DUI and DWI Programs in Nebraska

DUI and DWI programs in Nebraska are not one standard class. A judge or probation officer sets the conditions for each case, and those can include a substance use evaluation, an education class, treatment, alcohol monitoring or supervision through a DUI court. The listings below show providers that report working with people referred after an impaired-driving charge.

Nebraska listings for this service appear in Lincoln, Omaha, North Platte, Columbus, Norfolk and Alliance, and 57 percent are in rural settings. Most programs are within 25 miles of a river, a median of 9.6 miles away. Lincoln Airport is the nearest airport most often, at a median distance of 7.1 miles.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Contact details always go direct. Calls reach the facility itself, never a call centre.

Common questions about DUI and DWI Programs

Answered from what is listed here.

Where are DUI programs in Nebraska?

Usually, Nebraska DUI and DWI program listings turn up first in Lincoln, followed by North Platte, Columbus, Norfolk and Alliance. Drivers ordered to complete a program can start by looking near the closest of these places.

Lincoln, North Platte and Columbus are also the larger cities nearby, so a driver with a suspended license may need a ride or a schedule that fits around transport. Ask intake staff about evening sessions.

Rehab Centers in Lincolnhttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/nebraska/lincoln-ne/
Do DUI programs in Nebraska take Nebraska Medicaid?

UnitedHealthcare Community Plan is one of the Heritage Health plans, alongside Nebraska Total Care and Molina Healthcare of Nebraska, that deliver Nebraska Medicaid. Nearly all of the DUI and DWI programs in Nebraska record accepting it, with benefits tied to the member's own plan. Intake staff can say what that plan covers.

Rehab Centers in Nebraska That Accept Nebraska Medicaid (Heritage Health)https://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/nebraska/nebraska-medicaid-heritage-health/
Are there DUI programs near a river in Nebraska?

Rivers near DUI and DWI programs in Nebraska include the West Fork Big Blue River, the South Platte River and the Loup River. Most of the DUI and DWI programs in Nebraska sit within 25 miles of a river, with a median of about 9.6 miles to the nearest.

Each distance runs from a program to its closest river. For regular outpatient sessions, the drive to appointments usually matters more than a river setting, so weigh travel time first.

What DUI or DWI program does Nebraska require, and who sets it?

Nebraska has no single statewide DUI education program with an official name. The sentencing court sets the conditions under Nebraska Revised Statute 60-6,197.03. For a person with three or more prior convictions, that statute lists probation conditions that include continuous alcohol monitoring and abstention for at least 90 to 180 days.

Some Nebraska cases go to a DUI court. These courts are among the state’s 35 problem-solving courts, which are overseen by the Nebraska Supreme Court Committee on Problem-Solving Courts. Statute 24-1302 required at least one core problem-solving court in every judicial district by January 1, 2024.

Clinical treatment follows separate rules. In Nebraska, residential treatment programs need a Mental Health Substance Use Treatment Center license from the Licensure Unit of the Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health. RehabSeekers.com does not state whether any listed provider meets a particular court’s requirements, so check with the court before you enroll. More on court referrals is on the court-ordered rehab in Nebraska page.

How does a DUI evaluation decide which program or treatment you need in Nebraska?

A substance use evaluation looks at your alcohol and drug use and recommends a level of care, and the court or probation may then require that care. Your court order or probation officer will say whether an evaluation is needed and who can do it. Nebraska practice can differ from county to county.

StepWhat it involves
Education classClassroom hours on alcohol, drugs and driving
EvaluationAn interview and questionnaires that lead to a recommended level of care
TreatmentClinical care, from weekly counseling to a residential stay

Treatment after a DUI can take several forms. Providers in these listings report standard outpatient care, intensive outpatient programs and residential treatment. Some also offer medication for alcohol or opioid use disorder. People whose evaluation points mainly to drinking can also browse alcohol rehab in Nebraska.

Can you complete a DUI or DWI program online in Nebraska?

An online DUI class counts in Nebraska only if your court or probation officer accepts it. We found no statewide agency rule on online courses, so get written acceptance before you pay for a virtual class.

Nebraska law does allow remote treatment. Under statute 71-8506, Nebraska Medicaid does not require in-person contact for covered services and pays for telehealth at least at the in-person rate. Video counseling may therefore fit an outpatient recommendation, if the court agrees. Providers that offer remote care are on the telehealth rehab page.

How do you pay for a DUI program or court-ordered treatment in Nebraska?

Class and evaluation fees in Nebraska are set by each provider, because we found no state-published fee schedule. Clinical treatment can be paid for with private insurance, Nebraska Medicaid, a sliding fee scale or state-funded services.

Nebraska Medicaid runs through Heritage Health. Adults covered under the expansion that began October 1, 2020, are enrolled in Heritage Health Adult. The three health plans are Nebraska Total Care, Molina Healthcare of Nebraska and UnitedHealthcare Community Plan. You can filter listings by Medicaid acceptance.

Public services in Nebraska are organized into six behavioral health regions, from Region 1 in the Panhandle to Region 6 in metro Omaha. For lower-cost options, see state-funded rehab and sliding-scale programs. Providers offering Spanish or interpreter services are on the Spanish-speaking rehab page.

What happens after you finish the program, and how do you get your license back?

After you finish, the provider reports your completion in the way your court order requires. License reinstatement and any ignition interlock requirement are handled by the court and Nebraska’s motor vehicle agency, not by the program. Contact both for your exact conditions. Finishing a program does not guarantee any change to your charges.

Have these ready when you first call a provider:

  • your court or probation paperwork
  • any evaluation results
  • your completion deadline
  • the name of the person who should receive proof of completion

Ask how attendance is recorded and how fast the provider can send completion reports.

Listings draw on government treatment registers, state licensing records, accreditor listings and details sent in by the providers themselves. Program sites range from 1,210 to 3,950 feet in elevation, with a median of 2,810 feet. For other services in the state, start at the Nebraska rehab directory.

If you need help now, call or text 988. You can also call the national treatment referral line or Nebraska’s Rural Response Hotline at (800) 464-0258. Families worried about a young person can call the Nebraska Family Helpline at (888) 866-8660, 24 hours a day.
