Meadows Outpatient Center Scottsdale Reviews and Ratings
A licensing record says what Meadows Outpatient Center Scottsdale is permitted to do. Reviews from patients and their families say what treatment in Scottsdale was like, and those accounts are collected in this section.
Advocate for yourself. Insist on being included in decisions and discussions about your health.
My family chose The Meadows because we were told our estimated out-of-pocket cost after insurance would be approximately $5,600. Based on that information, my husband admitted for treatment. Only a few days into his… stay, we were informed that insurance had denied coverage. Since my husband had no access to his phone or the internet, I reached out myself. I worked in medical billing for years and wanted to review the denial to ensure everything required had been submitted, as it appeared to me that he met the medical necessity criteria. When I called the finance department, I was shocked by the response. Rather than discussing an appeal process or how they would advocate for continued care, I was immediately told, “Our contract clearly states that if this happens, the remaining balance is $54,000.” At one of the most vulnerable moments in our lives, the focus felt entirely financial rather than clinical. My husband, who was only days into treatment and in an emotionally fragile state, was essentially left with the choice of signing financial responsibility for tens of thousands of dollars or leaving treatment. That is an impossible decision for someone in the early stages of addiction recovery. He was then transitioned into their PHP program in Scottsdale after insurance approved that level of care. We were told housing had been arranged for approximately $900 per month. However, when he arrived at the sober living home, no one was expecting him. He was then told he would need to get a job to remain there. Unfortunately, due to his business partnership agreement, he is contractually prohibited from working for another employer. He was left outside with nowhere to stay and had to scramble to book a hotel, rent a car, and eventually find an Airbnb on his own. While he continued attending PHP, he no longer had the structured residential environment that he needed during early recovery. Without that level of support, he relapsed into the behaviors he had entered treatment to address. Our family spent a significant amount of money on what we believed would be comprehensive residential treatment that was initially represented as costing approximately $5,600 after insurance. The financial burden was devastating, but more importantly, the disruption in care had serious consequences for his recovery. In hindsight, I wish we had chosen The Ranch in Tennessee, which had also been recommended to us. Their quoted cost was approximately $20,000, and they have an outstanding reputation and many positive reviews. We chose The Meadows because of the significantly lower estimate we were given and it was suggested by several CSAT. Since telling them our experiences they are all no longer recommending the meadows to their clients/patients. Every family’s experience is different, but ours left us feeling unsupported during one of the most difficult periods of our lives. I encourage anyone considering treatment to ask detailed questions about insurance verification, appeal procedures, financial responsibility if coverage changes, and discharge planning before making a decision.
Went for the adolescent care (which is no longer open) I literally GRIEVE this place everyday. It was such a fun enjoyable place, and i learned a lot about the beauty of living while there. The treatment definitely made… me stronger, and i learned to love myself.
Incredible experience. Had Tracy’s group she’s amazing. If you want to get better and look at relational issues 10/10 recommend.
I have been working with a few members of the meadows team. Every time I get on the phone with someone from there it’s a different person and some of them clearly aren’t even at the facility. I went through an hour… evaluation answering incredibly sensitive questions and I was extremely vulnerable and honest in answering these questions. I sought out this treatment on my own accord and would be paying almost 13 thousand dollars out of pocket to do so. After days of back and fourth, waiting on hold for copious amounts of time for some random new staff member to answer from there own home, I was told that they won’t accept me for an outpatient program and that I would need to pay more money to join there intensive in patient program. They told me that they don’t believe that I could stay sober for an outpatient program even though I have been sober and have court documentation proving my last 2 clean urine analysis’s over the last 30 days. This place is unprofessional and would rather force me into a more expensive program than to accept me as a willing, clean, cash paying patient for their Intensive outpatient program.
I have been sober for 5 years now, but it certainly isn’t thanks to The Meadows IOP in Scottsdale. I got kicked out for drinking kombucha back in 2018, and tested for a minuscule amount of alcohol in my system. When I… asked (Jim) why they were kicking me out for such a small (offense?), he told me they have kicked people out for drinking orange juice before. I don’t even know how to interpret that, even to this day. I have reason to believe they don’t care the slightest about their patients, rather the money that goes into their pockets. I felt like they kicked me out early simply to replace me and keep the money my family had spent to send me there. I do not recommend going here for help.
I went to the Meadows intensive outpatient therapy and was under the care of Dr. Volfson who prescribed me an overdose of gabapentin. Prescribers start patients at 300mg and she prescribed me 1200 plus an additional… 600mg 8 hours later. I began to experience seizures and convulsions and was transported to the hospital. I explained this situation to the director and she did not seem to care. I also wrote a letter asking for my medical bills to be covered which was denied. Their staff is inept at best and I would not recommend this facility to anyone who needs help with mental health issues. Dealing with this place made my issues worse. Do not go to them if you need help!!!!!!
In sending our son to iop we had high hopes. Unfortunately it did not pan out too well for us. The financial intake had no patience when requesting to use two payment methods, but I thought no problem, as she is not… carrying for my son. About two weeks prior to our son leaving, we had some concerns and requested a family session to discuss transition and next steps. In that meeting we learned that there were some sort of family sessions...... what??? The Meadows took our money and we did not find out about family sessions until the transition meeting, that we requested. Now our son is out, and no place to go really. And once you leave, 'by by', they are done with you. No followup, nothing. Thank you Meadows, family sessions would have been helpful along the way. May have uncovered the issue that drained the blood from the therapist' face much sooner. We had more communication with the sober living facility he lived in. How does one one go through treatment without family sessions, we never heard of such a thing, the family is just as impacted. I'm still scratching my head.
The team at The Meadows truly sets the standard for outpatient care. The 8-week program is unique in that it focuses on trauma, using a model and tools to guide participants through a journey of self discovery. It is… truly life-saving work and with the top-tier care team, I felt respected and supported. They also use many of the newest technologies, such as neurofeedback, to aid in recovery. I left the program stronger and will be forever grateful to The Meadows.
Don’t waste your time, most of the employees are unqualified and emotionally stunted. Cult like chants and prayers, mostly group sessions. Unable to get ahold of the director to see if this program would be a good fit.
The therapists (Katie and Jeremy) and neurofeedback techs (Dan) are amazing. The front desk staff are super welcoming and caring. However, this place's corporate polices are built to put you as a patient last. As… someone who has been here from July 2024 to Jan 2025 I would recommend finding another treatment center. Positives during my time here: - I am now able to feel like myself for the first time, I owe a lot of that to Katie and Jeremy for their help with me working on gender affirmation and removing shame messaging. - I can sleep regularly thanks to Neurofeedback. - I have new coping techniques. - And many more. Negatives during my time here I have experienced: - Having a few days left of treatment I was kicked out of the program and "graduated". This was due to the insurance year rolling over and I couldn't pay their insane costs immediately. (They wouldn't give me payment plan options or flexibility they wanted at least half right away despite the fact that my insurance was paying a majority of the cost). - My original therapist (name not listed) told me I wasn't trying hard enough despite doing everything I could to grow and learn. - My original group was full to bursting with 1-2 people joining every day. We couldn't even fit in the art or yoga room before I moved groups. This led to my therapist not having time for me or me being able to speak in the group. - If you have religious trauma, every 4 weeks they force you into a lecture with a person who will tell you that you'll go to hell or that God is the only way. - A psychiatrist told me gender affirming care should be my last priority and I need to put my mental health first despite the fact that my depression and anxiety nearly halved after I started it. - After being in a hostile situation, I as the victim in the situation was forced to stay home the day after the event instead of being allowed to join the group while the person who was the aggressor was allowed to stay in the group that day. - And more (I don't want to share due to confidentiality and respect for those involved).
Amazing staff. They did wonders for our family member.
I started to attended their Monday evening family support group. Was referred to me months ago and did not seriously give it consideration.....been to Al-non, CR and felt it would just be more of the same nothing. I was… wrong, Brough does a great job leading the discussion and extracting information for others like myself being new, raw emotionally that need hope. There are others that keep coming to support those of us who have been right where I am. I will keep coming back and encourage that if you have a love one that need help......make the call and get them connected. If you are the love one of someone fighting addiction or a mental disorder......come and work on you!!!
They deserve no stars . Meadows and wickenburg are all about money. They do not care about the patients. There facility in wickenburg is runned down and the staff in both facilities are rude and discurtutious. Do not go… there. They do not have compassion for patients. It’s all about the money.
Meadows Outpatient has truly changed my life for the better. During the 8 week program, I was able to work through my trauma and get a better grasp on my mental health. The therapy I received here was beyond amazing,… and I recommend Meadows to anyone struggling with mental health or addiction. The staff here are all truly so loving, welcoming, and caring. Thank you so much to my therapist and the rest of the staff for changing my life.
I had an amazing experience at the Meadows IOP. The staff is so helpful in making sure you get the best care possible. There are a variety of state of the art treatment methods available to use over the course of your… time there. During the COVID-19 pandemic the Meadows took every precaution to ensure the safety of the patients. Highly Recommended.
I love the Meadows! It’s like a resort rehabilitation center with an awesome staff. My husband came here for treatment of his addiction and successfully completed his 2 months of IOP. He has learned so much about… himself and the disease and has been 60 days sober. I have been attending family night counseling with him since he started his treatment with counselor Caroline Becker and have learned so much about myself in this process, the disease, and how to be a loving and supportive spouse. I’ve learned valuable tools on how to move forward with recovery that will last a lifetime. Caroline and everyone at the Meadows have been so loving, kind, compassionate and impactful.
Our 25 year old son was suffering from severe depression and attempted suicide. we searched for help and referred to the Meadows by a friend. What a waste of time and money. In 6 weeks he saw a professional only 1 time.… The variety of therapy sessions, conducted by non-professional staff, were not helpful at all. Many on staff, especially the admin staff, are not helpful at all and rude at times. The meadows is geared toward addiction and not depression/anxiety. If you or a loved one are looking for help without an addiction look elsewhere. We did finally get some great help from a professional who is now seeing our son on a weekly basis and making a huge difference in his life. Just wish I did not waste the thousands on the meadows.
