About Canberra Recovery Hub – Braddon

Canberra Recovery Hub is a community-based day programme run by The Salvation Army at Braddon for adults affected by substance use. The Hub works within a harm-minimisation framework and does not require abstinence, so you or a loved one can join while still making changes.

The group programme runs for about twelve weeks in three four-week stages, with a certificate available at the end of each stage. Support takes in assessment and care planning, peer mentors, one-to-one psychosocial support, case management and relapse management, and the programme is non-residential, so participants return home each day. Groups run between 10am and 2pm. Self-referral is accepted, as are referrals from GPs, other services, courts, corrections and legal services, with an initial assessment by phone or in person.

Canberra Recovery Hub Alcohol and Drug Services

Canberra Recovery Hub delivers a non-residential day programme, continuing support and outreach for adults in Canberra. Group therapy sits at the centre, backed by peer support, case management, relapse management and one-to-one psychosocial support, with an intake assessment and care plan at the start of the twelve-week course.

The course is built in three four-week stages, each with its own certificate, and groups run from 10am to 2pm. Gambling is listed among the behavioural concerns the service addresses, and financial counselling, emergency relief and a drop-in centre operate from the same Braddon site. Participants can step up to The Salvation Army’s programme at Fyshwick or step down into community support, and court-referred attendance is accepted. Transport support is listed.

Attending Canberra Recovery Hub is free of charge. No private pay rate or insurance arrangement is listed for the programme. Financial counselling and emergency relief run from the same site, which can help with money pressures while you attend, and transport support appears among the extras. Canberra Recovery Hub Reviews

Reviews of Canberra Recovery Hub from around the web are limited, which is usual for a free community day programme operating inside a larger charitable organisation. RehabSeekers hosts reviews for the Hub, and anyone who has worked through the Braddon group programme is welcome to share their experience.

The Salvation Army attracts plenty of online comment, but it rarely separates this day programme from the charity’s other work in Canberra. A description of the three stages, how useful the peer mentors were and whether the certificate at each stage mattered would help individuals weighing up a non-residential option.
