Westside Family Healthcare – Dover

I go to a walk in to have a physical. They said my BP was very high. I need to go to my pcp or the hospital. I explained that to the male receptionist. He told me the Dr. Doesn't have a time slot to do a physical. I… told him again I just had a physical and need to have a emergency visit. He advised me to go to a walk in clinic. I said I'm g going to tell you one more time, I just came from a walk in clinic and that this is my primary Dr. He proceeded to tell me that th there are no appointments with Dr this week. I said you mean to t tell me there are no apps. In this place till next week. Then he said wait a minute you can come tomorrow at 8 or fri at 230. I said OK. The message time said 215 and I said OK. Got there a little late and they wouldn't see me but wanted to take my BP. What is that going to do and I already know it's high. So I guess I ll be walking around with BP 179/114 till I find a Dr's office that really cares about my people.

I have been with them for several years and have always received excellent service. These people actually care about the health and well-being of their patients. I have never had an issue with medical gas lighting. And… as a woman with fibromyalgia that is rare. If you're tired of being treated like a payday and want to be treated like a person and a patient, I recommend this practice.

If I could give 0 stars I would they wouldnt even take me I need emergency care if your not a patient with them you cant be seen even though they were recommended by ER Staff for emergency dental

If there was a rating lower than 1 star this company would get it. From the clerical staff, to the supervisor I've received horrible service. Phone calls disconnected, nasty attitudes and when I finally spoke to someone… they had no appointments. Very annoying and frustrating experience.

Super rude on the phone. They kept calling me asking for someone else. I would tell them they had the wrong number. Instead of apologizing they hung up and call right back. I would say still the wrong number and they… would respond with “oh my god” and hang up. Strange group there at Westside. If you’re looking for primary care, I’d look else where.

Westside Family Care Dental is the worse Dental Care Practice I Have Ever Experienced In My life and the Offices even the Primary Care Side are a joke period of making appointments.

Yesterday, March 3, 2026 I took my son to Westside Dover after waiting over a month to be seen in office by a Doctor I had two video appointments prior to yesterday. While in office the doctors ordered for my… 13-year-old son to have HIV test done plus several other tests. She did not even have the decency to take my son out of the room to ask me if I wanted to have these tests done. My 13-year-old is not sexually active and this doctor told me that he could get HIV just like you could get the flu or any other Virus. Now I have a 13 year-old terrified that he has HIV at 13 years old. I didn’t want the test done and they pushed it on me telling me that if it was their child they would do it. MY BEST ADVICE IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CHILDREN, DO NOT TAKE THEM TO WESTSIDE HEALTHCARE. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR CHILDREN’S WELL-BEING, PHYSICAL OR MENTAL. THEY MADE THAT VERY CLEAR YESTERDAY.

Why in Heavens name would you have a call center handling patient cals??!!!. Not only did I have to call back "later" because the system was down and apparently they can't write down a message - when I did call back, it… was clear the poor gal could not understand my request. I was on the line with her twenty minutes - and explained repeatedly that I did not need a call back. They just needed to call in the correct Rx, so I could get it today, as I'm going OOT. (The wrong one was called in yesterday). She still ended the call with "I'll have the nurse call you back" Really??!!

Well assisting my clients into building wheelchair had difficulty entering the building, not wheelchair accessible for a doctor's office.

Honestly I can't wait until I find another primary care doctor. If you want anything done you have to call multiple times and it's still not guaranteed. Their response time takes days. The dentistry office will cancel… and cancel and cancel appointments the day of.

Had a virtual call with Dr. Melvin on Wednesday March 5, 2025. I like virtual calls bc it saves a lot of time. One experience that I did no like was her not having her video on. I felt like there was no connection… between myself and the health provider. I was calling for my script refill that I NEED. Dr.Melvin never called in my script. So I’m out here raw dogging LIFE. Needless to say I will be finding another health care provider. Bc she is not it.

Where do I begin first off I had an appointment but they called and canceled because of the snow and they said somebody would call to reschedule they never did. I called constantly and couldn't get through because the… calls are not sent directly to the office you have to go through someone else and they call for you and try to get a hold of someone at the office, so instead I went to the office after I got off from work, it said they did not close till 5:00 I was there at 4:00 the guy who's the phlebotomist there told me somebody would be with me in a minute I waited for like 15 minutes no one showed up to the window he called a girl who's usually the receptionist and she said oh no we're gone for the day now I think my tooth has an abscess on it. So now I think it's time for me to find a family dentist and don't bother with going to Westside. Don't get me wrong the staff are very helpful and friendly but they have to come up with a better way for clients to call and make an appointment. Update: I finally was able to make an appointment but I had to go into the office. Was supposed to go next week but I get a phone call yesterday they're going to have to cancel my appointment because the dentist will not be there, mind you my tooth is giving me problems now so before she could even finish I hung up on her and called another dentist they were able to fit me in next week I am done with west side dental like I said I know a lot of it is not the staffs fault and they probably overwhelmed with abundance of people but they have to come up with a better system because I used to love going there now it's a hassle and I have to think about my health as well.

Always able to make appointments rather it be telehealth or an office visit

This is the worst place in Delaware.Nobody has idea what they are talking about.and the Service sucks.Me and my wife have a very bad experience dealing with this place.6 months ago they said we have to wait 6 mos for… kids dental check up but today they said for kids you don’t have to wait ,first you have to check with their hygiene specialist and he or she is not available so they suggested we have to go to Wilmington de which is 50 min away I am so disappointed 👎👎👎

Customer service by phone on May 26 until today I have had a disaster. taking into account my medical network they never called me. I only had better treatment in person. the nurse and the secretary from dover were… excellent today is agust 26 is taking me 2 week to reschedule at appointment they be hang out the call. Never call back. I’d don’t understand. Why Make. This so hard for patients very poor services. Call customer services the only good thing have is the medical and the nurse angel. She is at angel

My mom went here for a simple dental extraction and now has a severe infection. They told her to just go to med express and wouldn't help her!

I made a dental appointment in June of this year for July 17th at the dental office I received 4 emails to confirm my appointment 3 phone calls 2 text messages and a call the day before, so I get there, a half hour… away, hand her my insurance card and 10 minutes later I’m told they don’t take my insurance but the medical building attached to it, another westside medical establishment, had no problem taking my insurance, is the dental office not part of westside medical? Waist of a trip and not very professional

Really like the people, only after I get used to my Dr. He or She leaves. Seems as an abnormal turnaround for Doctors. And I prefer a Dr over a NP

Impossible to join

It’s very hard to even get in contact with anyone in the scheduling department, you’ll be on hold for 15-20 minutes and still not able to talk to anyone. Try to get a call back and you’ll just get hung up on and the… process repeats. Very frustrating.

Great doctor, great nurses, love the doctors and nurses.
