Rehabs That Take Geisinger Health Plan

Geisinger Health Plan is part of Geisinger, an integrated system running hospitals and clinics across central and northeastern Pennsylvania. Addiction treatment is covered across withdrawal management, residential care, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient programs and standard outpatient therapy on its commercial, Medicare and Medicaid products. That distinction is worth establishing before anything else.

This is largely rural Pennsylvania, and distance is the binding constraint rather than coverage. State law also requires plans it regulates to cover a defined minimum of detoxification and rehabilitation, and limits how early utilization review may be applied. That distinction is worth establishing before anything else.

Why Trust RehabSeekers.com?

RehabSeekers is an independent behavioral health directory covering drug and alcohol addiction and mental health treatment providers.

Every listing has a source: an official register, a licensing record, or details the facility sent us.

Credentials shown honestly. Accreditation, licensing and registration listed separately.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Contact details always go direct. Calls reach the facility itself, never a call centre.

Common questions

Answered from what is listed here.

Does Geisinger Health Plan cover rehab?

Yes, substance use disorder treatment is a covered benefit on Geisinger Health Plan's employer, Marketplace, Geisinger Gold Medicare Advantage and CHIP products. Marketplace materials list substance use treatment as inpatient, intensive outpatient, outpatient, medication-assisted and telehealth care. What you pay, and which levels need authorization, depends on the plan line you hold.

GHP Family Medicaid members are the exception: their addiction treatment comes from the county behavioral health managed care organization rather than from Geisinger Health Plan itself.

Private Insurance Acceptedhttps://rehabseekers.com/insurance-accepted/private-insurance-accepted/
Does Geisinger Health Plan cover detox?

Yes, withdrawal management is a covered level of care. Geisinger's own addiction treatment center, Geisinger Marworth in Waverly, Pennsylvania, runs 24/7 detox and residential care for adults 18 and over at 800-442-7722. Inpatient detox admissions need prior authorization before the stay begins.

For GHP Family members, detoxification is arranged through the county behavioral health managed care organization printed on the behavioral health card, not through GHP Family.

Detox Centershttps://rehabseekers.com/programs/detox-centers/
Does Geisinger Health Plan cover inpatient rehab?

Yes, inpatient and residential treatment are recognized behavioral health benefits, and both sit on the plan's prior authorization list, so authorization must come first. On the 2026 federal employee Standard Plan (Code GG), inpatient mental health and substance use care is covered at 20% coinsurance with prior authorization.

Geisinger Gold HMO plans charge $150 to $225 a day for the first five or six inpatient mental health days in 2026, then $0 after that.

Does Geisinger Cover Rehab?

Yes, across every product it writes. The benefit runs from detox through residential care and the intensive outpatient levels to ordinary counseling, and it includes medication for opioid dependence.

What distinguishes Geisinger is that it is not only a payer. It runs the hospitals and clinics too, so for a member treated inside the system there is one record rather than a chain of referral letters between organizations that have never spoken.

What the State Requires

Pennsylvania sets a floor that plans it regulates must meet on detoxification and rehabilitation, and it limits how quickly an insurer may start second-guessing a licensed clinician’s judgement that treatment is needed. It also licenses the facilities themselves through a dedicated drug and alcohol department, which is a separate check from accreditation and worth making independently.

Rural Pennsylvania

This footprint covers a great deal of open country, small towns and former coal and manufacturing communities. Residential capacity is concentrated in a few places, and several counties have none within an hour.
