Amazing staff and care! I am very grateful for this facility! Thank you all for what you do :)
The staff helped me out a lot I went in a mess ready to give up on everything and came out feeling more confident than I ever had in my life i really am grateful for everyone who helped me through this journey and i… especially want to thank JD for believing in me and my potential I highly recommend if your are ever in need of help to go here the community is amazing
It was the right place and just what our family needed at this time for our child to get over the hump in a controlled and safe environment. Its a stressful situation to begin with but the staff was very forthcoming on… the process and explained everything very well. I think the biggest thing is to trust the facilty and support the person who is there. We knew our child needed help that we couldn't provide at home and they knew they needed help as well.
If you genuinely looking for help this the place I was on Wisteria an lgbtq unit which was my first Camille ( Harry potter)n Taylor (t swift)def was my emotional support all the way thru my social worker Alissa worked… with me explained everything and let me be apart of my treatment plan Kristen groups are amazing n very in depth Thomas smiles a lot but it’s needed when you been so down and out of it but he helps you n get shii done this the only hospital that’s ever actually worked with me to be better not against just to keep me there for money the community is amazing you put the work in you get so much out of this program
I was a patient here almost two years ago. Although it was a place I needed to be for treatment for mental health. Some of the staff were very messy and unprofessional. Some of the would talk about me behind my back (I… would hear them loud and clear) would even give weird looks. It was very weird and off putting and couldn’t wait to get out of there. I was told by a staff member that could reach after leaving the facility only to be to call back later every time I called. I just pray I’m never in the predicament to have to come here again!
I usually don't write reviews unless they are positive. I have put a great deal of thought into whether I would post this or not. My husband was a patient here the beginning of this year. He opened up, cooperated, and… got himself back into a good headspace. What we thought would be a few days turned into 8 because of his social worker Kym's extreme lack of communication. She knew we have 2 kids, who I was home alone with, and she provided zero support to his family at home. She was impossible to get ahold of. I'm the one who set up his outpatient therapy and psychiatrist appointments, which is her job. I had to reach out MANY times over multiple days to even set up a family meeting to plan his discharge, dropping everything to drive the hour to Philly. The only positive was the incredible nurse that always answered the phone and gave me updates when she was able. Other than her, this place made one of the hardest times of our life, even harder.
The admissions and business development team went above and beyond and were supportive. The clinical staff provide outstanding care with compassion and professionalism. Highly recommend for anyone seeking quality mental… health treatment.
I want to start off by saying my first 6 days at Malvern was the best time i’ve had in years. the connections i made with not only the other patients but the staff was incredible. HUGE SHOUTOUT starting with the techs… Brooklyn, Luciano, Linda, and Jeff. They are all amazing and tried everyday to make connections with each patient and it showed. They truly made a huge impact on my stay in the best way possible. Brooklyn especially is a sweetheart. she would sit and interact with all of us and joke around and get involved in our rumy games no matter how many times she lost. but i'm especially grateful for her. With that being said i have to turn it over to JD. JD is a literal godsend. i don’t think my experience would have been the same if it weren’t for her. right away her bright bubbly personality popped out and i knew we were gonna be a great fit. Honestly i fully believe she is the best person for her line of work. She made sure i was okay every-time we passed each other in the halls and every meeting. she took care of my leave papers and even informed my gf about everything that had to do with me. JD is truly an inspiration and i’m so grateful to have had her as my social worker during my stay. Unfortunately on my 7th day of my stay my journal had gone missing. The night before i had organized both journals i had on top of my folder they had given me. i went into full panic mode and straight into an anxiety attack. the nurses just kept saying to me that staff doesn’t take journals and that i must have lost it. i felt like i was being gaslit in the one place that was supposed to help me work through the that trauma. i even reached out to pat for help who is one of the therapists who actually helped me a lot with his sandbox technique. but he also kind of accused me of misplacing it which made me feel even more terrible. come to find out i was never even supposed to have this journal with me to begin with because it had metal spirals on the side. i was failed by malvern twice. they let me have something that was deemed dangerous by staff and their protocol and then they took it away without informing me and gaslit me into thinking that i was the one who lost/misplaced it. 20 minutes after i had lost it with the help of Jeff, it was found behind the nurses station. the same place they told me it wouldn’t be because they don’t touch journals. the only 2 people able to calm me down after that was Jeff and JD. JD came in and gave me a huge motivational speech and turned it into a learning moment for not only me but Malvern as a whole. I did receive an apology from the tech that retrieved my book without telling me and was told they had too many admissions that day and were too busy to come find me. this situation could have been prevented if they didn’t call people off everyday. there should be more than 2-3 techs at all times especially with 20+ patients living on the unit. other than this small hiccup my stay at Malvern was exceptional. I hope i never have to come back but if i do, i know ill be in great hands. So again i want to say thank you to JD, Brooklyn, Jeff, Linda, and Luciano for welcoming me with open arms and the sense of community that the patients themselves carry on from group to group.
Honestly, do not go to this place. There's so much misinformation being spread by staff of THE SAME PLACE. How can that even be? This place is a joke and definitely should be investigated. I wouldn't be surprised if… they were keeping people longer than need to be get more money from insurances. Then, they don't even update the website/documents, so I'm believing I can see my loved one every day, right? But nope, only once a week for 1 hour. That is horrible. Don't go here if you have a choice, please. Save yourself the headache.
My review is based solely on my interaction with the front desk staff. Walking in the main entrance and asking for assistance with a matter, I was greeted by a truly unprofessional attendant who was more interested in… twiddling her thumbs and gossiping with her colleagues than helping a visitor. Even when she did engage and attempt to listen to my request, it took multiple attempts to share the information and she appeared apathetic to the whole matter as if I was wrong for even asking. It’s almost as if I was interrupting her by asking for some assistance when it is her job to provide customer service. To make matters worse, while waiting for another party, all I could hear were the desk staff taking about politics and the present war. This is not the place for that. If you are just there for the paycheck and are shooting the breeze to pass the time but don’t like the job then this is not the place for you. Better to have one quality front desk worker than 3 miserable and unhelpful ones. To management- Please hire front desk staff that actually want to help, greet visitors respectfully, perhaps even with a smile (It definitely wouldn’t hurt!). The front desk is the first impression for many folks entering the building and failing to provide a quality image from the start is a huge disservice. It also makes me wonder what the rest of the place is like in terms of professional etiquette and treatment towards visitors and patients alike. People deserve better!
I would like to note that I received exemplary and compassionate care and treatment specifically from Cameron, Kerry, Shawn, Jelani, Shirly, Darryl, Anne-Marie, Ben, Kenisha and Kim. These employees should be celebrated… for caring for me well, to the best of their abilities, while I endured malicious treatment from the rest of the staff, most notably: Jill, Carmen, Erica, Grace, Latisha, Barnabus, Jacob, Missy, Greg, Em, Gladys, Val, Dr. Roni, the cleaning lady, in which I do not know her name, along with Brahim. There is very little that is actually therapuetic about this facility and amongst the staff. The staff was overwhelmingly unprofessional and antagonizing. I came in with trauma, and left with more trauma. This facility should be shut down. I had to file a grievance while I was under their "care."
First let me mention the reason for stay not suicidal nor for abuse of drugs (not a safety risk for harm). Negative experience related to Dr. Crawford who claims she offers compassion and 2nd chances from videos I… reviewed, but lacks big time in being empathetic and compassionate. She spoke in a matter a fact, such deeming way as we were hopeful to having an open dialogue in best treatment approach. She spoke over not hearing our words or the concern at hand with in turn, harsh words used by her with very strong tone that it will be what she says and that is it. She let us know that the power lies with her and we have no voice, no chance, in having open dialogue. Dr. Crawford was not good with her listening skills which is vital in mental health. A willingly person signed a 201 for help to be shut down, talked over and threatened if 72 quit notice not revoked that 302 would be petitioned. She stated her power to influence a judge it was not compassion offered. JD social worker phenomenal best part of the experience. She offered excellent communication (listening/providing constructive feedback). She definitely made the experience less stressful for someone who has anxiety/depression . Her ability to openly communicate helped to calm/relax a stressful situation. We have the upmost respect for you not because of a title that you hold or power you can expel. Thank you for having the capability to effectively communicate- we were not forced to receive the information provided when talking with you. As a medical professional, you demonstrated the key importance to maintaining safe well health to someone who is already medically stable which was in the delivery of having the correct bedside manners/empathy. Thank you for being understanding/reachable and for not being aggressively forceful or overpowering like we had experienced with Dr. Crawford (luckily the Dr. was able to be changed in which that Dr. was able to offer healthy open communication without using the power threat due to a title earned, which greatly lessened anxiety and the needs were then appropriately addressed for safe healthy return home).
My stay at Malvern was exceptionally phenomenal. It was clean, orderly, and my peers as well as the staff were incredibly friendly, supportive, and encouraging. It has saved my life and I have found a newfound… confidence. If I ever found myself at another low and needed to consider inpatient again, I’d like to make the return and I’d highly recommend this place to anyone that needed help. Thank you.
I went because I hadn’t slept for a few days and eventually psychosis took over. I was very confused at first as to where I was and what was going on when I woke up. The staff made the stay a lot better for me, however;… my social worker was not very friendly and didn’t want to see me get better. It almost felt like she had something against me the whole time. Other than that, the stay helped me a lot and helped me get better. Food was tolerable, beds were beds, and patients were patients. Thank you to the malvern staff!
It def wasn't we were doing wrong but I love u keep
The staff at Malvern were all very welcoming and provided me with a good experience in their inpatient program. I was extremely nervous and hesitant to voluntarily enter the program but once there I was slowly able to… feel safe and welcome enough to open up and enjoy my time there. I would definitely recommend Malvern's inpatient program to anyone who may be going through a hard time.
Amazing facility. Shout out to literally all of the staff for being amazing. I recommend this place over just about anywhere else if you are a young adult (can't speak for the general adult ward). The food was mid but… the treatment was great.
As I know the most beneficial and the best services Health care center
SAVED MY LIFE.. LITERALLY
Good jawn
I know I posted a review before and was annoyed at the response I had gotten. However for me the bottom line is I laid there suffering and vomiting for a very long time before being sent to the ER where I was admitted… for 6 or 7 days..I was told I had to wait for Malverns transport however the condition I was in warranted an ambulance thank God for my amazing roommates who helped me during this time... A few techs maybe a nurse came in but truly my 2 roommates were a God send.
I highly recommend Malvern behavioral hospital to absolutely anyone who needs the support. The staff were exemplary; showed unconditional compassion, love, empathy and support. Please try to understand that these… individuals are regularly exposed to traumatic experiences, and yet, everyday they show up to work feeling motivated to help others. I might also mention the patience and understanding the entire staff possesses far exceeds my own levels of patience and made an impression on me. Thank you Malvern for helping me iron out my medication regimen and for keeping me safe and as comfortable as possible!
Everyone here is mostly pleasant. I felt safe and cared for, both physically and emotionally. Food is really good too. The pics were doctored up, you don’t get that much bedding for obvious reasons. Overall, I enjoyed… my stay. Also Wendy the cleaner does an amazing job she deserves a raise, the unit is practically spotless. I also loved all the RN’s especially Karla. Social work is great too, tbh I could go on forever about this place.
Admissions counselor Taylor C. Was EXTREMELY helpful, kind, caring and patient last night when one of my patients was in crisis. She was great at communicating and made a challenging situation much easier to manage!
My son was there for a crisis and it is truly one of the best facilities he has been to. I am giving this place less than 5 stars because of the support staff. Some of the techs are not the best when it comes to being… personable. Anthony the technician was very rude when I had a drop off for my son he made me wait over 45 minutes at the front desk and I was late to work. Nurse Missy was always nice on the phone and answered my questions when I was unsure about my son's plan of care. Nurse Josh was so sweet and very knowledgeable about mental health care and overall health needs he made my son understand the importance of compliance because this is something he struggles with and it results in him getting admitted again. Now my son is managing his medication very well. I couldn't thank Joshua and the Malvern clinical team enough for this it strengthened my son's outlook on life.
Malvern has really helped me grow as a person! Between my social worker (JD who is amazing) and all the techs I never felt alone. They are some of the most inspiring and supportive people I have met. There isn’t… anything they don’t/ wouldn’t do to help and encourage me on my journey. Thank you all for everything you’ve done for me.
I was really struggling and my friend took me to the HUP CRC. I was reassure by my friend who is also trans and been inpatient before that I would be safe from harming myself but admitted that inpatient experiences… could be tricky as a nonbinary person. I was told they found a spot at Malvern Wasteria and I was transferred there. I was greeted with warmth, affirmation and support. I am so grateful this unit specifically exists and wish more institutions had this. I am so grateful for the support from the care team, the techs, nurses who were caring and knowledgeable.
