About CatholicCare AOD Support Connections – Braddon
CatholicCare AOD Support Connections is an outreach case management programme run by Marymead CatholicCare Canberra & Goulburn from Favier House in Braddon, Canberra. The service works with anyone over sixteen who wants to stop or cut back alcohol and other drug use, at no cost.
Qualified alcohol and other drug workers take a non-judgemental harm-minimisation approach, helping with practical life changes, links into health and community services, crisis and relapse-prevention planning and harm reduction strategies. Support is short term, running up to about three months, and is delivered face to face at Favier House or at agreed community locations. Capital Health Network funds the programme, which has operated in Canberra for more than ten years. Self-referral and GP referral are both accepted, with an appointment needed.

CatholicCare AOD Support Connections Alcohol and Drug Services
Case management and relapse prevention are the two approaches CatholicCare AOD Support Connections lists, delivered as outreach and continuing support rather than as a clinical treatment programme. Workers help individuals over sixteen set goals, plan for crises and relapse, reduce harm and connect with health and community services.
An intake assessment opens the work, and blood-borne virus testing is listed among the assessments available. Episodes run up to roughly thirteen weeks, with sessions at Favier House or wherever in the community suits you better. Interpreters can be arranged. Counselling, withdrawal management and group programmes are not listed for this service, so the worker allocated to you refers on where those are needed.

Where Is CatholicCare AOD Support Connections?
CatholicCare AOD Support Connections is based at Favier House, 51 Cooyong Street, Braddon, Australian Capital Territory, postcode 2612, in inner north Canberra. Appointments can also be held at community locations agreed with your worker rather than at the Braddon office, which suits anyone for whom travel is hard.
Office hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm. An appointment is needed; self-referral and GP referral both work, and the number is (02) 6162 6100 with aodsupportconnections@mccg.org.au for email. Because much of the work happens as outreach, the first meeting may not be at Favier House at all, so settle the place and time with the service before setting out.

How Much Does Treatment at CatholicCare AOD Support Connections Cost?
Support from CatholicCare AOD Support Connections is free. CatholicCare AOD Support Connections Reviews
Reviews of CatholicCare AOD Support Connections from around the web are limited, which is typical of an outreach case management service rather than a clinic with a public waiting room. RehabSeekers hosts reviews for the programme, and anyone who has worked with a support worker here is welcome to share their experience.
Marymead CatholicCare Canberra & Goulburn runs a wide range of family and community programmes, so online comment usually describes the wider organisation. A note on how quickly a worker was allocated, how the outreach meetings were arranged and what the relapse-prevention planning covered would tell you or a loved one far more than a star rating.
I had an appointment booked this morning at 10am. I received a phone call last night to confirm I was going to be there. I have waited for this appointment for a long time to get into a program that would be able to… help and support me as my life is currently facing some very difficult circumstances. I was referred to this service by another service that is providing me with support. I arrived this morning right on time, was checked in by reception and then I waited....and waited.....and waited. By ten past eleven, (over 1 hour after being checked in) I asked reception if everything was ok since I had been waiting for over 1 hour. They had no idea where the person i was supposed to see even was, and, they could not even contact them on the phone. Reception apologised and said they will text me once they find the person and my appointment is re booked. I am frustrated because I got several reminders about the appointment and it never happened. I could have been doing anything else productive but instead I wasted over an hour sitting in a waiting room and have nothing to show for it!
Very helpful and kind staff ❤️
An unreliable service can do more harm than it not being there at all. Time and time again, I have ran out of essential medication because they have failed to adhere to bureaucratic processes
Have been going there for four years now, old doctor was great. New doctor has not done as much as old doctor. They cannot help with long term medical conditions and mental health issues. Wasting my time going there.… limited services for mental health and drug and alcohol in the public health system very restrictive
Helped me in so many ways I'm forever greatful
I would like to see Charlie again if I need help with my addiction issues, it was good experience to meet some professionals who guide me to the right path and motivate. Thank you ( Charlie @ Directions ) ..
