The main building closed temporarily from August 2025 for renovation, and withdrawal now operates from 5-19 Mary Street. A non-residential Foundations Central programme is co-located, while the residential rehabilitation programme has relocated to Morisset. William Booth House Recovery Services Reviews

William Booth House is a long-standing Surry Hills service, and public comment about it from around the web is generally appreciative of the staff. RehabSeekers hosts reviews for the service, and anyone who has stayed in the withdrawal unit is welcome to share what the experience was like.

Online feedback often describes The Salvation Army’s alcohol and drug work in general terms rather than this unit. Accounts of dormitory accommodation during withdrawal, how the nursing team worked, how the temporary Mary Street arrangement is running and what counselling followed would be the most useful detail for anyone considering it.

Saved my life, they had 12 step (AA/NA) based program back then. I understand the government funding has forced them to change this, unfortunately. Hopefully people can find AA/NA or other support programs after they… leave, if this is the case. Back then we went to AA/NA meetings regularly, visited Talbot House to experience what's waiting if you keep drinking/using :( (prob not something they do these days but I'll never forget those poor souls with Korsakoff syndrome/wet brain, insane and untreated, no m@th back then, just dirty old school dr@gs) It's the hardest thing you'll ever do, but not harder than existing as an alcoholic/addict until the bitter end... and people can complain all they like about the staff, the food, the beds, the chores, the bill (that the government pays) etc etc but if you are lucky enough to get into any program, these days, then try doing things differently and you might find a new life on the other end. Best wishes n good luck because the odds are never in your favour with addiction of any kind.

You won't get your foot in the door these people judge based on your past and will leave you hanging for weeks and weeks without a definite answer. When you stand your ground against abuse they play on your disposition… and make you out to be aggressive or violent if you have mental issues or a criminal past they will make you gather every piece of document and wait even longer for a response. They are just as corrupt as their stores

This is a Salvation Army run non for profit drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. Is based on the 12 step principle of Alcoholics Anonymous. Both male and female rehabilitation. Live in quarters. Group therapy… sessions and more.

The support the staff have showed to get someone really special to me through their darkest hour is an inspiration. It isn’t just a job to them they genuinely care. No judgement just a passion to help and support people… to believe in themselves. Thank you keep up the amazing work.

Very grateful to have been given a chance at turning it all around at WBH. No one else was able to at the time I needed as the system is overwhelmed with people who need and want help. Thanks WBH 🙏🙏🙏
