Court Ordered Rehab Centers in Wyoming

A Wyoming court can make treatment part of a sentence, a probation plan, a DUI case or a treatment court program, and each route carries its own requirements. The listings below show programs across the state that report serving court-ordered clients, with filters for level of care, payment and language.

Wyoming’s court-ordered programs are mostly rural: seven in ten sit outside towns, at a median elevation of 5,550 feet. Listing details draw on government treatment registers, state licensing records, accreditor listings and what providers tell us themselves. The terms of any order come from the judge, not from RehabSeekers.com.

Common questions about Court Ordered Rehab

Answered from what is listed here.

Where are court ordered rehabs in Wyoming?

Wyoming's court ordered rehab listings cluster in Cheyenne, Gillette, Sheridan, Casper and Laramie. Cheyenne, Casper and Gillette are also among the state's larger cities, and a person sentenced there can start by comparing nearby programs, though the court or probation officer decides which ones meet the order.

Rehab Centers in Cheyennehttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/wyoming/cheyenne/
Can I use Wyoming Medicaid for court ordered rehab?

Wyoming Medicaid is recorded as accepted by nearly all of the court ordered rehab programs in Wyoming, so an eligible member can use that coverage for required treatment. Whether a stay is covered depends on the level of care and on the program confirming eligibility.

Full-scope managed care plans are not used. The one managed care program is the Care Management Entity, run by Magellan Healthcare, Inc. for youth with complex behavioral health conditions.

Which court ordered rehab programs in Wyoming are near mountains?

Deer Creek Breaks, Twin Mountains and the Deer Creek Range are the most-named mountain features near court ordered rehab programs in Wyoming. Most of the court ordered rehab programs in Wyoming lie within 25 miles of one, with a median of about 12.3 miles from listed facilities to the nearest.

How does a court order someone into treatment in Wyoming?

In Wyoming, a treatment order usually comes out of a criminal case. That can be a sentence, a probation or pretrial condition, a DUI conviction, or entry into a court supervised treatment program.

Wyoming’s treatment courts operate under the Court Supervised Treatment Programs Act (W.S. 5-12-101 et seq.). Oversight moved from the Department of Health to the Wyoming Supreme Court on July 1, 2024. Every program must follow the Wyoming Treatment Court Standards in the Rules Governing Court Supervised Treatment Programs. The dockets that run locally, such as adult drug, DUI, veterans or family, vary by county. The court clerk or a defense attorney can say which ones apply.

DUI cases follow a separate track in Wyoming. The court decides whether a person needs DUI education, treatment or both. That work comes from providers certified by the Behavioral Health Division of the Wyoming Department of Health. Under W.S. 7-13-1302, a substance use disorder assessment is mandatory after a felony DUI or a third misdemeanor DUI. Programs offering this work appear under DUI and DWI programs in Wyoming.

Civil commitment is a different question from a criminal order. Wyoming’s involuntary hospitalization law defines mental illness to exclude addiction to drugs or alcohol and intoxication (W.S. 25-10-101(a)(ix)). Families cannot use that law to commit someone for substance use alone.

Will a Wyoming court accept any licensed treatment program?

Not automatically. The judge, the treatment court team or the supervising officer decides which programs satisfy an order, so get that answer before admission.

Wyoming certifies substance use treatment providers through the Behavioral Health Division’s Provider Certification Program. State-funded Behavioral Health Centers must be both state certified and nationally accredited. Ask the admissions team for its current certification and accreditation, then share those details with the attorney or officer. Listings describe what providers report about accreditation, languages and populations served, including Spanish-speaking programs in Wyoming. RehabSeekers.com cannot say whether a court will accept a given program.

Reports to the court

Attendance and progress reports require the client’s written consent. Federal confidentiality rules for substance use treatment records (42 CFR Part 2) govern what a program can share. A program generally shares information with a judge, probation officer or treatment court team only after the client signs a form naming the recipient and what may be disclosed. Ask intake staff how often reports go out and who sends them.

What levels of care can a Wyoming court require?

A Wyoming order typically calls for an assessment first, then a level of care and sometimes a minimum length. The assessment guides which level fits.

Level of careWhat it usually involves
DetoxSupervised withdrawal over several days. Withdrawal from alcohol, benzodiazepines or opioids can be medically serious.
ResidentialLiving on site with structured treatment each day
Partial hospitalization (PHP)Treatment most of the day, home at night
Intensive outpatient (IOP)Several sessions a week around work or family
OutpatientRegular sessions, often as a step down from more intensive care

Listings for each level are on separate pages: detox in Wyoming, residential rehab in Wyoming, intensive outpatient in Wyoming and outpatient rehab in Wyoming.

Medication for opioid use disorder is worth raising early. The state sources behind this page do not set out a Wyoming treatment court rule on buprenorphine, methadone or naltrexone. Ask the court coordinator or attorney before starting or stopping a prescription. Prescribers are listed under Suboxone clinics in Wyoming.

Distance can decide which level is practical in Wyoming. Six in ten court-ordered programs sit within 25 miles of a river, a median of 9.7 miles away. The median trip to the nearest airport is 10.3 miles. Daily outpatient visits from a small town can be hard, so ask whether the order allows residential care instead.

How do you pay for court-ordered treatment in Wyoming?

Court-ordered care is paid for like other treatment: through Medicaid, private insurance, state funding, sliding scale fees or self-pay. Who pays depends on the order and the person’s circumstances.

Wyoming Medicaid is run by the Department of Health’s Healthcare Financing Division. State reports from 2022 and 2023 describe Wyoming as not having expanded adult eligibility, so many working-age adults may not qualify. Programs that accept Medicaid are on the Medicaid rehab listings.

The Behavioral Health Division funds Behavioral Health Centers, which give pregnant women preference for admission. For lower-cost options, see state-funded rehab in Wyoming and sliding scale rehab in Wyoming. Ask a center whether it holds publicly funded slots for people on supervision.

What happens if you miss sessions on a Wyoming treatment order?

The judge decides what follows a missed session. The response varies with the case, the court and the terms of the order.

Treatment courts work within the Wyoming Treatment Court Standards, while probation and DUI orders carry their own conditions. If a schedule stops working, tell the program and the attorney or supervising officer early. The sources for this page list no separate state substance use helpline. The Department of Health points people to 988, by call or text, and the national treatment referral line can also suggest services.

Wider background on court-ordered care is on the national court-ordered rehab page. Every Wyoming listing is on the Wyoming locations page.
