Women's Rehab Centers in Idaho

Women looking for drug and alcohol treatment in Idaho will find women’s programs spread across the Treasure Valley and the larger towns to the south and east. Garden City, Pocatello, Caldwell, Meridian, Nampa and Twin Falls are the most common addresses in the listings. Some programs admit women only, and others run a separate women’s track inside a co-ed setting.

Listings on RehabSeekers.com draw on government treatment registers, state licensing records and accreditor listings, along with details the providers share about themselves. Use them as a starting point. Then call a program to ask about openings, cost and who it admits.

Common questions about Women's Rehab

Answered from what is listed here.

Which Idaho cities have women's rehabs?

Women's rehab listings in Idaho cluster in Garden City, Pocatello, Caldwell, Meridian and Nampa, in that order. Calling a program to check whether it serves women only, or runs a separate women's track, is a good first step.

Boise, Idaho Falls and Pocatello are the larger cities near women's rehab listings in Idaho. Women living around them can compare options in more than one town before calling an admissions team.

Rehab Centers in Garden Cityhttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/idaho/garden-city-id/
Is women's rehab covered by Idaho Medicaid?

Magellan of Idaho runs the Idaho Behavioral Health Plan, which covers substance use disorder and mental health services for Idaho Medicaid members, and nearly all of the women's rehabs in Idaho record accepting Idaho Medicaid. Women enrolled in both Medicare and Medicaid may be with Molina Healthcare of Idaho or UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Idaho.

Rehab Centers in Idaho That Accept Idaho Medicaidhttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/idaho/idaho-medicaid/
Are there women's rehabs near a river in Idaho?

Within 25 miles of most of the women's rehabs in Idaho there is a river or creek, and the median distance from a listed facility to the nearest one is about 9.5 miles.

Council Spring Creek, Currant Creek and the Portneuf River are the waterways named near women's rehabs in Idaho. Women who want water nearby can ask a provider how far the nearest stretch of river or creek lies from the building.

Rehab Centers Near Rivershttps://rehabseekers.com/attractions/rivers/

What women-only treatment options are there in Idaho?

Women-only treatment options in Idaho range from weekly outpatient counseling to live-in residential stays. A program may be women-only, or it may be a women’s group or housing wing inside a co-ed setting, so ask any co-ed provider whether its women’s groups and sleeping areas are fully separate.

Compare residential programs in Idaho with intensive outpatient programs, which let you live at home. Intake staff can explain the age range served, whether the program admits transgender and nonbinary women, and whether depression, anxiety or PTSD are treated alongside the addiction.

Idaho’s women’s programs are mostly in town settings, with only a small group in rural areas. Most sit within 25 miles of a river, at a median of 9.5 miles, with Council Spring Creek, Currant Creek and the Portneuf River among the nearest. Their median elevation is 2,740 feet.

Half of these programs have a major airport as their nearest one, Boise Air Terminal/Gowen Field for the largest group, and the median distance to the nearest airport is 9.5 miles. Mothers can ask whether young children may stay during residential care or whether childcare is offered during group sessions.

Admission questions worth asking

Intake staff can tell you the program’s age range and whether it admits transgender and nonbinary women. Ask whether the program uses trauma-informed care, and whether a psychiatrist or therapist treats depression, anxiety or PTSD alongside substance use. If you need care for both, start with dual diagnosis programs in Idaho. Also ask which languages staff speak and whether interpreters are available.

Do pregnant women get priority for treatment in Idaho?

Pregnant women get preference in admission at programs funded by the federal block grant. If no bed is open, the program must offer interim services within 48 hours, under federal rule 45 CFR 96.131. In Idaho, the Division of Behavioral Health at the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare runs that grant. The division funds its SUD Services Program through the Substance Use Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery Services Block Grant, and Magellan of Idaho delivers the services.

Idaho rule IDAPA 16.07.17 limits department-funded care to priority populations, which the department sets each year. The rule itself does not list those groups. Ask Magellan of Idaho whether pregnant women and women with dependent children are on this year’s list.

Tell intake staff how far along you are and who provides your prenatal care. Ask whether the program offers or continues medication for opioid use disorder during pregnancy, or works with Suboxone clinics in Idaho. Don’t stop or taper any medication without medical supervision. Ask Idaho Medicaid how long your coverage lasts after delivery. More options are on the rehab for pregnant women in Idaho page.

Can you bring your children to treatment in Idaho?

Whether your children can stay with you depends on the program, so check the listing and ask before you make plans. Some residential programs house mothers with young children, and some outpatient clinics offer childcare during group sessions. Ask about age limits, how many children can come, and how school and medical visits work. Outpatient care scheduled around school hours is another option, especially for families outside the Boise area.

How do women pay for treatment in Idaho?

Most women in Idaho pay through Idaho Medicaid, state funding, private insurance, TRICARE or a sliding fee. Idaho expanded Medicaid in January 2020. Mental health and substance use services for Medicaid members are run separately by Magellan of Idaho through the Idaho Behavioral Health Plan. That plan also serves some uninsured Idaho residents.

Way to payWhat to ask
MedicaidIs the program in the Magellan of Idaho network?
State-funded careDo I fit this year’s priority populations?
Sliding scaleWhat income proof sets the fee?
Private insuranceWhich levels of care need prior authorization?
TRICAREIs the program an authorized provider?

How is a recovery residence for women different from treatment in Idaho?

A recovery residence is shared, alcohol- and drug-free housing, while treatment is clinical care from licensed staff. Under Idaho Code 39-305, the Idaho Board of Health and Welfare sets standards for treatment facilities. The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare inspects those facilities and keeps the official list, so ask any program whether it appears on that list.

Idaho has no state certification or registry for recovery housing. The Division of Behavioral Health does publish Safe and Sober Recovery Residencies among its standards documents. Its SUD Services Program also funds housing support as part of its recovery services. Before you move into a sober living home in Idaho, ask whether the house is women-only, whether children can stay, and what the rules and fees are.

Where to call

Magellan of Idaho answers around the clock at 1-855-202-0973 for Medicaid members and uninsured residents looking for care. Call or text 988 for mental health or substance use crises, or call the national treatment referral line for help finding care in other states. Idaho Code 37-3102 keeps drug addiction treatment private from the parents of patients 16 or older unless the patient consents. To compare other types of care, browse all treatment listings in Idaho or the national women’s rehab page.
