Treatment Centers in Indiana That Accept Aetna

Aetna still covers drug and alcohol rehab for Hoosiers on employer plans, including self-funded plans Aetna administers, and on the federal and postal employee plans it runs. Aetna CVS Health individual plans sold on the Indiana marketplace in 2024 and 2025 ended for 2026, and Aetna runs no Indiana Medicaid plan.

Each listing on this page shows the program’s phone number, the care it offers (from withdrawal management through residential stays, outpatient groups and medication) and its CARF or Joint Commission accreditation, if any. They draw on government treatment registers and Indiana licensing records. Sort by town or service, then ask the program whether your Aetna network includes it.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Does Aetna Cover Rehab in Indiana?

Yes, for Hoosiers who still hold an Aetna plan. Aetna’s member pages list substance use among the conditions its mental health benefits treat, and an employer plan covers whatever levels of care its plan document names. You can find rehabs that accept Aetna among the rehab centers across Indiana listed here.

Aetna’s Indiana footprint changed in January 2026, when CVS Health took Aetna off the public exchanges in all 17 of its states, Indiana included. What remains is employer coverage, mostly self-funded with benefits set by the employer, plus the Mail Handlers Benefit Plan and the Rural Carrier Benefit Plan, which Aetna administers for federal and postal workers.

Does Aetna Cover Inpatient Rehab in Indiana?

Yes, where the plan includes it. Aetna’s behavioral health precertification list counts a stay in a hospital, psychiatric hospital, substance use disorder facility or residential treatment center as an inpatient confinement it can cover. One 2026 Aetna Choice POS II plan document covers inpatient addiction treatment at the semi-private room rate, and residential rehab programs fall under the same rule.

How long will Aetna pay for residential rehab?

Aetna sets the length of a residential stay through medical necessity decisions rather than a published day count. For addiction care, its reviewers use The ASAM Criteria along with Aetna Clinical Policy Bulletins and MCG guidelines, so a stay at one of the residential programs taking insurance can continue as long as the clinical picture supports that level of care.

Does Aetna need prior authorization for inpatient rehab?

Yes. Aetna requires precertification for inpatient confinements, residential treatment and partial hospitalization on its commercial and Medicare plans. The precertification line is 1-888-632-3862 for commercial plans and 1-800-624-0756 for Medicare plans. If the program is out of network, the member, not the facility, has to arrange it. Traditional Choice and federal employee plans follow their own rules.

Does Aetna Cover Detox in Indiana?

Yes. Aetna covers medically supervised detox centers as an inpatient confinement with precertification, and the same 2026 Choice POS II plan document lists ambulatory detoxification with medication as a covered service. Outpatient detox programs have not needed precertification on Aetna commercial plans since January 1, 2019.

Does Aetna Cover Outpatient Rehab in Indiana?

Yes. Aetna covers outpatient office visits and therapy for substance use, and members can see counselors, psychologists and psychiatrists in person or virtually through CVS Virtual Care or Teladoc Health where the employer offers them. Intensive outpatient programs taking insurance came off Aetna’s commercial precertification list in 2019 and are still off it.

Aetna still precertifies partial hospitalization programs, the most structured outpatient level. Three named Aetna employer plan summaries from 2025 and 2026 show no annual cap on outpatient visits, only a copay or coinsurance per visit; any limit would appear in the plan’s own schedule of benefits.

Does Aetna Cover Suboxone, Methadone and Other Addiction Medications?

Yes, on the plan’s drug list. CVS Caremark, Aetna’s sister company, runs pharmacy benefits, and each Indiana employer picks the drug list its plan uses. A member can look up medications for addiction treatment by plan year and plan name in Aetna’s medication search before a program starts a prescription.

Does Aetna cover Suboxone?

Yes. Aetna removed prior authorization for buprenorphine products such as Suboxone on its commercial plans in March 2017, so Suboxone programs taking insurance can usually start a prescription without a separate request. The tier and copay still depend on the drug list attached to the employer’s plan.

Does Aetna cover methadone?

Yes, for Aetna Medicare members, through Medicare-enrolled opioid treatment programs that give methadone maintenance treatment, buprenorphine and naltrexone with counseling. For an Indiana employer plan member, coverage depends on whether the clinic bills that plan, so ask the program and Aetna before the first dose.

Aetna Rehab Centers Near Indiana Lakes, the Wabash River and Waterfalls

The Aetna plans left in Indiana after the 2026 exchange exit are employer, federal and Medicare plans. None follows an Indiana county map, so plan type matters more than setting. An HMO or EPO plan pays only network programs outside an emergency, while a POS or PPO plan also pays out-of-network programs at a higher share.

Aetna rehab near Indiana’s northern lakes

Aetna members looking at the lake country of Kosciusko and Steuben counties, around Warsaw, Lake Wawasee and Angola, can search rehab centers near lakes and treatment options in Warsaw. Lake Wawasee, near Syracuse, is the largest natural lake wholly inside Indiana. A residential stay in this part of the state needs the same Aetna precertification as one in Indianapolis.

Aetna rehab along the Wabash River

Aetna members in Tippecanoe and Vigo counties live along the Wabash River, which runs past Lafayette and Terre Haute toward the Illinois line. Riverside rehab programs and Terre Haute treatment centers may be in or out of Aetna’s network depending on each program’s contract, so ask about network status first.

Aetna rehab near Indiana waterfalls

Aetna members drawn to Clifty Falls near Madison or Cataract Falls in Owen County can browse rehabs near waterfalls. Madison sits on the Ohio River across from Kentucky, so an Aetna member there may be weighing programs in two states. Whether a Kentucky program is in network depends on its own Aetna contract, and the plan type decides out-of-network payment.

How Do I Find a Rehab That Accepts Aetna in Indiana?

Browse the listings on this page. Every entry gives a phone number, the services offered and any accreditation, with filters for town, care level and insurer. The private insurance accepted listings take in programs billing Aetna employer plans; ask the admissions team whether the program is in your network before you go.

Aetna admission to inpatient, residential or partial hospitalization care starts with precertification. A program found here can call Aetna with clinical details, or the member can call the number on the ID card and name the program. The table shows which Aetna lines still operate in Indiana in 2026 and which number to use.

Aetna rehab in Jeffersonville and the Louisville area

Aetna runs Kentucky Medicaid as Aetna Better Health of Kentucky, but Clark and Floyd County residents on Indiana Medicaid cannot use it; Indiana’s Medicaid plans are Anthem, CareSource, MHS, UnitedHealthcare and Humana. Aetna employer plan members in Jeffersonville can choose Jeffersonville rehab centers or programs across the river in Louisville.

Can I use Aetna for rehab in a different state?

Yes, on most Aetna employer plans, because the network is national. A POS or PPO plan such as Choice POS II also pays out-of-network care at a higher share, with the member arranging precertification. HMO and EPO plans pay only network programs outside an emergency, and asking Aetna to treat an out-of-network program as in network needs precertification too.

How much does rehab cost with Aetna?

Aetna costs depend on the employer’s plan. Named Aetna plan summaries show a flat copay for outpatient behavioral visits in network, and coinsurance after the deductible for inpatient care, with higher out-of-network deductibles and coinsurance. Out-of-network programs can bill the balance above Aetna’s allowed amount, and that excess does not count toward the out-of-pocket limit.
