Women's Rehab Centers in Montana

Women looking for drug or alcohol treatment in Montana can choose between programs that admit only women and separate women’s tracks run inside co-ed programs. These options are spread from Billings and Great Falls to Kalispell, Helena and Livingston. Most of these listings sit in towns or rural areas rather than big cities, so travel distance and childcare often shape the choice as much as the program itself.

The listings on these pages draw on government treatment registers, state licensing records, accreditor listings, and details that providers send us themselves. Use them to compare levels of care, ways to pay and admission rules. Then call intake staff to confirm what applies to you.

Why Trust RehabSeekers.com?

Every listing has a source: an official register, a licensing record, or details the facility sent us.

Credentials shown honestly. Accreditation, licensing and registration listed separately.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Common questions about Women's Rehab

Answered from what is listed here.

Which Montana cities have women's rehabs?

Women's rehab listings in Montana cluster in Billings, Great Falls, Kalispell, Helena and Orchard Homes. Bozeman is another larger city to include if a search widens. Asking intake staff whether a program serves women only or simply admits women is a useful first question before comparing programs.

Rehab Centers in Billingshttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/montana/billings/
Do women's rehabs in Montana accept Medicaid?

Passport to Health enrollment covers the majority of Montana Medicaid members, under a fee-for-service system with no managed care plans and primary care case management at its core. Nearly all of the women's rehabs in Montana record accepting Montana Medicaid as payment for treatment.

Billing goes directly to the state program rather than a health plan, so the main checks before admission are whether a program is enrolled with Montana Medicaid and whether coverage is active.

Rehab Centers in Montana That Accept Montana Medicaidhttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/montana/montana-medicaid/
Are there women's rehabs near a river in Montana?

The Clarks Fork Yellowstone River, the Sun River and the Bitterroot River are the rivers named near women's rehabs in Montana. Most of the women's rehabs in Montana sit within 25 miles of a river, and the median distance from each listing to the nearest river is about 7.5 miles.

Rehab Centers Near Rivershttps://rehabseekers.com/attractions/rivers/

What women-only treatment options are there in Montana?

Women-only treatment in Montana comes in two forms: programs that admit only women, and women’s tracks inside co-ed programs. Women’s listings across the state include detox, residential care and intensive outpatient groups, and each listing shows which of these it offers.

Many providers also describe trauma-informed counseling, care for co-occurring mental health conditions, and the languages and populations they serve. Those are services a program offers, so ask how each one runs in practice, along with age limits, phone and visit rules and whether medications for substance use disorders are allowed.

Programs paid through the federal block grant have to put pregnant women at the front of the admission line, and Montana law shields a pregnant woman seeking treatment from the state’s listed drug statutes. Some programs also allow children to live on site with their mother or offer childcare, though many do not.

Rural settings hold most of Montana’s women’s listings and the rest are in towns, and most sit within 25 miles of a river, chiefly the Clarks Fork Yellowstone River. The median elevation is 3,250 feet, and the nearest airport is a median of 5.8 miles away, with Billings Logan International closest for more listings than any other.

Do pregnant women get priority for treatment in Montana?

Yes: programs that receive the federal substance use block grant must admit pregnant women ahead of other applicants. The rule is 45 CFR 96.131. When no bed is open, the program must arrange interim services within 48 hours. In Montana, the block grant is administered by the Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Division (BHDD) of the Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS). BHDD also funds programs for women. No separate Montana rule on priority admission was found beyond the federal requirement.

Montana law adds a protection for pregnant women seeking care. Under 50-32-609 MCA, as amended in 2019, the listed drug statutes do not apply to a pregnant woman who is seeking or receiving evaluation, treatment or support for a substance use disorder.

Mention your pregnancy on the first call. Ask whether the program offers or coordinates medication for opioid use disorder during pregnancy, and how prenatal care is arranged. Ask DPHHS or your Medicaid caseworker how long postpartum coverage lasts under current rules. Programs that list pregnancy services are gathered on the rehab for pregnant women in Montana page.

Can you bring your children to treatment in Montana?

Some Montana programs let children stay with their mother or provide childcare, but many do not, so check each listing before you call. Listings that mention these services are collected on the rehab with childcare in Montana page. Questions to ask intake staff:

  • What age limits apply to children?
  • How many children can stay?
  • How is schooling handled?
  • Does childcare cover all program hours or only group sessions?

Where no residential option fits, an evening intensive outpatient group can let a mother keep her family routine.

How do women pay for treatment in Montana?

Women in Montana usually pay through one of these, depending on what each program accepts:

  • Montana Medicaid
  • State-funded slots
  • Sliding-scale fees
  • Private insurance
  • TRICARE

DPHHS runs Montana Medicaid as Montana Healthcare Programs, and most members are enrolled in Passport to Health. Expanded coverage began on January 1, 2016. Under the HEART waiver, Medicaid also pays for short-term residential stays in larger treatment facilities. See programs that accept Medicaid, state-funded rehab in Montana and sliding-scale options.

The Montana Medicaid fee schedule effective July 1, 2025 shows what Medicaid pays programs. These are not amounts a member pays.

Level of careMedicaid rate
Low-intensity residential, single sex facility (ASAM 3.1)$147.79 per day
High-intensity residential (ASAM 3.5)$264.66 per day
Intensive outpatient (ASAM 2.1)$398.17 per week

How is a recovery residence for women different from treatment in Montana?

A recovery residence is a substance-free home where women live during recovery; it is not licensed treatment and does not provide clinical care. Treatment programs and residences are overseen differently in Montana:

  • Treatment programs are licensed through DPHHS Health Care Facility Licensure. The BHDD Treatment Bureau separately grants state approval under 53-24-208 MCA, so you can ask DPHHS whether a program holds both.
  • Recovery residences need no state license. They may be certified by an organization recognized by DPHHS under 53-24-310 MCA. Recovery Access Montana is the state’s NARR affiliate.

Since 2023, judges may not refer people to uncertified residences. You can browse sober living in Montana separately from treatment listings.

What to ask before admission

Ask intake staff these questions before you commit:

  • What age range does the program accept?
  • What is the policy on gender identity?
  • Are medications for substance use disorders allowed?
  • What are the rules on phones and visits?
  • How does discharge planning work, including what happens after a return to use?

No Montana treatment helpline was found. For a mental health crisis, call or text 988. For program referrals, call the national treatment referral line. More background is on the national women’s rehab page, and every program type is listed under rehab in Montana.
