Treatment Centers in Montana That Accept Aetna

Aetna covers drug and alcohol rehab in Montana through employer health plans, federal employee coverage and SilverScript Medicare drug plans, with First Choice Health supplying its provider network in the state. Aetna sells no Montana marketplace plan and runs no Montana Medicaid plan, so the card a member carries sets the rules.

The listings below draw on government treatment registers and Montana licensing records. Each one gives the facility’s phone number, the levels of care it provides and any accreditation from The Joint Commission or CARF. Browse the listings below and narrow them by city or level of care to see what is listed nearby.

Why Trust RehabSeekers.com?

Every listing has a source: an official register, a licensing record, or details the facility sent us.

Credentials shown honestly. Accreditation, licensing and registration listed separately.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Contact details always go direct. Calls reach the facility itself, never a call centre.

Does Aetna Cover Rehab in Montana?

Yes, for members of Aetna employer and federal plans, with the Montana provider network supplied by a partner. First Choice Health, which began in the Seattle area, states that it is the network for Aetna in Montana, Wyoming and western South Dakota, and its PPO network includes addiction medicine, psychiatry, psychology and counseling providers serving treatment programs in Montana.

Aetna is the brand of Aetna Life Insurance Company and its affiliates, part of CVS Health, and it administers far more self-funded employer plans than it insures, so employers often set benefits. Aetna left every individual exchange for 2026, and Montana Medicaid uses no managed care plans, so rehabs that accept Aetna see job-based, federal and Medicare cards.

Does Aetna Cover Inpatient Rehab in Montana?

Yes, when the member’s plan includes it. Aetna’s behavioral health precertification list treats a stay in a substance use disorder facility or a residential treatment center as an inpatient confinement that can be covered once precertified, and short-term rehab with insurance in Montana bills under that rule. The list applies only to services the plan covers, so levels vary.

How long will Aetna pay for a residential stay in Montana?

For as long as continued-stay reviews find the care medically necessary under the plan, since Aetna’s general materials give no set number of days. Reviewers use The ASAM Criteria for addiction treatment, LOCUS for adult mental health and CALOCUS-CASII for children and teens, alongside Aetna Clinical Policy Bulletins and MCG guidelines as supplemental criteria.

Does Aetna require precertification for rehab in Montana?

Yes, for inpatient confinements, residential treatment and partial hospitalization, under the behavioral health list in force since August 1, 2024. Providers call 1-888-632-3862 for commercial plans and 1-800-624-0756 for Medicare plans. The list does not apply to Traditional Choice, indemnity or federal employee plans, and state law can override it where it applies.

Does Aetna Cover Detox in Montana?

Yes. One 2026 Aetna Choice POS II plan document, written for a New York employer, covers ambulatory and outpatient detoxification with medication administration, and an earlier Aetna list says outpatient detox stopped needing precertification on January 1, 2019. Detox inside a hospital or facility stay counts as an inpatient confinement, so medical detox with insurance begins with precertification.

Does Aetna Cover Outpatient Rehab in Montana?

Yes. Aetna plans cover outpatient addiction treatment, and the same New York plan document lists office visits, therapy, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient programs and peer counseling by supervised peer support specialists. Intensive outpatient no longer appears on Aetna’s precertification list, which helps members starting IOP programs that take insurance.

Aetna members in rural Montana can also use virtual care. Aetna names CVS Virtual Care and Teladoc Health for therapy and psychiatry seven days a week, though CVS Virtual Care is not open to every member, and it describes virtual access to counselors and psychiatrists within three days or less, a route to online rehab and telehealth.

Does Aetna Cover Suboxone, Methadone and Other Addiction Medications in Montana?

Yes, within each plan’s drug list. Aetna dropped prior authorization for buprenorphine products such as Suboxone on its commercial plans in March 2017, and CVS Caremark, a CVS Health sister company, runs Aetna pharmacy benefits. Members look up a drug by plan year and plan name on aetna.com, and Suboxone programs taking insurance prescribe within those tiers.

Does Aetna cover methadone for Montana members?

For Medicare members, yes, through enrolled opioid treatment programs: Medicare pays for methadone, buprenorphine and naltrexone with counseling, drug testing and peer support, and Original Medicare charges no copay there once the Part B deductible is met. Aetna’s own sources give no single commercial methadone rule, so job-based members ask the plan before using methadone medication clinics.

Can Montana retirees get addiction medications through an Aetna drug plan?

Yes, through SilverScript, the stand-alone Part D brand Aetna sells in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. A Montana resident on Original Medicare can choose one, and Part D may cover some medications for opioid use disorder, so naltrexone with insurance and buprenorphine appear plan by plan in the SilverScript drug search for that year.

Aetna Rehab Centers in Montana Ski Country, Hot Springs and Wilderness

Aetna applies one precertification list whether a Montana program sits beside a ski hill, a hot spring or a wilderness boundary. The setting does not change the benefit; network status does, because it decides the member’s share on plans that pay anything outside the network, and the network partner in Montana is First Choice Health.

Aetna rehab near ski resorts

Ski country in Montana runs from Whitefish in Flathead County to Big Sky in Gallatin and Madison counties, Bridger Bowl north of Bozeman and Red Lodge in Carbon County. Rehabs near ski resorts and Whitefish treatment programs follow the usual Aetna rule: with an out-of-network program, the member arranges precertification.

Aetna rehab near hot springs

Hot springs country includes Chico near Pray in Park County, Boulder in Jefferson County and Fairmont near Anaconda. Aetna EPO and HMO designs cover out-of-network care only in an emergency, while Choice POS II and Open Choice PPO pay a smaller share, so rehabs near hot springs and Livingston rehab programs cost more off network.

Aetna rehab near wilderness areas

Wilderness settings include the Bob Marshall Wilderness east of the Flathead Valley and the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness above Red Lodge and Livingston. Where no in-network program is close, an Aetna member can ask for an out-of-network program at the in-network benefit level, a request that itself needs precertification, and rehabs near wilderness areas show distances.

How Do I Find a Rehab That Accepts Aetna in Montana?

Browse the listings on this page. Each program shown names Aetna among the insurance it takes, and filters sort the results by city, level of care and substance. Listings give the facility’s phone number, so the first call can go to the program itself, and rehabs taking private insurance appear on a broader page.

Admission with Aetna in Montana starts with the number on the member ID card, which reaches the plan team that handles precertification for inpatient, residential or partial hospitalization care. An in-network program sends that request; with an out-of-network program the member arranges it. The ways Aetna coverage reaches Montana residents are below.

Coverage lineHow Aetna is involvedNetwork or contact

Aetna rehab in Billings

First Choice Health runs its Big Sky Region office in Billings and has served that region since 1996, so Aetna members around Billings rely on a network partner with a local office. The same precertification list governs a residential stay whether the program is in Heights Billings programs or out toward Hardin.

Aetna rehab in Missoula

Missoula holds First Choice Health’s second Montana office. Employers can also rent the First Choice Health PPO network directly and set their own benefits, so a Missoula worker may see that network name on a card that Aetna does not issue. The plan named on the card, not the network, decides coverage at downtown Missoula programs.

Aetna rehab in Bozeman and Gallatin County

Federal workers in Bozeman and Belgrade who chose the Mail Handlers Benefit Plan carry an Aetna-administered card with the same benefits, phone numbers and Aetna Choice POS II network as in every other state. Behavioral health on MHBP runs through Aetna, and the plan’s numbers reach members using Bozeman rehab programs.

Aetna rehab in Helena and Great Falls

State employees in Helena are not on Aetna: the State of Montana Benefit Plan is administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana. Aetna cards in Helena and Great Falls come from private employers, federal plans and SilverScript, and postal rural carriers on the Rural Carrier Benefit Plan reach downtown Helena rehab programs through Aetna.

Can I use Aetna for rehab outside Montana?

Yes, on plans with out-of-network benefits or a national network. Choice POS II and Open Choice PPO pay for out-of-network care at a lower level. Employer plans from Mountain Health CO-OP and PacificSource, and Trustmark small business plans, rent the Aetna Signature Administrators network for care elsewhere, but members of those plans follow their own plan’s rules.

How much does rehab cost with Aetna in Montana?

Costs depend on the plan, and no Montana Aetna plan summary was available. Two Choice POS II summaries from out-of-state employers, Bates College in Maine for 2026 and Washington and Lee University in Virginia for 2025-26, show office copays in network and 20 percent coinsurance out of network, plus a penalty for skipping preauthorization of out-of-network inpatient care.

Out-of-network programs can bill Aetna members above the recognized amount, and those extra charges do not count toward the deductible or out-of-pocket maximum. Listings here also show self-pay rehab options and programs offering payment assistance, which matter when an Aetna plan pays little outside its network.
