Treatment Centers in Washington That Accept Molina Healthcare

Molina Healthcare of Washington covers drug and alcohol rehab for Apple Health members in all 39 counties, from withdrawal management and three kinds of residential care to intensive outpatient treatment and opioid treatment programs. Behavioral health is managed inside the plan, and its Behavioral Health Services Only plan extends the same treatment to people whose medical coverage is elsewhere.

Facility details come from government treatment registers together with licensing records kept by the Washington State Department of Health, and Joint Commission or CARF accreditation is noted for programs that have it. Vancouver, Spokane, Seattle, Tacoma and Yakima are covered alongside smaller towns on the Columbia, and level-of-care filters separate detox, residential and outpatient programs.

Does Molina Healthcare Cover Rehab in Washington?

Yes. Molina Healthcare of Washington covers substance use disorder treatment for Apple Health members: evaluation, individual, group and family treatment, peer support, case management, intensive outpatient programs, withdrawal management, opioid treatment program services and three kinds of residential care. Molina Healthcare rehab coverage runs in every county.

Molina Healthcare of Washington is one of five Apple Health plans contracted by the Washington State Health Care Authority, working in all ten regions under a contract renewed through December 31, 2026. Molina manages mental health and substance use care itself, and its parent, Molina Healthcare, Inc., is based in Long Beach, California.

Which Molina plans cover rehab in Washington?

Apple Health integrated managed care covers most Molina members, and the Behavioral Health Services Only plan gives Apple Health fee-for-service members outpatient and inpatient behavioral health care, often because Medicare or other insurance pays for their physical health. Molina is also one of four plans offering Apple Health Expansion, and it sells Washington marketplace plans for 2026.

Does Molina Healthcare Cover Inpatient Rehab in Washington?

Yes. Molina covers intensive residential, long-term residential and recovery house residential treatment for Apple Health members, so long-term rehab taking Medicaid and short-term rehab with Medicaid both fit the benefit. Acute psychiatric admissions to community hospitals and Evaluation and Treatment facilities are covered on the mental health side.

How long will Molina pay for residential rehab?

Molina pays for residential care as long as medical necessity supports it, and Washington law sets the floor: since January 1, 2025 the opening authorization for an Apple Health residential stay must run 14 days or more, and every renewal a week or more. Molina’s 2020 guide used initial periods of 7 to 30 days by ASAM level.

Does Molina need prior authorization for inpatient rehab?

No, not to be admitted to residential care at a licensed behavioral health agency. RCW 71.24.618 has barred Apple Health plans from requiring it since January 1, 2021, replacing the authorization step in Molina’s 2020 guide. The program notifies Molina within 24 hours, Molina covers at least two business days before review, and providers reach Molina at (855) 322-4082.

Does Molina Healthcare Cover Detox in Washington?

Yes. Withdrawal management is a listed Molina Apple Health benefit, and state law gives Molina members three detox days, with no prior authorization at a licensed agency, before Molina may start utilization review. Molina’s 2020 guide placed medical detox for Medicaid members at ASAM 3.2 and 3.7, with emergent admissions notified within 24 hours.

Does Molina Healthcare Cover Outpatient Rehab in Washington?

Yes. Molina covers outpatient individual, group and family treatment and intensive outpatient programs on Medicaid, and its 2020 Washington guide required no prior authorization for intensive outpatient or outpatient care in network. The same guide put partial hospitalization under prior authorization, with first approvals of 5 to 10 days, and required it from non-network providers.

Molina’s Apple Health benefit adds peer support and case management to outpatient care, and the mental health side covers Wraparound with Intensive Services for young people and PACT team care. Members with health questions at night can call Molina’s 24-hour Nurse Advice Line at (833) 657-1982.

Does Molina Healthcare Cover Suboxone, Methadone and Other Addiction Medications?

Yes. Molina covers opioid treatment program services with medications, therapy or both, and drugs follow the Washington Apple Health Preferred Drug List, where some need prior approval or carry quantity, age or step-therapy limits. CVS Caremark runs Molina’s Washington pharmacy benefit, and pharmacy questions go to (800) 869-7165, weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Does Molina cover methadone?

Yes. Molina covers opioid treatment program services, which is where methadone clinic treatment is given, since Apple Health pays for methadone only through those programs. Molina’s 2020 Washington guide required no prior authorization for opioid treatment programs in network, while a program outside Molina’s network needed it.

Does Molina cover Suboxone?

Yes. Molina’s 2020 Washington guide said medication-assisted treatment needed no prior authorization in network, with one exception: buprenorphine on its own, without naloxone, needed approval first. Combination products such as Suboxone and buprenorphine on Medicaid follow the Apple Health Preferred Drug List and its dose limits.

Molina Healthcare Rehab Centers in the Columbia River Gorge and Around Lake Roosevelt

Molina’s Apple Health benefits are the same along the Columbia River Gorge as on the shores of Lake Roosevelt, because Molina sells in all 39 counties. What differs between these two stretches of the Columbia is the regional crisis organization and, in the Gorge, a Molina history that goes back to Clark County’s own Medicaid plan.

Molina rehab in the Columbia River Gorge

The Columbia River Gorge runs along Clark and Skamania counties, which moved Apple Health members into integrated physical and behavioral health managed care in April 2016, with Molina one of the two plans offered. Carelon answers Southwest crisis calls at 1-800-626-8137 across Clark County, including Ridgefield’s programs in Ridgefield and other rehabs near rivers.

Molina rehab near Lake Roosevelt and Grand Coulee

Lake Roosevelt stretches behind Grand Coulee Dam through Ferry, Stevens and Lincoln counties in the Spokane region, while the dam itself sits on the Grant and Okanogan county line in North Central. Molina serves both regions, whose crisis lines are 1-877-266-1818 and 1-800-852-2923, and the same Molina plan covers members using treatment in Grand Coulee or other rehabs near lakes.

How Do I Find a Rehab That Accepts Molina Healthcare in Washington?

Browse the listings on this page. Molina Apple Health is taken at every program shown, and filters can narrow the results by town, care level or substance. Calling a listing connects to that program, and Medicaid-accepting rehab centers in other states are collected on a national page.

Admission to detox or residential care runs through the program: it admits the Molina member and notifies Molina within 24 hours, and Molina reviews only after the protected days. Molina member services is (800) 869-7165, TTY 711, for plan and network questions, while 988 answers calls and texts from anyone in crisis.

Clark County is where Molina’s Washington Medicaid base grew: on November 12, 2015 Molina agreed to take over the Medicaid business of Columbia United Providers, a Clark County plan founded in 1994. Molina also holds a delegated Apple Health subcontract with Kaiser Permanente care here, covering Molina members who use Kaiser care in the county, home to Vancouver treatment centers.

Molina rehab in Spokane

Spokane is one of four Washington regions without UnitedHealthcare, so Molina is among four Apple Health plans for Spokane County members. Kaiser Permanente also sees Apple Health clients in Spokane through Molina on a fee-for-service basis, and the Spokane regional crisis line is 1-877-266-1818 for rehab programs in Spokane and South Hill Spokane treatment.

Molina rehab in Seattle and King County

King County Molina members can be seen by Kaiser Permanente, which serves Apple Health clients through Molina on a fee-for-service basis in Puget Sound counties. Molina’s Behavioral Health Services Only plan also serves King County residents whose physical health is covered elsewhere, including members using Seattle drug and alcohol rehabs or SoDo treatment programs.

Molina rehab in Tacoma and Pierce County

Pierce County Molina members follow the same no-prior-authorization rule for detox and residential care as members statewide, and Carelon Behavioral Health runs the county’s crisis services at 1-800-576-7764. Kaiser Permanente care through Molina reaches Pierce County too, alongside Tacoma rehab options and programs in Puyallup.

Molina rehab in Yakima

Yakima County sits in the Greater Columbia region, where Molina is one of four Apple Health plans and the regional crisis line is 1-888-544-9986. Molina’s three residential types, intensive, long-term and recovery house, are covered there as anywhere, including for members using Yakima treatment centers or programs in Sunnyside.

Can I use Molina for rehab in a different county?

Yes, within Molina’s network, which covers all 39 Washington counties. Molina’s 2020 guide required prior authorization for outpatient, intensive outpatient and opioid treatment from providers outside the network, so care from a non-network provider starts with a request to Molina. Emergencies and crisis services need no authorization anywhere in the state.

How much does rehab cost with Molina Healthcare?

Nothing for most Apple Health members: according to the Health Care Authority, most Apple Health programs leave members with nothing to pay, and Molina’s covered substance use services fall under that rule. Medicaid members can also get free rides to treatment through Apple Health’s transportation program, arranged through regional brokers rather than through Molina.

Molina’s Apple Health contract runs to the end of 2026, and the state’s next procurement is expected no earlier than late 2026 for plans starting January 1, 2028. Molina also sells Medicare plans in Washington, but its standalone Medicare Advantage plans end after 2026, with only its dual special needs plans continuing.
