As a professional in the field, I have worked closely with Center for Families for several years and I can not recommend them highly enough. The staff and leadership team provides exceptional care and treatment for… adolescents and their families. And all three locations are warm and inviting. In my opinion, they are one of the very best, bar none.

Amazing holistic treatment approach at Center for Families! They offer a wide range of treatment modalities tailored to the individual. I have referred clients to their program who have had success. Their therapists and… director are compassionate and caring. Highly recommend!

I will start with the positive. Overall, the program at CFF Malvern seemed to be organized and had very good aspects to it. Some of the staff seemed to be caring and experienced. Overall, dealing with this place was the… equivalent of dealing with an anxious, high strung helicopter mom. My dealings with one therapist were really uncomfortable and her actions were not appropriate. I never met this woman before and during a five minute phone conversation with her, she talked to me very condescendingly and made a comment that I need to be present with my child and monitor them. She had only met with my kid 1-2 xs at this point. When I questioned if she expected me to monitor them 24/ 7, because I have a job and that’s not feasible, she told me and repeated condescendingly that I should be present and my teen shouldn’t be left alone, but if I had to go to the grocery store that was okay. (LOL sounds realistic if you have a full-time job and are single parent, right?) If at this time, she thought my teen needed 24/7 care, then a nurse or a higher level of care should’ve been recommended. It was not at that time. I have a great relationship with my child. At this time they were at my hip constantly. I was making four 30 min trips a day during work hours to bring them to the program, spent every day trying to get them to eat and do things, every single weekend hanging with them, and lost so many hours of work. Meanwhile, other therapists were telling me I need to take more time for myself, that my child needs to do the work, that I can’t stop them from doing certain things and I can’t let it control my life. This person was giving me the opposite and very inappropriate advice. To act like this to a parent, who spends 100% of their time, dealing with a child’s mental health is cruel, unethical and absolutely disgusting. She should have been fired for her behavior. Shortly after, I received a call from family services. CFF reported me; one item was for having alcohol in the house and another for leaving my 2 teenagers unattended. Yes teenagers! When my home was inspected (same day), they saw that all the alcohol was locked up and I asked them about why it was an issue if I left my teenagers home alone for a couple hours or had alcohol as I am over 21. They told me it was not. The case was cleared, but this was so stressful. When I questioned CFF on what exactly about those two things was a concern to report it, I never got answers and conversations went in circles. When I mentioned to them that if they thought my child needed 24/7 monitoring, then they should have worked with me to get a nurse. They said nothing. I never left my kids for very long, but they are teenagers (17/15) and can babysit other children. On two separate occasions, I was bullied into taking my teen to the ER, on both occasions, the ER asked me why I was taking my child because there was really nothing they could do for her at that point. She had no intent on doing anything. On another occasion the same therapist told me that I should be sleeping in my teen’s room to monitor them. I don’t think that that was appropriate advice and neither do other therapists. If you already feel like your life revolves around your child’s mental illness, and you are mentally and physically exhausted, but would really like someone to talk down to you, and make you feel like you’re not doing enough, then I highly recommend you use CFF Malvern. There’s no need for me to email anybody, I already did that and got nothing. They really need to have more empathy for the parents, more training on dealing with parents, and more training on reporting. Other therapists told me that they would talk to the parent first before making such a report. The facility also seems to have very liberal views.Overall, my teen got worse there. Part of it was not being on the right medication, and the other part was the stress that they put our family through. My teen got better after going back to an IOP and finding doctors that were more aggressive with getting the meds right.

I'll be honest I'm a social work student and had to do an analysis of an agency for a class, I found this one randomly and their website is incredibly detailed with the programs they offer and help they provide. They… seem amazing and if I ever needed mental health or substance use for a teenager I would definitely use this place!
