Top River Arts District Drug and Alcohol Addiction Centers

The River Arts District occupies former industrial buildings along the French Broad River west of downtown. Tanneries and warehouses became studios from the 1980s, and the 2024 flooding hit this stretch hardest. Programs listed here serve River Arts District and the wider Asheville area. We work to verify listings against SAMHSA data, North Carolina facility licensing and any Joint Commission or CARF accreditation on file. Accreditation status can change, so confirm it with the provider. Start with the River Arts District listings below.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Drug and Alcohol Rehabs in River Arts District, Asheville, NC

The River Arts District occupies the old industrial buildings along the French Broad west of downtown Asheville, where tanneries, a cotton mill and warehouses lined the river and the rail spur that served them.

Artists began taking studio space in the emptied buildings from the 1980s, cheaply at first, and by the 2010s the district held over two hundred working studios across a mile of riverfront.

In September 2024 Hurricane Helene put the French Broad over the district. Water reached the second storey in places, and studios, stock and equipment were destroyed across almost the entire riverfront.
