Treatment Centers in Maryland That Accept Cigna

Marylanders with a Cigna Healthcare employer plan, whether Open Access Plus, PPO or LocalPlus, have drug and alcohol rehab coverage, and Evernorth Behavioral Health, Cigna’s sister company, makes the decisions on higher levels of care. Cigna sells no individual marketplace or Medicaid plans in Maryland, and the Medicare plans it used to sell here are now HealthSpring plans.

Every entry shows a direct phone line, the services a program offers, from supervised detox to day programs and prescribing, plus any CARF or Joint Commission seal a program has earned. The entries come from Maryland licensing files and government treatment registers. Filter by city or service, then call to ask which Cigna networks a program belongs to.

Does Cigna Cover Rehab in Maryland?

Yes, for Marylanders who get Cigna through their job. Cigna’s national employer-plan page covers addiction treatment in hospitals and clinics, along with case managers who follow up afterward, and a member’s behavioral care counts toward the ordinary medical deductible rather than a second one. Programs listed as rehabs taking Cigna appear with other Maryland rehab programs on this page.

Cigna in Maryland is an employer business only. Cigna’s LocalPlus table lists Maryland as a statewide LocalPlus area with a smaller local network, while an Open Access Plus or PPO card gives access to the national one. Many Cigna employer plans are self-funded, with the employer setting the benefit design, and Evernorth credentials behavioral providers separately from the medical network.

Does Cigna Cover Inpatient Rehab in Maryland?

Yes. Where a Maryland employer’s plan includes them, Cigna pays for hospital addiction treatment, inpatient rehab for substance use, dual diagnosis admissions and residential rehab with insurance. Cigna’s consumer guide to substance use treatment explains each of these, and every one needs Evernorth authorization before admission.

How long will Cigna pay for residential rehab?

Cigna publishes no residential day count for its Maryland employer plans. Evernorth weighs each stay using The ASAM Criteria, its standard for substance use levels of care on Cigna health plans unless a contract or law says otherwise, and coverage continues as long as a Maryland member still meets that level.

Does Cigna need prior authorization for inpatient rehab?

Yes. Before a Cigna member enters residential care, inpatient rehab or hospital detox, program staff meet with the person to assess them and then call Evernorth with their findings, using the phone number on the member’s ID card. For in-network care the program files that request, so the Maryland member does not have to.

Does Cigna Cover Detox in Maryland?

Yes. Hospital-level detox needs Evernorth’s approval, while ambulatory detox appears on Cigna’s list of services that need none. Members can compare insured medical detox programs with outpatient detox services before choosing, since outpatient detox can usually begin right away. ASAM criteria guide which of the two levels Evernorth approves.

Does Cigna Cover Outpatient Rehab in Maryland?

Yes. Cigna members can start talk therapy in any format, evaluations and medication visits without advance approval. In Cigna’s description, intensive outpatient programs meet three to five days weekly in sessions of three to four hours, and day treatment runs five to seven days for six to eight hours.

Cigna tells programs to call to verify partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient, because the Maryland employer’s plan decides whether those need approval. Members can also see a therapist by video through MD Live by Evernorth, at 1-800-400-6354, or through Evernorth Behavioral Care Group, which reports therapists in all 50 states.

Does Cigna Cover Suboxone, Methadone and Other Addiction Medications?

Yes. Cigna fills prescriptions through Express Scripts. Its Standard 3-Tier list, one of several an employer can pick, places generic buprenorphine-naloxone and acamprosate in the lowest-cost tier, with Zubsolv and lofexidine one tier up. Because a Maryland employer can choose another list, the formulary named in the member’s own plan is what counts.

Does Cigna cover Suboxone?

Yes. Cigna stopped requiring prior authorization for buprenorphine in October 2016, and buprenorphine induction is on Evernorth’s no-approval list. Suboxone clinics with insurance can begin treatment without an approval step, and Cigna’s 2026 drug list changes did not touch buprenorphine or Suboxone. Bicycle Health, a virtual opioid treatment partner, is another route some employer plans offer.

Does Cigna cover methadone?

Yes, as a service the clinic provides. Evernorth’s grid puts methadone maintenance among outpatient services with no approval step, so methadone clinic programs bill Cigna for it as behavioral care, not as a pharmacy fill. Cigna also sells employers narcotics therapy management and opioid disorder management programs, and a Maryland member’s plan documents show whether the employer bought them.

Does Cigna cover Vivitrol?

Yes, on the Express Scripts lists. Express Scripts lists Vivitrol, the once-a-month naltrexone injection, as a specialty drug on its 2026 National Preferred Formulary, which applies nationwide, and Accredo is the specialty pharmacy for that list. Vivitrol programs with insurance can ask the member which list the employer uses before the first injection.

Cigna Rehab Centers Near Annapolis Marinas, Western Maryland Ski Slopes and the Susquehanna

Cigna plans in Maryland are not tied to a county map; even LocalPlus, the local network, is listed as statewide here. Open Access Plus and PPO members can travel anywhere in the national network, and out-of-network care is covered at a higher share on those designs, so the setting is a personal choice.

Cigna rehab near Annapolis marinas

Cigna members who want to be near the water around Annapolis, where the Severn River meets the Chesapeake Bay, can browse rehabs near marinas and rehab centers in Annapolis. A residential stay there needs Evernorth authorization like anywhere else, and LocalPlus members need a program inside the local network.

Cigna rehab near western Maryland ski slopes

Cigna members looking at Garrett County, where the Wisp ski area sits above Deep Creek Lake near McHenry, can search rehab centers near ski resorts. Cigna’s Away From Home Care feature gives LocalPlus members in-network costs outside their service area, which matters for a member who travels out of state.

Cigna rehab along the Susquehanna River

Cigna members in Harford and Cecil counties live where the Susquehanna River reaches the bay at Havre de Grace, close to the Pennsylvania and Delaware lines. Members there can compare rehab programs near rivers and Havre de Grace treatment options with programs across state lines, which Cigna’s national network also reaches.

How Do I Find a Rehab That Accepts Cigna in Maryland?

Browse the listings on this page, which shows Maryland programs that take Cigna. Sort them by town or level of care; each card lists a phone line and accreditation. Cigna asks members to make sure a provider is in network before booking, so ask admissions which Cigna networks the program belongs to.

Cigna members are admitted to residential, inpatient or detox care only after Evernorth Behavioral Health agrees. Program staff assess the person, then call the number on the card. Members with questions can call 1-800-433-5768, Cigna’s behavioral benefits number, at any hour. The table shows which Cigna-related plans are offered in Maryland in 2026.

Cigna rehab in Baltimore and Towson

Health Care Service Corporation bought Cigna’s Medicare plans in March 2025, and they now run under the HealthSpring name. HealthSpring’s Alliance HMO serves Baltimore City and Baltimore County for 2026. Working members in the city keep Cigna through their jobs and can choose from Baltimore rehab programs and Towson treatment centers listed here.

Cigna rehab in Glen Burnie and Anne Arundel County

Cigna members turning 65 in Anne Arundel County will not find a Cigna-branded Medicare plan; HealthSpring’s Alliance HMO names Anne Arundel as one of its four Maryland jurisdictions. Members who are still working can use Open Access Plus, PPO or, where offered, LocalPlus for Glen Burnie rehab options, and Evernorth, not HealthSpring, authorizes their care.

Cigna rehab in Bel Air and Harford County

Cigna’s former Medicare members in Harford County are HealthSpring members now, since the Alliance HMO includes the county, and HealthSpring has its own behavioral health unit. Employer members in Bel Air and Aberdeen still go through Evernorth for drug rehab in Bel Air and nearby programs, so retirees and workers now call different numbers.

Cigna rehab in Rockville and Bethesda

Cigna employer members in Montgomery County can weigh programs in Washington and northern Virginia too, and Open Access Plus pays network programs in either place without a referral. Addiction treatment in Rockville and Bethesda recovery programs sit inside the same national network; LocalPlus members near the District line can use Away From Home Care.

Can I use Cigna for rehab in a different state?

Yes, with Open Access Plus, PPO or a standard LocalPlus plan, since each pays some out-of-network care and the first two use Cigna’s national network. SureFit and the lock-in versions of LocalPlus cover only network programs outside emergencies. Cigna also names behavioral Centers of Excellence for substance use, and a Maryland member can ask Evernorth about one in another state.

How much does rehab cost with Cigna?

Cigna costs follow the employer’s plan. In the Cigna plan documents we gathered, an outpatient therapy visit usually costs a fixed copay with no deductible to meet first, while residential care and day programs are billed as coinsurance after the deductible. Out-of-network programs cost Maryland members more.

Plenty of Maryland rehab patients pay some way other than Cigna. People without employer coverage may qualify for HealthChoice, the state’s Medicaid managed care program, where Carelon handles addiction care. Self-pay rehab options and Medicaid rehab programs appear alongside Cigna programs in the listings, each with its phone number and levels of care.
