Brazos Valley Council on Alc and SA – Bryan Detox and Rehab Services

What Brazos Valley Council on Alc and SA – Bryan offers, on record, is intensive outpatient and outpatient care. Structured outpatient runs to a schedule while people return home in the evening. Anyone unsure which level fits should ask for an assessment rather than choosing from a list, since placement criteria exist precisely to make that judgement.

Combined treatment is not recorded, which is worth checking before committing. Approved medication is paired with counseling and regular review. Ask what a typical week involves before committing, since the schedule determines whether the program is workable alongside work or family.

I recently sent a package containing essential items—clothes and hygiene products—to my girlfriend, who just completed SAFTP. Unfortunately, despite spending $80 on shipping, the package was denied because it was 8… pounds over the weight limit. I had spoken to staff twice beforehand about what was allowed, yet I was never informed about the specific weight restrictions. Had I known, I wouldn’t have included liquid laundry detergent. When I reached out to the director and requested a one-time exception, I was denied, even though this package contained everything she needed during a critical transition period. Now, the package is being returned, which means weeks of delays and another $80 to resend it. This decision has left her without essential hygiene items and clothing, making reintegration even more challenging. Given the institution’s mission to support individuals in rebuilding their lives, I would have hoped for a more understanding and compassionate approach. I strongly urge better communication regarding shipping guidelines and more flexibility in cases where basic needs are at stake.

I have a friend that is transferring there from the Halbert program in mid-November. This Substance Abuse program is not necessary for her post release from Halbert. She has already chosen a path away from any… Controlled Substances. It would be a great help if she could be released to go home before the Thanksgiving holiday to spend with her family.
