About Algarve Wellness
Algarve Wellness is a small private residential recovery centre in the Faro district of Portugal’s Algarve, treating alcohol and drug dependence alongside depression, anxiety, trauma and executive burnout. The programme is aimed at adults, executives and individuals in the public eye, and every stay is built around an in-depth psychological assessment led by the Clinical Director.
Dr. Miguel Goncalves, the Clinical Director, is a registered specialist in clinical and health psychology who works in Portuguese, English and Spanish, and he carries out the assessment himself. Clients stay in a private villa with sea-view suites, gardens, spa and fitness facilities. The core programme runs around 30 days, with dependency, mental health and wellness programmes individualised from there. Admission begins through the web form or WhatsApp line, followed by the assessment and a tailored plan, and a 30-day aftercare plan with a recovery coach, virtual or in the client’s home country, follows discharge.

Algarve Wellness Alcohol and Drug Services
Algarve Wellness offers two levels of care: a residential stay and a 30-day aftercare plan. The centre treats alcohol, ketamine and prescription-drug dependence as well as gambling and sex addiction, and it treats co-occurring conditions such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder and burnout at the same time rather than in sequence.
Therapy is one-to-one and drawn from CBT, DBT, EMDR, trauma reprocessing and family work, with biofeedback and quantitative EEG brain mapping used to shape the plan and psychiatric oversight throughout; the centre describes EMDR for trauma, DBT with biofeedback for anxiety and brain mapping to tailor CBT for depression. Equine therapy, ketamine therapy, mindfulness, breathwork, movement and nutrition sit alongside the clinical work, and the approach is described as non-12-step.
