Treatment Centers in Michigan That Accept Molina Healthcare

Molina Healthcare of Michigan is a Medicaid Health Plan for Medicaid, Healthy Michigan Plan and MIChild members in 53 counties, and it began a dual-eligible Medicare plan in 2026. For its Medicaid members, drug and alcohol rehab is authorized and paid by the regional Prepaid Inpatient Health Plan, not by Molina.

The programs below come from Michigan licensing records and government treatment registers, and they reach from Detroit, Flint and Saginaw to Alpena, Grayling and Traverse City in the north. Listings show the care each program gives and its own phone number, and a filter by town, service or substance narrows them to the nearest few.

Does Molina Healthcare Cover Rehab in Michigan?

Yes. Molina Healthcare of Michigan members have drug and alcohol rehab covered, but substance use treatment runs through Michigan Medicaid’s regional PIHPs rather than through Molina itself, from counseling and detox to residential stays, medications and peer recovery support. Rehabs that take Molina are listed among Michigan drug and alcohol rehabs.

Molina Healthcare of Michigan held on to its state Medicaid contract in the 2024 rebid by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. It serves Medicaid, the Healthy Michigan Plan, MIChild and Children’s Special Health Care Services, and from January 1, 2026 it also runs an integrated Medicare plan for dual-eligible members in select regions.

Where does Molina offer Medicaid in Michigan?

Molina offers Medicaid in 53 Lower Peninsula counties, according to the state’s January 2025 listing. It covers every county of the Northern Michigan Regional Entity from Leelanau to Alpena, plus Detroit’s three counties, but not Washtenaw, Kalamazoo or the southwest counties, and it has no Upper Peninsula plan.

Does Molina Healthcare Cover Inpatient Rehab in Michigan?

Yes. Molina Medicaid members in Michigan can enter Medicaid residential rehab through the regional PIHP, under a Section 1115 demonstration that also pays for residential facilities classed as institutions for mental disease. Molina’s national Medicare behavioral health authorization form lists inpatient detoxification and residential treatment among the services it covers.

Does Molina need prior authorization for inpatient rehab in Michigan?

Yes. For Molina Medicaid members the PIHP covering their county authorizes residential care, using ASAM Continuum assessments for adults and GAIN-I for young people. Molina’s Medicare behavioral health form, effective April 1, 2024, requires prior authorization for inpatient detox, residential treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and day treatment for its Medicare members.

How long will Molina pay for residential rehab in Michigan?

Molina Medicaid members follow Michigan’s residential rules: the regional PIHP authorizes the stay using ASAM placement criteria, and the Behavioral Health Demonstration aims for a statewide average residential stay of 30 days. Region 10 PIHP notes that residential care may have waiting lists, relevant to short-term Medicaid rehab.

Does Molina Healthcare Cover Detox in Michigan?

Yes. Molina Medicaid members get Medicaid-covered medical detox from the PIHP at ambulatory, clinically managed residential and medically monitored inpatient levels, under the state’s Treatment Policy #13. Hospital detox at the most intensive level is handled on the physical health side, where Molina Healthcare of Michigan, as the member’s health plan, is responsible.

Does Molina Healthcare Cover Outpatient Rehab in Michigan?

Yes. Molina’s Michigan Medicaid page lists mental health as a covered benefit, and the plan handles outpatient visits for mild to moderate needs, while the PIHP covers outpatient addiction treatment and intensive outpatient care for Medicaid. Region 10 PIHP, which serves Genesee, Lapeer, Sanilac and St. Clair, requires authorization before intensive outpatient begins.

Does Molina Healthcare Cover Suboxone, Methadone and Other Addiction Medications?

Yes. Molina Healthcare of Michigan uses the common formulary every Michigan Medicaid Health Plan has shared since January 1, 2016, and Michigan removed prior authorization for preferred opioid use disorder medications on December 2, 2019. Medicaid MAT clinics in Molina counties work from that same list, and Molina keeps a Michigan drug coverage page.

Does Molina cover Suboxone in Michigan?

Yes. Suboxone films, buprenorphine/naloxone tablets, Zubsolv and Sublocade are on Michigan Medicaid’s preferred list without prior authorization, though they are carved out of the health plans and billed to fee-for-service Medicaid rather than Molina at Suboxone programs that take Medicaid. Vivitrol and naltrexone tablets are also preferred, and naltrexone treatment for Medicaid follows the same rule.

Does Molina cover methadone in Michigan?

Yes, through the PIHP rather than Molina’s pharmacy benefit. Methadone for opioid use disorder is paid for Molina members only at an opioid treatment program under contract with their regional PIHP, licensed by the state for outpatient methadone. Methadone programs in Molina counties bill the PIHP directly.

Molina Healthcare Rehab Centers on the Sunrise Coast, Along the Au Sable River and in the Huron National Forest

Molina’s widest Michigan coverage lies in the northeast Lower Peninsula, where it is one of three or four Medicaid plans in every county. Lake Huron’s Sunrise Coast, the Au Sable River and the Huron National Forest all sit in Northern Michigan Regional Entity counties, so one PIHP, (231) 487-9144, authorizes Molina members’ treatment across that country.

Molina rehab on Lake Huron’s Sunrise Coast

Lake Huron’s Sunrise Coast runs through Iosco, Alcona, Alpena and Presque Isle counties. Its towns run from Tawas City and Oscoda north to Harrisville and Rogers City. Molina is a Medicaid plan in all four, alongside McLaren, Blue Cross Complete and Priority Health Choice, and rehabs near beaches include Alpena treatment programs.

Molina rehab along the Au Sable River

The Au Sable River rises near Grayling in Crawford County and winds east through Oscoda County to Lake Huron at Oscoda in Iosco County. Molina covers all three counties, and the state’s listing shows Molina, McLaren and Blue Cross Complete as Oscoda County’s Medicaid plans, for treatment near rivers and programs in Grayling.

Molina rehab in the Huron National Forest

The Huron National Forest covers much of Iosco, Oscoda, Alcona, Crawford and Ogemaw counties, and Molina enrolls Medicaid members in each. The forest stretches from Mio toward the lakeshore. Molina’s Ogemaw County coverage reaches West Branch, and rehabs near national forests include treatment options in Mio.

How Do I Find a Rehab That Accepts Molina Healthcare in Michigan?

Browse the listings on this page. Molina Healthcare is accepted by the programs shown here, a filter for city, level of care or substance narrows them, and each listing carries a direct number. Substance use programs that bill Michigan Medicaid are licensed by Michigan’s Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.

Admission for Molina Medicaid members runs through the PIHP access line for the county where they live, which screens, authorizes the level of care and refers to a contracted program. Molina member services, (888) 898-7969 or locally (248) 925-1700, helps with plan questions, and people applying for coverage use MI Bridges.

Molina rehab in Detroit and Wayne County

In Wayne County, as in Oakland and Macomb, Molina competes with seven other Medicaid plans. Wayne and Macomb were among the first MI Coordinated Health areas in January 2026, the same month Molina’s dual plan began in select Michigan regions, and Medicaid treatment at rehab programs in Detroit runs through the Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network.

Molina rehab in Flint and Genesee County

Flint became Molina territory in 2015, when Molina Healthcare of Michigan took over HealthPlus Partners’ Medicaid contract and HealthPlus of Michigan’s MIChild members, expanding into Genesee County and the Saginaw and Bay area. Genesee Medicaid members now reach Region 10 PIHP at (888) 225-4447 for Flint addiction treatment.

Molina rehab in Saginaw, Bay City and Midland

Saginaw, Bay and Midland counties share the same four Medicaid plans, Molina, Blue Cross Complete, McLaren and Meridian, and all three sit in Mid-State Health Network. Molina’s presence there dates from the 2015 HealthPlus takeover, and treatment at Saginaw rehab centers or Bay City programs starts at (844) 405-3095.

Molina rehab in Grand Rapids and Kent County

Kent County Molina members choose among six Medicaid plans, and Molina is also a plan in neighboring Ottawa, Muskegon, Allegan and Ionia counties. Substance use treatment for all of them is authorized by the Lakeshore Regional Entity, apart from Ionia in Mid-State, before admission to Grand Rapids recovery programs.

Molina in Lansing and Ann Arbor

Molina’s coverage thins out in mid-Michigan and the southeast university towns: the state’s January 2025 listing puts it in Clinton County, north of Lansing, but not in Ingham, Eaton or Washtenaw. Medicaid members at Lansing treatment centers or in Ann Arbor therefore hold other plans, unless they live in Clinton County.

Can I use Molina Healthcare for rehab in a different county?

Only through the home PIHP, because Michigan Medicaid substance use treatment is authorized and referred by the PIHP for the member’s county of residence, not by Molina’s network. Molina does not sell Michigan Marketplace plans in 2026, despite older listings on its site, according to its 2025 annual report.

How much does rehab cost with Molina Healthcare in Michigan?

Very little for Molina Medicaid members. Michigan’s copay table charges nothing for mental health services in designated programs, no PIHP copay for substance use care appears in state materials, and Healthy Michigan Plan members pay office and pharmacy copays as applicable, with MI Health Account contributions ended in January 2024.

Molina members aged 65 and over should note that Molina is leaving standalone Medicare Advantage plans for 2027 while keeping its dual-eligible plans, and can compare Medicare-accepting rehabs. Michigan residents between coverage can filter for state-funded treatment in the listings.
