Residential Rehab

Residential Rehab Centers

Residential rehab means living at the facility while you receive treatment. Staff are on site around the clock, days follow a set structure of individual therapy, group work and medical review, and everything outside treatment is stripped back for the duration. It suits people who need distance.

Length, cost and clinical focus vary widely across the programs listed here. Some run a few weeks, others several months, and admission may depend on a bed being free that day. Ask about accreditation, what aftercare follows discharge, and how payment is handled before committing.

Why Trust RehabSeekers.com?

RehabSeekers is an independent behavioral health directory covering drug and alcohol addiction and mental health treatment providers.

Every listing has a source: an official register, a licensing record, or details the facility sent us.

Credentials shown honestly. Accreditation, licensing and registration listed separately.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Contact details always go direct. Calls reach the facility itself, never a call centre.

Common questions

Answered from what is listed here.

What is residential rehab?

Residential rehab is substance use treatment where you live at the program itself, in a setting staffed around the clock. SAMHSA says this kind of care usually lasts a few weeks to a few months. NIAAA, using ASAM definitions, describes it as low or high intensity treatment in 24-hour settings.

Days are built around individual and group therapy, medical review and structured activity, with medication management where it is needed.

Inpatient Rehabhttps://rehabseekers.com/programs/inpatient/
What is the difference between inpatient and residential rehab?

Inpatient care means staying overnight at a hospital or program for a few days or weeks, usually for someone needing 24-hour medical care, and SAMHSA notes it is normally connected to a hospital or clinic. Residential means living at the program for longer, and ASAM states residential care is less intensive than inpatient.

ASAM also notes most Level 3.7 medically monitored programs are residential, even though that level can be delivered in a hospital.

Hospital Rehabhttps://rehabseekers.com/type/hospital/
How long does residential rehab last?

Residential stays usually run a few weeks to a few months, according to SAMHSA, which also notes that more serious conditions can mean staying a year or more. VA residential rehabilitation typically runs around six weeks, with some stays a few weeks and others a few months, based on individual need.

NIDA guidance states research indicates at least three months in treatment is generally needed to significantly reduce or stop drug use.

Residential rehab is substance use treatment where a person lives at the program around the clock, with staff on site at all hours. federal health agencies describes it simply as treatment where you live at the treatment program, usually lasting a few weeks to a few months.

That full-time structure is the point. The daily schedule, the removal from the setting where use happened, and the presence of clinical staff at three in the morning are what separate this level from attending sessions and going home. ASAM places it at Level 3, which has four sublevels running from a group-home style setting to medically monitored care with 24-hour nursing.

This guide covers what residential rehab is, what a day inside looks like, how long a stay runs, what it costs and who pays, how medication and co-occurring conditions are handled, how residential differs from inpatient, and how to find a licensed program.
