Why Trust RehabSeekers.com?

RehabSeekers is an independent behavioral health directory covering drug and alcohol addiction and mental health treatment providers.

Every listing has a source: an official register, a licensing record, or details the facility sent us.

Credentials shown honestly. Accreditation, licensing and registration listed separately.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Contact details always go direct. Calls reach the facility itself, never a call centre.

Does Turquoise Care Cover Rehab in New Mexico?

Yes. Turquoise Care covers substance use disorder treatment in every New Mexico county, because all four of its health plans operate statewide. A member looking for Albuquerque rehab programs has the same plan choices as one in Gallup or Hobbs, and behavioral health sits inside each plan’s benefit rather than in a separate carve-out.

Turquoise Care replaced Centennial Care on July 1, 2024, the same day the Human Services Department became the New Mexico Health Care Authority. The authority’s Medical Assistance Division runs the program as the state’s Medicaid coverage program, and its Behavioral Health Services Division is the single state authority for substance use treatment and the state methadone authority.

Does Turquoise Care Cover Inpatient Rehab in New Mexico?

Yes. Turquoise Care covers residential treatment programs for members 18 and older who meet ASAM level three criteria, paid in three tiers: ASAM 3.1, then 3.2-WM, 3.3 and 3.5, then the medically monitored 3.7 and 3.7-WM. Hospital addiction treatment at ASAM level 4 is covered too. Each residential center must hold Joint Commission, CARF or COA accreditation and state certification.

How long will Turquoise Care pay for residential rehab in New Mexico?

Turquoise Care sets no fixed length of stay for residential substance use treatment. The Health Care Authority’s April 2025 behavioral health manual says the level and duration follow the member’s progress, so longer Medicaid residential stays can be authorized. A federal waiver also lets Medicaid pay for short-term stays in larger treatment institutions for members ages 22 to 64.

Does Turquoise Care need prior authorization for inpatient rehab in New Mexico?

Not for the first five days of in-state adult residential treatment. Authorization is needed for a continued stay after that, for any out-of-state residential placement and for ASAM level 4 hospital care. Presbyterian’s June 2026 provider guide follows the same pattern for its members: no authorization until day six, with notice to the plan inside the first five days.

Does Turquoise Care Cover Detox in New Mexico?

Yes. Turquoise Care covers Medicaid medical detox programs at four levels: ambulatory 2-WM, clinically managed residential 3.2-WM, medically monitored 3.7-WM with 24-hour nursing, and medically managed 4-WM in acute care hospitals. The ambulatory and both residential levels need no prior authorization. In 2026 BCBSNM and Molina also list help paying for sober living homes after detox.

Does Turquoise Care Cover Outpatient Rehab in New Mexico?

Yes. Turquoise Care covers outpatient addiction treatment, Medicaid intensive outpatient programs and partial hospitalization as separate services, and intensive outpatient can be paired with low-intensity ASAM 3.1 residential care. ASAM level 1 outpatient services need no prior authorization, and Presbyterian lets partial hospitalization run to day 46 before an authorization is required.

Turquoise Care also pays for peer support, wellness and drop-in centers, screening and brief intervention, and Comprehensive Community Support Services, which can be billed for discharge planning after a residential stay. Those services carry members into aftercare and continuing care. The program added dialectical behavior therapy, EMDR and mobile crisis services when it launched in 2024.

Does Turquoise Care Cover Suboxone, Methadone and Other Addiction Medications in New Mexico?

Yes. Since July 1, 2024 the Health Care Authority’s Letter of Direction 9 has barred Turquoise Care plans from requiring prior authorization for medications for addiction treatment, including methadone, any buprenorphine formulation for opioid use disorder, and naltrexone. Plans may still require a generic unless the prescriber hand-writes brand medically necessary. MAT clinics taking Medicaid work under that rule.

Does Turquoise Care cover methadone?

Yes. Turquoise Care covers methadone clinic treatment through opioid treatment programs that the Behavioral Health Services Division regulates under 8.321.10 NMAC. The authority repealed and replaced that rule in 2026 to match federal 42 CFR Part 8 and widen access to medications for opioid use disorder, with a stated start date of April 24, 2026.

Does Turquoise Care cover Suboxone?

Yes. Turquoise Care covers Suboxone through Medicaid without prior authorization, and adult residential programs must provide medication for opioid use disorder. Pharmacy claims run through each plan’s manager: Prime Therapeutics for BCBSNM, Capital Rx for Presbyterian, CVS Caremark for Molina, Optum Rx for UnitedHealthcare and Conduent for fee-for-service members.

Does Turquoise Care cover naloxone and naltrexone?

Yes. Turquoise Care plans must reimburse pharmacies and providers for nasal Narcan and naloxone kits and pay a counseling incentive fee when they are dispensed. Naltrexone covered by Medicaid falls under the same no-authorization letter. A single statewide Medicaid preferred drug list moved to a July 1, 2026 start, with a soft launch of at least six months.

Turquoise Care Rehab Centers in the Mountains, Along the Rio Grande and in the Desert

Turquoise Care works the same way in rehab centers across New Mexico, because all four plans serve every county. The setting a member picks does not change the benefit, the plan or the five-day residential rule; it changes the drive. Listings note each facility’s nearest mountains, rivers or desert so distance can be weighed early.

Turquoise Care rehab in the mountains and national forests

Mountain treatment under Turquoise Care centers on Santa Fe, San Miguel and Taos counties, where the Sangre de Cristo Mountains rise above Santa Fe, Pecos and Taos inside the Santa Fe and Carson national forests. Rehabs near mountains and programs near national forests there take the same four plans as programs in the Albuquerque metro.

Turquoise Care rehab along the Rio Grande

River settings follow the Rio Grande from Velarde and Española south through Albuquerque, Belen and Socorro to Las Cruces. Rehab centers near rivers in Rio Arriba, Bernalillo, Valencia and Doña Ana counties all accept every Turquoise Care plan, and treatment programs in Velarde sit at the valley’s northern end, near the Rio Arriba County line.

Turquoise Care rehab in the desert

Desert treatment under Turquoise Care means the Chihuahuan Desert of Doña Ana, Otero and Luna counties, around Las Cruces, Alamogordo and Deming. Rehabs in desert regions there are reachable with Medicaid non-emergency rides; BCBSNM members book through Modivcare at 1-866-913-4342 at least three working days ahead, and Presbyterian members call 1-855-774-7737.

How Do I Find a Rehab That Accepts Turquoise Care in New Mexico?

Browse the listings on this page. Each program shown accepts Turquoise Care or New Mexico Medicaid, and the filters narrow them by city, level of care and substance. Every listing gives the facility’s phone number, so a call goes straight to the program, and rehabs that accept Medicaid nationwide sit on a separate page.

Admission runs through the member’s health plan whenever authorization applies, such as a residential stay past day five or hospital-level care. A program found here can send that request, or the member can call the plan’s member services line and name the program. Health Care Authority customer service at 1-800-283-4465 handles plan choice and eligibility questions.

Turquoise Care rehab in Albuquerque and Rio Rancho

Albuquerque and Rio Rancho members can pick any Turquoise Care plan, and Presbyterian handles most children in state custody through (505) 923-8417. Under the 2025 Behavioral Health Reform and Investment Act, Albuquerque’s Region 2 plan was one of the first two regional plans the state had accepted by July 2026. Rio Rancho treatment centers fall under the same arrangement.

Turquoise Care rehab in Santa Fe and Los Alamos

Santa Fe is home to the Health Care Authority’s Behavioral Health Services Division, and the Santa Fe area’s Region 1 plan was the other regional behavioral health plan accepted by July 2026. Members around drug rehabs in Santa Fe and programs in Los Alamos use the same four plans and the same statewide rules.

Turquoise Care rehab in Las Cruces and the border

Las Cruces and Doña Ana County members choose among the same four Turquoise Care plans, and BCBSNM’s service area runs into bordering parts of Texas, Arizona and Colorado, so El Paso sits inside it for BCBSNM members. Las Cruces addiction treatment programs bill the member’s plan, or fee-for-service for Native American members who choose it.

Turquoise Care rehab in Farmington, Shiprock and Gallup

Native American members in San Juan and McKinley counties may join a Turquoise Care plan or stay in fee-for-service, unless they are dually eligible for Medicare or need nursing facility care. Plan members can use Indian Health Service, tribal and urban Indian providers without prior authorization, and Presbyterian runs a Navajo line at 1-888-806-8793 for Shiprock area programs.

Turquoise Care rehab in Roswell, Clovis and Hobbs

Eastern plains members in Chaves, Curry and Lea counties can apply for Medicaid at yes.nm.gov, by phone at 1-855-637-6574, or in person at an Income Support Division office on weekdays from 8:00am to 4:30pm. Once enrolled, they choose a plan; Roswell treatment options accept the same four Turquoise Care cards as the rest of New Mexico.

Can I use Turquoise Care for rehab outside New Mexico?

Only with prior authorization, outside an emergency. Out-of-state adult residential treatment must be authorized before placement, and BCBSNM does not pay out-of-network services without prior authorization except emergency care, urgent care centers, family planning and Native American providers. A member can switch plans during the first three months of enrollment, then waits for the next 12-month period.

How much does rehab cost with Turquoise Care?

Usually nothing. Copayments for Centennial Care members were removed on February 7, 2020, and Presbyterian’s Turquoise Care benefit guide lists no copays. Adults qualify up to 138 percent of the federal poverty level. The Health Care Authority lists cost sharing for some adults among coming federal changes but gives no amount or date for it.

Turquoise Care is one of several ways treatment gets paid for in New Mexico. From January 1, 2027 some adults ages 19 to 64 must report 80 hours a month of work or activity, but people in a drug or alcohol treatment program are exempt. State-funded rehab programs and sliding scale rehabs appear in the listings too.
