Rehabs That Take Molina Healthcare

Molina Healthcare built its business on Medicaid managed care and serves a membership that is largely low income, with marketplace and Medicare Advantage plans alongside. Addiction treatment is covered across withdrawal management, residential care, intensive outpatient and outpatient therapy, generally with minimal cost sharing on Medicaid plans.

Because Molina contracts state by state, benefits follow each state’s Medicaid program rather than a national standard. Tell a facility which state and which Molina product you hold, since a program contracted with Molina in one state may have no relationship with the plan in another.

Why Trust RehabSeekers.com?

RehabSeekers is an independent behavioral health directory covering drug and alcohol addiction and mental health treatment providers.

Every listing has a source: an official register, a licensing record, or details the facility sent us.

Credentials shown honestly. Accreditation, licensing and registration listed separately.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Contact details always go direct. Calls reach the facility itself, never a call centre.

Common questions

Answered from what is listed here.

Does Molina cover rehab?

Yes. Molina covers substance use treatment across its Medicaid, Medicare and Marketplace plans, from withdrawal management through residential care, intensive outpatient and outpatient counseling. Because Molina contracts state by state, the exact benefit follows your state's Medicaid program or your plan documents rather than one national rule.

Washington Apple Health, for example, covers evaluation, individual and group treatment, IOP, withdrawal management, opioid treatment program services and three types of residential care.

Inpatient Rehabhttps://rehabseekers.com/programs/inpatient/
Does Molina cover detox?

Yes. Withdrawal management is a covered benefit. Washington Apple Health lists detoxification among its substance use services, Molina's Medicare behavioral health authorization form includes inpatient detoxification, and the 2026 Texas Silver 3 Marketplace plan covers detox once Molina preauthorizes it.

Planned withdrawal management in Washington needs prior authorization, while an emergency admission needs only notification within 24 hours, with an initial authorization of three to five days.

Medical Detoxhttps://rehabseekers.com/programs/detox-centers/medical-detox/
Does Molina cover residential rehab?

Yes, with prior authorization. Washington Apple Health covers intensive residential, long-term residential and recovery house substance use treatment, and the 2026 Medicaid authorization guides for California, Illinois and Mississippi each list residential treatment as a service a provider can request on your behalf.

On the 2026 Texas Silver 3 Marketplace plan, inpatient mental health and substance use care is 50 percent coinsurance once Molina preauthorizes the stay.

Does Molina Cover Drug and Alcohol Rehab?

Yes. Molina covers substance use disorder treatment across the continuum, and on Medicaid plans it does so with little or no cost to the member. Coverage includes assessment, medically supervised withdrawal, residential treatment where the state benefit provides it, intensive outpatient, outpatient counseling and medication for opioid use disorder.

Molina is a Medicaid-first company. It began serving low-income patients in California and grew into one of the larger Medicaid managed care organizations nationally, adding marketplace and Medicare Advantage plans later. That heritage shapes the experience: strong on the services Medicaid populations need, less oriented toward the choice-driven model commercial members expect.

State by State, Not Nationally

Medicaid benefits are set by each state and administered by Molina under contract. What is covered, how residential treatment is authorized, and whether the county rather than the plan manages specialty addiction services all vary. In California, for instance, Molina Medi-Cal members generally reach residential treatment through their county behavioral health system rather than through Molina.

Coverage by Level of Care

Withdrawal Management

Covered where dependence is physical. Alcohol and benzodiazepine withdrawal carry seizure risk, and emergency care is covered regardless of authorization or network status.
