About Mind and Body Consortium – Dover

Mind and Body Consortium operates from 156 South State Street in Dover. The site sits in Kent County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. Nearby communities include Camden, Cheswold and Dover Base Housing. Distance matters here, and the nearest option is not always the one that fits.

Outpatient care is delivered here, alongside telehealth appointments and care for co-occurring mental health conditions. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

Treatment Services at Mind and Body Consortium

Outpatient care runs to a set weekly schedule, with evenings and weekends spent at home. That suits people holding down work or caring responsibilities, though it asks more of someone managing early recovery alone. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

Trauma-specific services run alongside, which matters where the two are tangled together. Co-occurring mental health conditions are treated in the same building rather than split across providers. Assessment decides the level of care, so ask what that involves and how quickly it can happen.

Today was a very frustrating experience with Mind and Body Consortium. I had a scheduled appointment for my final medication injection before leaving the practice and transitioning my care elsewhere. This transition had… already been discussed with my nurse practitioner beforehand, so I expected everything to be properly coordinated and prepared. The clinic did call and leave me a voicemail reminder about my appointment, but they never mentioned that my injection was unavailable. I was told to come in for my scheduled appointment, only to arrive and find out that the medication I was supposed to receive was not available. This was extremely disappointing and a complete waste of my time, gas, and effort. If the clinic knew the medication was unavailable, a simple phone call beforehand could have saved me an unnecessary trip. Especially when this was supposed to be my final injection before transitioning out of the practice, I expected better communication and preparation. The parking situation was actually fine today, although parking has been another frustration during previous visits because the lot is often full and finding a spot can be difficult. The communication and organization need significant improvement. When it comes to scheduled medication appointments, patients deserve to know ahead of time if their medication is unavailable instead of finding out after they arrive. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience and a frustrating way to end my time with the practice. I hope the clinic takes this feedback seriously and improves its communication, organization, and preparation for patients in the future.

They will scam you out of money claiming it’s for missed appointments that they were late to begin or never showed up to start. 50 a visit, then they will refuse to see you until the entire bill is paid, but if you tell… them no you’re not paying they will lower it down to 50-100 or whatever amount you finally agree to. It’s a scam, they know it’s a scam, and they need to be audited and shut down for these scummy underhanded practices.

Disappointing would be an understatement. Anyone who has EVER answered the phone here is unprofessional, rude, and appears angry to have even had to answer. The only reliable person here is my son’s med provider, his… counselor merely comes and goes. This past week his counselor completely ghosted him, I texted her, called her, nothing. Called the office, they said they’d send her a message, nothing happened, and I had zero follow up. As a parent, you just want to take care of your child. It’s awfully hard to do that when your referral is to a place that has worse customer service than Waffle House- and I don’t even get any bacon. Do better. Don’t waste your energy with this place.

I had fun talking to the 2 girls from the other desk at the window who made my experience here so much better we talked about an kdrama of squid game I wish I can come back to talk about more with them. I was going to… give it an one star because I had to return a year later after my interaction with Grace when I first interacted with her last year, she talked to me as a therapist but having hard trouble hearing my statement and has attitudes with me still even this day. My sister and mother had her before and didn’t like her for other reasons. The 2 girls asked me about wanting a different person because I’m pretty sure they know about the controversy against Grace and that I didn’t like her. If the girls are reading this review I just want to say I had fun talking with you guys and you made my day so much better 🫰🏻

I’m pretty sure Sherline Exantus knew who I was prior to our session. She made very odd comments about my mother and when I spoke about my issues she stated “what does it matter”.She definitely lied to her supervisor… about everything which is pathetic. The supervisor stated “Sherline had never had a complaint like this” yet everything I said actually happened. Being evil is not ok and it’s ten times worse when your supervisor is willing to stick up for your nonsense. She should not be in the field if she can’t be professional.

I haven’t been here in 3 years and they’re calling me about medical debt I don’t have. This place is a sham, there are better options with facilities run by professionals. The doctors are fine, it’s the woman who owns… and runs this business that’s the issue.

My experience with Mind, Body Consortium, specifically Maureen Darling, was unacceptable and profoundly disturbing. A critical medical form was completed and submitted stating that I had “NO qualifying conditions,”… despite Ms. Darling having direct knowledge of my medical and clinical history. This determination was made without consulting me, without performing an independent assessment, and without verifying the accuracy of the information submitted. I was never contacted—before or after—regarding a decision that directly affected my care. Notably, Ms. Darling also concurred with another practitioner to add multiple new medications without discussing the matter with me, without hearing my account of what occurred, and without engaging in any collaborative or informed decision-making. As a patient, I was excluded entirely. As a licensed mental health practitioner, I found this approach reckless and clinically indefensible. This was not a misunderstanding or a minor oversight. It reflected a pattern of dismissiveness, poor clinical judgment, and disregard for patient involvement in care decisions that carry serious consequences. Compounding these issues is the chronic failure of this practice to return patient phone calls. Messages go unanswered. Follow-up is nonexistent. There is no apparent urgency or accountability, even when matters are time-sensitive and impactful. Due to these serious concerns, I terminated Ms. Darling as my practitioner and secured care elsewhere. My trust was completely eroded. If you are considering Mind, Body Consortium, understand this: your voice may not be heard, your records may not be handled with care, and significant decisions about your treatment may be made without your involvement. I strongly urge prospective patients to think carefully before entrusting their care to a provider who demonstrates this level of disregard for communication, accuracy, and professional responsibility.

Glad I read the reviews. Such a low rating. I was going to take my son here whom the doctor referred but I don't need the problems and attitude that these reviews are stating. I'm sure there are other places much… better. This has the lowest reviews and they probably won't be around much longer if changes aren't made.

I agree with Heather, I have call at least 5 times and left messages, no response. Mind and Body was recommended by two of my doctors, I will tell both of my doctors that I didn't receive a call back from Mind and Body.

I was referred to this therapy office by the VA and started seeing Marie who’s been amazing. Although we've only met once, she is easy to talk to, and really made me feel supported. I truly wish I could continue seeing… her. Unfortunately, the front desk staff has been very unprofessional. The first time I called, a male staff member was short with me and got an attitude just because I was spelling out my name. More recently, I called to reschedule and was speaking with a female staff member. I was simply asking what appointment options were available when she cut me off to mention how much her feet were hurting. Then she raised her voice and said, “Do you want to schedule your appointment or not?” I’m disappointed because I really like my therapist, but the attitude and unprofessionalism from the front desk make it hard to feel comfortable continuing care here. If you’re a veteran referred here through the VA, just be aware that while some therapists may be great, the front desk experience could be frustrating. Don’t hesitate to advocate for yourself or explore other providers if you feel disrespected.

ABSOLUTE THE WORST. MY CHILD HAD SEEN MS. MICHELLE M. FOR 4 YEARS. IN 2023 SHE RELEASED HIM RIGHT BEFORE ACCEPTING A NEW POSITION IN SMYRNA. I JUST RECENTLY IN MARCH TRIED TO GO BACK THERE I WAS PUT WITH A NEW COUNSELOR… WHO OUT OF 4 VISITS WE SAW 1X DURME TO THE COUNSELOR NOT THE CLIENT. THEN I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD BE REASSIGNED SINCE THE FIRST COUNSELOR WAS HEADING OUT FOR MATERNITY LEAVE. SO I WAS SCHEDULED WITH ANOTHER THIS APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED 2 WEEKS BEFORE THE APPT. I RECEIVED A CALL FROM DANA AT THE OFFICE THAT THE APPT ON THE 22ND OF MAY WOULD BE CANCELLED AND SCHEDULED WITH YET ANOTHER COUNSELOR I ASKED WHY I WAS TOLD BECAUSE THAT COUNSELOR DIDNT ACCEOT MY INSURANCE. I ASKED WHY WASNT THAT CHECKED BEFORE ALL 5 OF THESE APPOINTMENTS WERE MADE? SHE DIDNT RESPOND I SAID TO HER ALL MY CHILDS APPOINTMENTS ARE SCHEDULED FOR 7PM SO SHE SAYS I CAN SCHEDULE YOU FOR THIS COUNSELOR IN MILFORD ON JULY 26TH AT 700PM THATS THE FIRST 7 I HAVE. HOWEVER WE HAVE OTHER AVAILABLE APPTS. I SAID MA'AM IF ALL MY APPTS ARE AT 7 ITS OBVIOUS THAT IS MY ONLY AVAILABLILITY. THEN I SAID YOU EXPECT ME TO WAIT ALMOST 2 MONTHS FOR AN APPOINTMENT BECAUSE OF YOUR AGENCY AFTER WAITING FROM MARCH?? SHE WAS ANGRY AT THAT POINT AND TOLD ME SHE DIDNT LIKE THE WAY I WAS SPEAKING TO HER SUPERVISOR. SO THEN I TOLD HER WHY ARE YOU UPSET GIVING 1 WORD SHORT ANSWERS, IM THE ONE THATVSHOULD BE AFTER BEING TOSSED ALL AROUND. SO WE GOT SCHEDULED FOR 1 APPT. I LIKE TO SCHEDULE MORE THAN ON. SHE SAYS DO YOU HAVE THE PORTAL I SAID YES ITS CONNECTED TO MY EMAIL IS THERE A WAY I CAN SEPARATE IT AND HAVE THE PORTAL BY ITSELF. SHE ACTUALLY DISCONNECTED THE CALL ON PURPOSE. AFTER ABOUT 5 MIN. I REALIZED IT WAS IN PURPOSE, CAUSEVSHE DID NOT TRY TO CALL BACK. I CALLED THE OFFICE IN DOVER I EXPLAINED TO THE PERSON THE CONVERSATION WITH DANA SHE TOLD ANOTHER PERSON HELPING HER THAT DANA IN MIDDLETOWN HUNG UP ON ME AND THAT SHE SEE MY CHIKD IS SCHEDULED ON MAY 22ND SO EVEN THOUGH I RECEIVED A CALL TELLING ME THEY HAD TO CANCEL THE APPT ON 22ND THEY DIDNT SO NOW MY CHILD WAS SCHEDULED WITH 2 DIFFERENT PROVIDERS ON 2 DIFFERENT DAYS. THEN THE PERSON ASKED ME WELL WHY ARE YOU SCHEDULED WITH THIS PERSON IN MILFORD WHEN YOURE IN DOVER. I SAID YOURE ASKING ME? THIS IS YOUR EMPLOYER. THEN SHE SAYS IM CONFUSED AND WANTED TO SEND ME OVER TO INTAKE WELL GUESS WHAT THE PHONE D/C AGAIN. SO IM FURIOUS NOW I CALLED BACK IM GUESSING IT WENT TO THE DOVER OFFICE ANOTHER PERSON LOOKS UP AND SAYS AGAIN I SEE YOUR CHLD HAS AN APPOINTMENT ON 22ND I AGAIN REPEATED MYSELF THAT I WAS CALLED AND TOLD THAT PROVIDER DIDNT ACCEPT THAT INS. AND THE APPOINTMENT WAS CANCELLED. SHE SAYS HOLD ON. SOMEONE ELSE PICKS UP THE PHONE AND SAYS MIDDLETOWN OFFICE, SO APPARENTLY I WAS TRANSFERRED. I SAID THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE NO ONE EXPLAINED ANYTHING TO YOU. SHE GIT IMMEDIATELY FRUSTRATED AND SAID THIS MY FIRSTBTIME PICKING UP THE PHONE ILL TRANSFER TO MY SUPERVISOR AND BOOM ANOTHER PHONE RINGING. SHE NEVER TOOK A BREATH FOR ME TO SAY ANYTHING ELSE AND JUST THREW ME TO SOMEONE ELSE. I JUST HUNG UP CALLED BACK AGAIN THIS TIME THE SAME PERSON WHO I TALKED TO PRIOR PICKED UP SAYING SHE DID TRANSFER THE CALL TO INTAKE IT MUST NOT HAVE GONE THROUGH. I TOLD HER I WAS DONE IM NOT DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. I WILL TAKE MY CHILDS NEEDS TO A PLACE WHERE COMPTETENT PEOPLE ARE EMPLOYED. TRUTH BE TOLD IF I CANT TRUST YOU TO GET SCHEDULING AND PROVIDING PROFESSIONAL STAFFING..ILL BE DAMNED IF I TRUST MY CHILD WITH YOUR COMPANY. I TOLD HER I WILL BE TRACKIBG MS. MICHELLE M. AT PEOPLES PLACE IN SMYRNA AND THATS EXACTLY WHAT I DID. GOING BACK TO A TRUE PROFESSIONAL. PROFESSIONALISM SHOULD NOT LOOK LIKE THIS REVIEW.

Scheduling appointments here is a beyond frustrating process. You have to leave messages, only for someone to call back over a month later. I had to be very pushy, calling several times, in order to set up my… appointment. They have been unclear about the process for initial telehealth visits, so much so that my visit had to be canceled (as the session was supposed to be starting) because I was not properly informed that I had to be in the office for it. I even called for clarification, I was told more than once that I did not need to be in the office. They may have some amazing providers here, but I will never know because I couldn’t get past scheduling. No one here seems to be on the same page. A place like this is supposed to ease stress, not cause it. Don’t waste your time here — go elsewhere.

The absolute worst place ever. I called everyday for 5 days to make an appointment for my mother. I left 4 messages and on the 5th day I asked to speak to a manager. The manager scheduled the appointment. On day #7 I… received 4 phone calls all asking to schedule an appointment. On day #9 they called to say the provider wasn’t taking any new providers. Today I received a phone call stating they were canceling the new appointment because they can’t accommodate my 81 yr old mom. Don’t waste your time going here. The staff is horrible, they don’t return calls. I will not recommend this place to anyone. I would like to respond to Mind and Body remark. I asked to speak to the owner and received a phone call from an assistant that said the owner would not talk to me. I was told that they could not accommodate my needs when it is my mother's needs and to find another place. The staff does not return calls in a timely manner. Day #4 I was told they would call me that day. They wanted a tel med call after they canceled the meeting because the therapist wasn't taking any new clients due to their personal problems. Their priorities aren't there. So tell me how it's not accurate
