Treatment Centers in Indiana That Accept CareSource

CareSource covers Indiana drug and alcohol rehab as a health plan for the Healthy Indiana Plan and Hoosier Healthwise, two of Indiana Medicaid’s managed care programs, and through 2026 Marketplace plans. CareSource manages behavioral health itself, and its Indiana Medicaid plans cover residential treatment, detox, intensive outpatient care and medications for opioid use disorder.

For every program below you will see a phone number, the services on offer, such as detox, residential stays, intensive outpatient or medication-assisted treatment, and whether CARF or The Joint Commission has accredited it. Indiana licensing records and government treatment registers supply the data. Narrow by town or service, then ask if the program is in the CareSource network.

Does CareSource Cover Rehab in Indiana?

Yes. CareSource covers substance use treatment for its Healthy Indiana Plan, Hoosier Healthwise and 2026 Marketplace members, and its Indiana Medicaid benefit pages list partial hospitalization and inpatient hospital care for substance use needs. Programs that bill rehabs that accept CareSource appear among the Indiana rehab centers listed here.

CareSource is one of three plans in HIP and Hoosier Healthwise, with Anthem and Managed Health Services, and does not serve Hoosier Care Connect or PathWays for Aging. Members pick a plan through the enrollment broker, on 877-438-4479 for HIP and 800-889-9949 for Hoosier Healthwise, and can switch in the first 90 days or at open enrollment.

CareSource took on former MDwise members when MDwise left those programs on January 1, 2026. Its Indiana regional office is in Indianapolis, and behavioral health decisions are made by CareSource’s own utilization management staff rather than an outside vendor, with a dedicated CareSource mailbox for Indiana providers’ behavioral health questions.

Does CareSource Cover Inpatient Rehab in Indiana?

Yes. CareSource’s Indiana Medicaid behavioral health guide lists inpatient substance use care and residential addiction programs at ASAM Levels 3.1 and 3.5 as covered with prior authorization. Its 2026 Indiana Marketplace plans also cover inpatient addiction care and residential treatment, each needing authorization before admission.

How long will CareSource pay for residential rehab?

CareSource sets length by medical need under The ASAM Criteria, and since February 2019 Indiana Medicaid has required every plan to authorize no fewer than 14 days before reassessing. A CareSource notice from November 12, 2025 requires residential programs to evaluate members in person within seven calendar days of admission, then at least every seven days during the stay.

Does CareSource need prior authorization for inpatient rehab?

Yes. CareSource takes all inpatient and residential substance use requests for HIP and Hoosier Healthwise on the Indiana Health Coverage Programs form, and its November 2025 notice tells programs to mark either inpatient or residential, not both. Providers call CareSource’s Indiana authorization line at 844-607-2831. Marketplace members need authorization for every inpatient stay.

Does CareSource Cover Detox in Indiana?

Yes. CareSource covers detox for its HIP and Hoosier Healthwise members; the state benefit includes inpatient detoxification once authorized, and detox providers carry certification from Indiana’s Division of Mental Health and Addiction. Medicaid medical detox programs and opioid detox taking Medicaid appear in the listings below.

Does CareSource Cover Outpatient Rehab in Indiana?

Yes. CareSource’s Indiana Medicaid guide lists office visits, individual, group and family therapy, psychiatric evaluations and crisis services with no prior authorization, and members need no referral for counseling. Intensive outpatient programs taking Medicaid and partial hospitalization need prior authorization, a rule the guide, dated January 2020, sets out.

CareSource’s 2026 Indiana Marketplace plans let members start partial hospitalization taking insurance or intensive outpatient care without authorization for the first five days in a calendar year, then require it. The same 2026 Indiana list requires authorization for any psychiatric evaluation after the first assessment, so a program planning ongoing medication management files that request too.

Does CareSource Cover Suboxone, Methadone and Other Addiction Medications?

Yes. CareSource’s Indiana Medicaid members get the state drug benefit through Express Scripts, CareSource’s pharmacy manager for Indiana Medicaid, and opioid treatment programs can bill Indiana Medicaid for methadone, buprenorphine or naltrexone. CareSource’s Addiction Services Helpline, 1-833-674-6437, is listed for Indiana members who want help starting medication-assisted treatment.

Does CareSource cover Suboxone?

Yes. Indiana Medicaid covers buprenorphine, including Suboxone, for CareSource’s HIP and Hoosier Healthwise members, under new state authorization rules for opioid use disorder medicines that reached the plans on February 1, 2026. Suboxone programs taking Medicaid are listed below, and Brixadi moved to preferred status on the state list.

Does CareSource cover methadone?

Yes. CareSource pays for methadone treatment at opioid treatment programs for its HIP and Hoosier Healthwise members, with no prior authorization needed under Indiana rules. CareSource’s 2026 Marketplace drug lists in other states carry naltrexone tablets on Tier 1 and Vivitrol on Tier 4, but methadone for addiction is a clinic service, not a pharmacy item.

CareSource Rehab Centers Near the Wabash River, Lake Shafer and Cataract Falls

CareSource’s Indiana Medicaid plans are statewide, so a HIP or Hoosier Healthwise member can choose a program in any county that is in the CareSource network. Marketplace members have the tighter rule: their HMO plans cover no out-of-network mental health or substance use care, wherever the program sits.

CareSource rehab along the upper Wabash River

CareSource members in Huntington, Wabash, Miami and Cass counties live along the upper Wabash River, from Huntington through Wabash and Peru to Logansport. Rehabs near rivers and Logansport treatment centers appear in the listings, and a residential stay there runs on the same state authorization form as anywhere in Indiana.

CareSource rehab near Lake Shafer and Lake Freeman

CareSource members in White and Carroll counties live near Lake Shafer and Lake Freeman, the two reservoirs on the Tippecanoe River around Monticello. Rehabs near lakes and programs around Monticello are a short drive from Lafayette, where more levels of care are listed.

CareSource rehab near Cataract Falls

CareSource members in Owen County live near Cataract Falls, the largest waterfall by volume in Indiana, and McCormick’s Creek near Spencer. Treatment near waterfalls and Spencer rehab options fall under the same CareSource Medicaid rules, and Bloomington is within reach for higher levels of care.

How Do I Find a Rehab That Accepts CareSource in Indiana?

Browse the listings on this page. Look for the phone number, care levels and accreditation on each one, and filter by city, service or payment source. Indiana Medicaid programs listed here include those billing CareSource, and admissions staff can say whether a program is in the CareSource network.

CareSource admission to residential, inpatient, intensive outpatient or partial hospitalization care starts with authorization. A program found here files the state form, or the member can call CareSource member services and name the program. The CareSource lines for Indiana members are below, including the 24-hour nurse advice line.

Members in Marion County use the member services line for benefits and the provider line for authorization at Indianapolis drug and alcohol programs or Near Eastside treatment centers.

CareSource rehab in Gary, Hammond and Merrillville

CareSource Marketplace members in Lake County hold HMO plans that pay nothing for out-of-network mental health or substance use care, so a program across the line in Illinois is not covered unless it is in the CareSource network. Medicaid members face the same in-network rule, and Merrillville rehab programs sit inside Indiana.

CareSource rehab in South Bend and Elkhart

CareSource was one of three plans open to former MDwise members in St. Joseph and Elkhart counties when MDwise’s HIP and Hoosier Healthwise contracts ended with 2025; members who did not choose were assigned to Anthem, CareSource or MHS. Authorizations already granted carried over, so treatment at South Bend treatment centers or in Elkhart could continue.

CareSource rehab in Muncie and Anderson

CareSource HIP members in Delaware and Madison counties who live with long-term substance use disorder may be classed as medically frail and move to HIP State Plan benefits, which add non-emergency transportation to treatment. That matters for members reaching downtown Muncie programs or Anderson rehab centers without a car.

Can I use CareSource for rehab in a different state?

Only in limited cases. CareSource’s Indiana Medicaid plans follow Indiana Medicaid’s rules, which expect managed care members to use their plan’s Indiana network, and its 2026 Indiana Marketplace HMO plans do not cover out-of-network mental health or substance use services at all. Emergency care is covered wherever it happens.

How much does rehab cost with CareSource?

CareSource Medicaid members pay what Indiana Medicaid sets: nothing for Hoosier Healthwise Package A or pregnant members, a small POWER account contribution on HIP Plus and small copays on HIP Basic. A 2026 CareSource Indiana Silver Marketplace plan charged 40 percent coinsurance after the deductible for inpatient substance use care, with a flat copay for office visits.

Is CareSource leaving the Indiana Marketplace?

Yes, after 2026. CareSource announced on May 15, 2026 that it will offer no Indiana Marketplace or off-exchange individual plans for 2027, while 2026 coverage stays active to the end of the year. Its Healthy Indiana Plan and Hoosier Healthwise coverage is not affected by that exit.

CareSource is only one of the ways Indiana residents cover treatment costs. State-funded and sliding scale programs also appear for people between plans, which matters for Marketplace members whose CareSource coverage ends with 2026. State-funded addiction treatment and Medicaid residential rehab are listed by level of care below.
