Treatment Centers in New Mexico That Accept Cigna

Cigna Healthcare pays for drug and alcohol rehab in New Mexico through employer health plans, with behavioral health run by its sister company Evernorth Behavioral Health. Cigna sells no individual, Medicare or Medicaid medical plans in the state, so coverage reaches New Mexicans through an employer or a family member’s job.

Facilities on this page come from government treatment registers and state licensing records. Each listing shows a phone number, the levels of care offered and accreditation from The Joint Commission or CARF where it exists. Use the filters to narrow the listings below by city, level of care or substance.

Does Cigna Cover Rehab in New Mexico?

Yes, on Cigna employer plans. Cigna lists substance use benefits for employer members as inpatient and outpatient treatment combined with follow-up case management, and members pay their share under the plan. A worker in Rio Rancho addiction programs or Hobbs gets the same Open Access Plus or PPO national network as one in Connecticut.

Cigna’s role in New Mexico is narrower than in many states. Its Medicare business went to Health Care Service Corporation on March 19, 2025 and became HealthSpring on January 1, 2026, and Cigna’s individual plans were never sold here. Behavioral claims, authorizations and the network run through Evernorth behavioral health, formerly Cigna Behavioral Health.

Does Cigna Cover Inpatient Rehab in New Mexico?

Yes. Cigna’s substance use guide describes inpatient detox with 24-hour medical care, inpatient acute care after detox and inpatient residential treatment of 28 days or more, each judged against medical necessity guidelines. Inpatient rehab centers and insured residential programs work through Evernorth for authorization before or at admission.

Does Cigna need prior authorization for inpatient rehab in New Mexico?

Yes. Evernorth’s authorization grid requires it for substance use inpatient or rehab stays, dual diagnosis inpatient care, inpatient detoxification and residential treatment. Facility staff complete a face-to-face assessment, then call Cigna with the clinical details using the number on the back of the ID card. Cigna’s published disclosures say inpatient and non-routine outpatient services are subject to authorization.

How long will Cigna pay for residential rehab in New Mexico?

Cigna pays for the residential days Evernorth finds medically necessary using The ASAM Criteria, the guide it names for substance use levels of care. Cigna describes inpatient residential programs as running 28 days or more, but the authorized length comes from those reviews and the employer’s plan, which matters for long-term insured rehab.

Does Cigna Cover Detox in New Mexico?

Yes. Cigna describes two detox settings: ambulatory detox, which Evernorth lists as needing no authorization, and inpatient detox with 24-hour medical care, which does need it. Medical detox with insurance usually starts inside a facility stay, so the program calls Evernorth on admission, while ambulatory detox programs can begin without that call.

Does Cigna Cover Outpatient Rehab in New Mexico?

Yes. Cigna’s guide describes intensive outpatient programs at three to five days a week for three to four hours a day, and partial hospitalization at five to seven days a week for six to eight hours. Evernorth’s grid leaves authorization for both to the customer’s plan, so the program calls before starting.

Routine outpatient care is simpler. Evernorth lists 30 to 60 minute psychotherapy sessions, family and group therapy, diagnostic evaluations and medication management visits as needing no authorization, and Cigna’s access standard for routine care is within 10 working days. Employer plans carry no separate behavioral deductible, and online rehab and telehealth runs through MDLIVE, Talkspace and others.

Does Cigna Cover Suboxone, Methadone and Other Addiction Medications in New Mexico?

Yes. Evernorth’s grid lists buprenorphine induction and methadone as outpatient services that need no authorization, and Cigna ended prior authorization for buprenorphine medications in October 2016 under a New York Attorney General settlement. Pharmacy claims go through Express Scripts, and MAT clinics taking insurance bill the medical side.

Does Cigna cover Suboxone?

Yes. Cigna’s Standard 3-Tier drug list for coverage starting January 1, 2027 places buprenorphine-naloxone on Tier 1, Zubsolv on Tier 2 and brand Suboxone on Tier 3, with no prior authorization flag on any of them. Suboxone covered by insurance on a self-funded plan follows whichever list the employer chose.

Does Cigna cover methadone?

Yes, as a provider-administered outpatient service. Evernorth lists methadone among services that need no authorization, and the member’s share follows the plan’s outpatient terms. Methadone maintenance programs bill Cigna as a behavioral health service rather than through the pharmacy, since opioid treatment programs dispense the medication on site.

Does Cigna cover alcohol use disorder medications?

Yes. The same Standard 3-Tier list places acamprosate on Tier 1 and Lucemyra, used for opioid withdrawal, on Tier 2 with a quantity limit. For 2026 Cigna moved brand Narcan to Tier 3 from July 1 and named generic naloxone as the lower-cost choice. Acamprosate with insurance appears in the listings by program.

Cigna Rehab Centers in New Mexico National Forests, Wilderness and Canyon Country

New Mexico’s public lands give Cigna members several settings to weigh, and the plan rules travel with them. Because Open Access Plus and PPO plans use a national network with out-of-network benefits, a program in New Mexico rehab centers is judged on network status and medical necessity, not on its distance from a city.

Cigna rehab near national forests

National forest settings include the Gila National Forest around Silver City in Grant County, the Lincoln National Forest above Ruidoso and Alamogordo, and the Cibola National Forest east of Albuquerque and near Grants. Rehabs near national forests and Silver City treatment programs need Evernorth authorization for residential stays.

Cigna rehab near wilderness areas

Wilderness settings center on the Pecos Wilderness above Pecos in San Miguel County and the Gila Wilderness north of Silver City. Out-of-network coverage on Open Access Plus and PPO plans means a remote program off Cigna’s network can still be paid at the out-of-network level. Rehabs near wilderness areas list their accepted plans.

Cigna rehab in canyon country

Canyon settings run along the Rio Grande Gorge west of Taos and through the mesas of Sandoval and Rio Arriba counties. SureFit plans in Cigna’s lineup carry no out-of-network coverage, so members on that design need an in-network program there. Rehabs near canyons and Taos Pueblo area programs show their insurance details.

How Do I Find a Rehab That Accepts Cigna in New Mexico?

Browse the listings on this page. Each one names the insurance the program accepts, and the filters sort by city, setting and level of care. Every listing includes a phone number, so the program can be called directly about Cigna, and rehabs that accept Cigna in other states are grouped on one page.

Admission for inpatient, residential or detox care runs through Evernorth authorization, started by the program after its assessment. Cigna’s behavioral health benefits line, 1 (800) 433-5768, answers 24 hours a day, every day of the year, for members checking what their plan pays. The table sets out which Cigna coverage lines reach New Mexico residents.

Cigna rehab in Albuquerque and the metro area

Albuquerque members get Cigna’s stated access standards: urgent behavioral appointments within 48 hours and routine ones within 10 working days, with non-life-threatening emergencies seen within six hours. Programs near Northeast Heights treatment centers handle routine therapy without authorization, and evening intensive outpatient needs a plan check.

Cigna rehab in Santa Fe and Los Alamos

Santa Fe and Los Alamos employers that buy a fully insured Cigna plan issued in New Mexico come under Senate Bill 317, which removed copays, coinsurance and deductibles for covered behavioral health services from January 1, 2022. Members near downtown Los Alamos programs on self-funded plans follow the employer’s own cost terms instead.

Cigna rehab in Las Cruces and the El Paso border

Las Cruces members on Open Access Plus have no referral requirement and keep out-of-network coverage, and the national network crosses the Texas line into El Paso. A contracted program on either side bills at the in-network level, while downtown Las Cruces programs off the network fall to the plan’s lower out-of-network tier.

Smaller employers in Chaves, Lea and Eddy counties with five or more workers can buy self-funded or level-funded coverage from Trustmark Small Business Benefits, sold in every state but Washington, which offers the Cigna PPO network as one option. Allegiance, a Cigna-owned administrator, also serves self-funded plans nationally, which can bring Carlsbad rehab programs into the Cigna network.

Can I use Cigna for rehab outside New Mexico?

Yes, on Open Access Plus and PPO plans, which use Cigna’s national network and pay out-of-network care at a lower level. SureFit plans have no out-of-network coverage and LocalPlus lock-in versions restrict it. An out-of-state residential stay still needs Evernorth authorization, and the employer’s plan sets what share the member pays there.

How much does rehab cost with Cigna?

Costs follow the employer’s plan. Cigna plan documents usually show a flat copay for outpatient therapy and coinsurance after the deductible for inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient care. On fully insured plans issued in New Mexico, covered in-network behavioral health care carries no cost sharing, but HSA-eligible high-deductible plans keep theirs.

Cigna is one of several payers listed for New Mexico programs. Members who lose employer coverage can look at Medicaid rehab coverage through Turquoise Care or sliding scale programs, and the listings below show each program’s accepted payment types next to its levels of care.
