Teen Rehab Centers in Mississippi

Finding substance use care for a teenager in Mississippi often starts with a school counselor, a pediatrician, or a parent who has noticed a change and wants to know what help exists nearby. These listings gather adolescent programs across the state, from weekly outpatient visits to residential stays. The details come from government treatment registers, state licensing records, accreditor listings, and information providers send in themselves.

Mississippi law gives teens 15 and older some say over their own treatment, so young people and families both have a role in the decision. The sections below cover consent, privacy, payment, licensing and school, with Mississippi specifics where they exist.

Common questions about Teen Rehab

Answered from what is listed here.

Where are teen rehabs in Mississippi?

Mississippi teen rehab listings cluster in Ridgeland, Pontotoc, Flowood, Tupelo and Arnold Line. Families searching from farther away often start with these communities when comparing adolescent programs, intake steps and the levels of care each listing records.

Jackson, Tupelo and Oxford are the larger cities nearby for families who want to stay close to home or school. Ridgeland is a common starting point, and listings there show program details, payment routes and contact information.

Rehab Centers in Ridgelandhttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/mississippi/ridgeland/
Is teen rehab covered by Mississippi Medicaid?

Mississippi Medicaid is recorded as accepted by nearly all of the teen rehabs in Mississippi. A young person's care may run through a MississippiCAN plan such as Magnolia Health, Molina Healthcare or TrueCare, and a chart revised September 25, 2025 shows behavioral health services covered. Families can ask which plans a program works with.

Rehab Centers in Mississippi That Accept Mississippi Medicaidhttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/mississippi/mississippi-medicaid/
Are there teen rehabs near a river in Mississippi?

A river lies within 25 miles of most of the teen rehabs in Mississippi, and the median distance to the nearest river is about 14.9 miles from listed facilities. The most-named rivers are Browns Old River, Old River Run and the Tippah River.

Distances are measured from each listed facility, so families comparing programs can check how far a particular clinic sits from the river nearest to it.

Can a teen get substance use treatment without a parent’s consent in Mississippi?

Yes, in Mississippi a minor who is at least 15 can consent to treatment by a licensed physician or psychologist for mental or emotional problems caused by or related to alcohol or drugs. The rule is in Mississippi Code section 41-41-14. Younger teens generally need a parent or guardian to agree to care.

Because the statute names physicians and psychologists, a program run mainly by counselors may still ask for a parent’s signature. Intake staff can explain how their program applies the rule. Federal confidentiality rules for addiction treatment records also limit what a program can share without the patient’s written consent, and that includes sharing with family.

A Mississippi teen who agrees to care on their own has a say over those releases. Ask the admissions team what parents will and will not be told, and whether teens are invited to sign a release so family members can join sessions.

Teen programs range from after-school outpatient counseling to residential stays with round-the-clock staff, and each sets its own age limits. Mississippi Medicaid, through MississippiCAN plans, can cover behavioral health care for teens who qualify, while the Division of Medicaid decides whether a given teen belongs in Medicaid or in children’s health insurance.

What kinds of treatment programs are there for teens in Mississippi?

Teen listings in Mississippi include outpatient counseling, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization and residential stays, and some also list medically supervised detox. Which level fits depends on a clinical assessment, the teen’s safety at home, and how much structure the family needs.

Level of careWhat it usually involves
OutpatientIndividual, group or family sessions a few hours a week, often after school
Intensive outpatientSeveral sessions a week, with the teen living at home
Partial hospitalizationMost of the day on weekdays, returning home at night
ResidentialLiving on site with round-the-clock staff
DetoxMedical support while withdrawal is managed, then a move to ongoing care

Each program sets its own age limits. Where a provider has supplied its age range, the listing shows it. Ask about the range before calling about a 13-year-old, or about an 18-year-old still finishing high school.

Family therapy and parent sessions appear on many Mississippi teen listings, and some programs serve Spanish-speaking families. Teens dealing with depression, anxiety or trauma alongside substance use can also look at dual diagnosis programs.

Mississippi’s teen programs are mostly outside big cities: half sit in rural areas and 49 percent in towns. Ridgeland, Pontotoc and Flowood appear among the most common locations. The median distance to the nearest airport is 25.3 miles, and Tupelo Regional is the nearest airport more often than Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International. Seventy-seven percent are within 25 miles of a river, most often Browns Old River.

Does Medicaid or CHIP pay for teen treatment in Mississippi?

Mississippi Medicaid can cover behavioral health care for teens who qualify, usually through MississippiCAN, the state’s managed care program. The MississippiCAN plans are Magnolia Health, Molina Healthcare and TrueCare, and the Division of Medicaid’s plan comparison lists behavioral health services as covered. Children’s coverage depends on household income. The Division of Medicaid can tell a family whether a teen qualifies for Medicaid or for children’s health insurance (CHIP).

Mississippi has not expanded Medicaid to cover more adults, but that does not change the separate eligibility rules for children. Listings show Medicaid acceptance where providers report it. Families without coverage can look at state-funded programs or sliding-scale fees.

How can you tell whether a teen program in Mississippi is licensed?

The Mississippi Department of Mental Health, through its Division of Certification, certifies providers of substance use disorder services under its Operational Standards. Ask the program which DMH certification it holds and whether that certification covers adolescents. You can also compare the program against the Alcohol and Drug Services Resource Directory, which the department publishes on its website.

Wilderness camps and therapeutic boarding schools are not the same as certified treatment. Some offer outdoor or school programs without the clinical staff or state certification a treatment provider holds. Ask who provides the counseling, what credentials they hold, and how medical needs are handled.

Will my teen keep up with school during treatment in Mississippi?

Schooling during residential or day treatment varies from program to program, so ask before admission. Some Mississippi programs hold classes on site, and others coordinate with the teen’s home school district. Ask whether coursework earns credit, who sends records back to the school, and how a return to class is planned. Where a provider has supplied education details, the listing includes them.

Referral routes and urgent help

Referrals for Mississippi teens often come from a school counselor, a pediatrician, or a youth court. The DMH Helpline, 1-877-210-8513, is staffed around the clock and can point families to services.

If a teen talks about self-harm or may have overdosed, call or text 988, or call 911 in an emergency. Mississippi’s Good Samaritan law protects a person who, in good faith, seeks medical help for someone who is overdosing from arrest or prosecution for a drug violation. A statewide standing order also lets pharmacists dispense naloxone to anyone, regardless of age.
