregnant women, though Georgia has not adopted the ACA adult expansion. Most members are enrolled through Georgia Families managed care. State pages have listed Amerigroup Community Care, CareSource and Peach State Health Plan as plans, but plan lineups can change, so check your card. The state’s Pathways to Coverage program serves some adults with income up to 100 percent of the poverty level who take part in 80 hours a month of work or other qualifying activities. Its rules change on January 1, 2027. Ask your plan directly whether residential care is covered, and filter for programs that accept Medicaid.

Georgia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) funds Women’s Treatment and Recovery Services for women with substance use disorders who are pregnant or parenting children under 13. Federal block grant rules also give pregnant women admission preference in funded programs. State-funded rehab and sliding scale programs fill other gaps. Childcare costs are a separate question. Ask intake staff or a caseworker whether state child care assistance can cover hours spent in treatment.

How does entering treatment in Georgia relate to custody or a child welfare case?

Choosing voluntary treatment and having an open child welfare case are separate matters in Georgia. A treatment program does not decide custody, and enrolling does not open or close a case on its own. Georgia’s state child welfare agency handles any case that exists, under its own rules and timelines. For infants affected by prenatal substance exposure, hospitals and caseworkers may put a plan of safe care in place, which sets out services for the baby and the family. A family law attorney or the assigned caseworker can answer questions about a specific case.

What should parents ask a Georgia program before admission?

Parents get the clearest picture by asking specific questions before admission. Ask how old children can be and how many can come. Ask who licenses the childcare, since DBHDD’s treatment licensing, held from January 1, 2026, does not by itself cover a childcare room. Ask about the hours care runs, school enrollment or transport, any counseling or services for children, and what happens when a child is sick.

If no program nearby offers childcare

Georgia parents without a nearby option still have routes. Telehealth rehab can work from home, and Georgia Medicaid’s guidance generally requires live audio and video for covered telemedicine. Evening IOP sessions may fit around school hours. Relatives or friends can provide kinship care, and a caseworker can explain whether any temporary voluntary arrangement is possible.

Where to get help now

The Georgia Crisis and Access Line, 1-800-715-4225, helps callers find crisis care, detox beds and state-funded providers.
