Treatment Centers in Idaho That Accept Cigna

Cigna Healthcare covers drug and alcohol rehab in Idaho through employer plans on its national Open Access Plus and PPO networks, with behavioral care run by its sister company, Evernorth Behavioral Health. Cigna sells no individual marketplace plans in Idaho and no longer sells Medicare plans anywhere, so an Idaho Cigna card almost always comes from work.

The listings on this page show each program’s phone number, levels of care and accreditation, drawn from government treatment registers and Idaho licensing records. Narrow them by city or by level of care, then call the program with the Cigna ID card ready so staff can check the member’s plan and Evernorth network status.

Does Cigna Cover Rehab in Idaho?

Yes, for members of Cigna employer plans in Idaho. Cigna lists substance use benefits as inpatient and outpatient treatment with follow-up case management, and employer plans carry no separate behavioral health deductible. Members compare Idaho drug and alcohol programs against the plan’s terms, as with any of the rehabs that accept Cigna.

Cigna’s Idaho presence is employer coverage on the national Open Access Plus and PPO networks. Behavioral benefits are administered by Evernorth Behavioral Health, Inc., known as Cigna Behavioral Health until September 2021, so a program in the Evernorth behavioral network is in Cigna’s network. Cigna’s local LocalPlus networks are sold in a list of states that does not include Idaho.

Does Cigna Cover Inpatient Rehab in Idaho?

Yes. Cigna’s own treatment guide describes inpatient acute care after detox and inpatient residential treatment of 28 days or more as levels it covers when medically necessary. Residential programs taking insurance and hospital addiction treatment both fall under Evernorth’s authorization grid, which requires authorization for substance use inpatient care and residential treatment.

How long will Cigna pay for residential rehab in Idaho?

Cigna pays for the days Evernorth finds medically necessary, measured against The ASAM Criteria, the national placement standard for addiction care. Cigna’s guide describes residential care as running 28 days or longer, and long-term rehab with insurance continues when the facility’s updates to Evernorth show the member still meets criteria for that level.

Does Cigna need prior authorization for inpatient rehab in Idaho?

Yes. Evernorth requires authorization for substance use inpatient care, inpatient detox, dual diagnosis inpatient care and residential treatment. Facility staff complete a face-to-face assessment, then call the number on the back of the member’s ID card with the clinical details. Cigna’s stated access standards are six hours for a non-life-threatening emergency and 48 hours for urgent care.

Does Cigna Cover Detox in Idaho?

Yes. Cigna describes two detox levels: ambulatory detox, which Evernorth lists as needing no authorization, and inpatient detox with 24-hour medical care, which does need authorization. Members needing hospital detox programs or alcohol detox programs with round-the-clock nursing have the facility request Evernorth’s authorization before or at admission.

Does Cigna Cover Outpatient Rehab in Idaho?

Yes. Cigna describes intensive outpatient care as three to five days a week for three to four hours a day, and partial hospitalization as five to seven days a week for six to eight hours. Whether IOP rehab with insurance or partial hospitalization needs authorization depends on the plan, and evening treatment options help working members.

Routine outpatient care needs no authorization at all: outpatient psychotherapy, family and group therapy, diagnostic evaluations and medication management visits are all on Evernorth’s no-authorization list. Cigna pays covered virtual visits at the same rate as in-person care, and routine visits are due within ten working days. Aftercare and continuing care follows the same outpatient rules.

Does Cigna Cover Suboxone, Methadone and Other Addiction Medications in Idaho?

Yes. Cigna pharmacy benefits run through Express Scripts, its sister company within Evernorth, and Evernorth’s grid lists buprenorphine induction and provider-given methadone as outpatient services that need no authorization. Programs offering buprenorphine maintenance with insurance can start care without waiting for a Cigna decision, though the employer’s drug list still sets cost.

Does Cigna cover Suboxone in Idaho?

Yes. Cigna ended prior authorization for buprenorphine medications for opioid use disorder in October 2016 under a New York settlement described as national for commercial plans. On Cigna’s Standard 3-Tier drug list for coverage starting January 1, 2027, generic buprenorphine-naloxone is Tier 1 and brand Suboxone Tier 3, so Suboxone and buprenorphine programs usually cost least with the generic.

Does Cigna cover methadone and alcohol medications in Idaho?

Yes. Methadone given at a clinic is on Evernorth’s list of outpatient services that need no authorization, so methadone maintenance programs bill the plan directly. For alcohol use disorder, acamprosate sits on Tier 1 of the Standard 3-Tier list, which makes acamprosate for alcohol use a low-cost option on plans using that list.

Cigna Rehab Centers Near Canyons, Waterfalls and the High Desert

Cigna’s Open Access Plus and PPO plans cover out-of-network care at a lower level, so an Idaho member can weigh setting along with network status. SureFit plans have no out-of-network coverage. Listings show each program’s distance from Idaho’s canyons, waterfalls and high desert, and Evernorth’s authorization rules apply in every setting the same way.

Cigna rehab near the Snake River Canyon and Hells Canyon

Idaho’s two great canyons sit at opposite ends of the state: the Snake River Canyon cuts through Twin Falls County, and Hells Canyon runs along the Oregon line south of Lewiston in Nez Perce and Idaho counties. Rehabs near canyons in both areas follow the same Evernorth authorization for residential stays.

Cigna rehab near Shoshone Falls and Mesa Falls

Waterfall country splits between Shoshone Falls on the Snake River east of Twin Falls and Upper and Lower Mesa Falls in Fremont County north of Ashton. Rehabs near waterfalls in those counties are reached on Cigna’s national network, and a program outside it is paid at the plan’s out-of-network level only on Open Access Plus or PPO.

Cigna rehab in the Snake River Plain desert

The high desert of the Snake River Plain runs across Elmore and Owyhee counties, around Mountain Home and the Bruneau Dunes. Rehabs in desert regions and Mountain Home treatment programs take the same Cigna card as Boise programs, and routine outpatient visits there need no authorization.

How Do I Find a Rehab That Accepts Cigna in Idaho?

Browse the listings on this page. Every listing gives the program’s levels of care and its phone number, so a Cigna member can call and ask whether the program contracts with Evernorth Behavioral Health. Filters narrow the results to detox, residential, intensive outpatient or medication programs in Boise, Twin Falls, Idaho Falls and the smaller towns.

Admission then runs through Evernorth. For inpatient, residential or detox care, the program assesses the member face to face and calls the number on the ID card for authorization. Cigna’s behavioral health benefits line, 1 (800) 433-5768, answers around the clock, and customer service is 1 (800) 997-1654, TTY 711. The table shows Cigna-linked plans in Idaho.

Cigna rehab in Boise and Garden City

Boise’s employers include small businesses whose Trustmark, Gravie or EMI Health plans can run on Cigna’s PPO network. Members of those plans call the number on their own card rather than Cigna directly. Garden City treatment programs and Boise rehab centers can tell a caller which network names they accept.

Cigna rehab in Twin Falls and Jerome

The Magic Valley is a place where Cigna’s virtual network matters, since MDLIVE, Talkspace and partners such as Headway and Rula add therapists to the in-person options. Cigna pays covered virtual visits at in-person rates. Members can pair a virtual therapist with Twin Falls addiction programs or Jerome rehab options for higher levels of care.

Cigna rehab in Idaho Falls and Rexburg

Eastern Idaho employers buying through EMI Health can use the Cigna PPO network for medical care, with EMI running its own utilization review. A member there checks whether EMI or Evernorth handles authorization before admission to rehab centers in Idaho Falls or Rexburg treatment programs, since the answer depends on the plan.

Cigna rehab in Moscow and Lewiston

North-central Idaho borders Washington, and Cigna’s Open Access Plus and PPO networks are national, so programs on either side of the state line can be in network. Members can start with Moscow treatment centers or rehabs in Lewiston, and Evernorth’s 24/7 clinicians help with crisis support at no extra cost.

Can I use my Idaho Cigna plan for rehab in another state?

Yes, on Open Access Plus and PPO plans, because both use Cigna’s national network and also pay out of network at a lower level. SureFit plans pay nothing out of network. Cigna also designates Substance Use Centers of Excellence, a designation Cigna sets for facilities, but an Idaho member can use any in-network program.

How much does rehab cost with Cigna in Idaho?

The employer’s plan sets the cost. Across Cigna plan documents, outpatient therapy visits usually carry a flat copay outside the deductible, while inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient care fall under coinsurance after the deductible. Clearity plans replace deductibles and coinsurance with copays only, and out-of-network care costs more on every design.

Cigna’s employee assistance program can cover the first conversations at no cost where the employer buys it, with up to twelve counseling sessions per issue on Cigna’s employer page and help with substance use. Longer care moves to the health plan. From January 1, 2026, Headspace for Cigna Healthcare is also free on employer plans.
