Salvation Army – Pittsburgh Detox and Rehab Services

Salvation Army – Pittsburgh is recorded as offering residential treatment. Which of these is appropriate depends on an assessment, not on what sounds manageable at the time.

The listing records a single focus rather than combined treatment, so anyone needing both should confirm what is available. Approved medication is paired with counseling and regular review. It is worth asking how many hours a week the program runs, because that decides whether it fits around everything else.

This is by far one of the worst programs you could go to it's the bottom of the barrel they don't care about you or anything for that matter except the money.

I normally do not partake in surveys or take the time to acknowledge greatness when coming in contact with it. 5 months ago I was told I "HAD" to come here...yay another forced try at recovery nudged by the judge...I… came to Harbor Light with a nasty attitude bc I hated myself and the decisions I had been making that paved my path to this facilities front door. I entered kicking and screaming and blaming everyone but myself for being there...then I met Nikki U. She worked the front desk and handled the day in and day out logistics and she did more for me than she will ever realize or care to take credit for...then Cassie, Gerald, Mark, Deb, James, Chris, and Kris, and Paul, and Miranda and on and on. The staff is phenomenal...the resources they line you up with has given me the best possible chance at sobriety and I will forever be grateful to Harbor Light and the staff as a whole bc this place is filled with the sunlight of the spirit and I feel it each and every single day! All praises to God and his soldiers who show up for battle everyday strapped with smiles and love! Xoxo❤️ Gerald Corrigan SOB DATE: 4/6/25

I had a wonderful experience there. The staff was very forgiving and never gave up on me. And now I am doing better than I ever have. I would recommend Harbor Light to any addicts in need of help.

The director doesn't really run the program. The nasty, miserable women that are supposed to work under her do. I spent 1 month there and it didn't take long to realize that most of the techs don't belong in their… position but more realistically should be in the program themselves. It's rare to come by a less moral group of people. The staff couldn't care less about helping someone. They're about earning a paycheck and it couldn't be more obvious. If you absolutely have to enter the program here are the employees that you should stay away from: Nikki, Deb and little man Nick. They're power tripping and will mistreat you any chance they get. Mark will help you if you want help And Chrissy will do her best to make your stay easier but honestly you're better off trying to find another program if you want to stop using.

Food is horrible. They feed peanut butter and jelly to grown men, half cooked chicken. Hot breakfast is only once a week, if that. Staffing is sub par. The therapists only meet with the guys once a month. Even if they… have something urgent they need to discuss regarding their sobriety, there’s no sense of urgency to help. The staff don’t really care for the needs of the individuals. If there’s an issue they just threaten to discharge the individual instead of finding a solution. Working. The individuals can’t work for 90 days and even when they reach that time there’s stipulations to what, where and when they can work. Overall this program is about the money and not at all about helping the individual who is seeking sobriety. I would find a different program. Not to mention that guys are still getting high INSIDE the building and staff is aware. Update: after I wrote this review I was banned from seeing my boyfriend for 2 weeks. I contacted Salvation Army to report this particular program and nothing was done. The director reached out but to only try to convince me to remove my review and to tell me I was no longer welcome at Harbor light. She also told me my review could kill someone but I believe it will only save someone, as this place is a threat to one’s sobriety. My boyfriend finished the program but only because his HSAO, peer support and himself worked diligently together to prepare for discharge.

At first my uncle says he was comfortable there and they didn't treat him like at other places he's been. Three months in they were putting him out. We got conflicting reasons but he said he wasn't ready to leave but… they sent him home anyway to fail.

As a rehab it is terrible. It was boring. Non stop groups. No leaving on your own. No working. No phone. No payphone to use. If you want rehab goes somewhere else. If you're desperate and need a place to stay bad. Then… this is an option. Stay the night or several nights I don't believe they'll turn someone down unless they have no beds.

This place is a money grabbing establishment that has done nothing more but lie and deceive their clients. This place does not stand for what it does. It would rather get your insurance pay then kick you out right… after. The staff lie to you for their own benefit. And for a place that claims to give 3 meals, they do not provide a hot breakfast, and they claim oatmeal is. And the company making the food is an even bigger joke. Seriously fuxk this place.
