Where Is Camaldoli Hospital?
The hospital is at Via Antonio Cinque 93/95 in the Camaldoli area, a hillside district in the north-west of Naples away from the busiest parts of the historic centre.
Naples International Airport (Capodichino) is unusually close to the centre, only a few kilometres away with the Alibus shuttle running into the city; the hillside setting of Camaldoli means it’s worth checking current public transport links and confirming admission hours before travelling up to the hospital.

How Much Does Treatment at Camaldoli Hospital Cost?
Admission to the S.I.R. psychiatric unit is arranged through the local Centro di Salute Mentale, so care may be accessible at no direct cost to residents through the public health system, alongside self-pay options for those who choose them; this route shouldn’t be assumed to apply to a visitor from outside Italy. Because Camaldoli combines general hospital and psychiatric rehabilitation services rather than a stand-alone addiction residential programme, typical Naples-area residential figures of around €8,700–€23,000 (£7,500–£20,000) a month are included as broader context rather than a like-for-like guide.
Ask the admissions office how the Centro di Salute Mentale referral route works, what a self-pay stay includes, and how semi-residential places compare in cost with the residential option.

Camaldoli Hospital Reviews
Patients, family members who’ve supported someone through a stay here, or healthcare professionals who’ve referred into the S.I.R. unit are all encouraged to add a review.
Beyond reviews, it’s worth checking the hospital’s National Health Service accreditation and asking about the clinical team responsible for the unit you’d be admitted to. A practical question to raise directly is how the individual therapeutic plan is reviewed and adjusted once a semi-residential or residential placement begins.
The facility is located in a very beautiful area and is very well equipped, but I cannot provide further details as I do not know the staff or the care providers.
Villa Camaldoli - AVOID My aunt, hospitalized for 2 months for a fractured femur. Zero hygiene: never bathed in 2 months, except once after our complaints. They only changed diapers (they even put two on top of each… other). Physiotherapy NEVER started, due to lack of callus formation, but they could certainly have done something to speed things up. The records show the use of a rehabilitation machine that was never used. Total lack of care and dignity for patients. This is not a rehabilitation clinic, it's a chronic care facility where patients are abandoned. Terrible experience. I would never go back.
Maximum seriousness
Professionals. Beautiful property. Panoramic view of Naples.
My name is Nicola Salerno and I would like to share my experience at the Villa Camaldoli Clinic – Camaldolesi Hospital, where I was admitted for intensive and continuous rehabilitation from July 6th to September 4th, on… the fourth floor of the facility. Until recently, I was unfamiliar with this clinic; today, I can confidently say that I have found an environment of true professionals. From day one, I was cared for with care, competence, and humanity by an excellent medical team, to whom I extend my most sincere gratitude. A special thanks goes to the head nurses and the rehabilitation staff, who carried out their work with great professionalism and enthusiasm. Appreciation also goes to the nurses, always vigilant, present, and attentive to every need, and to all the healthcare workers, who demonstrated rare human sensitivity and commendable dedication, as well as to the speech therapist, who was always kind and attentive. My most heartfelt thanks go to the physiotherapists, who with skill, patience, and perseverance accompanied me on my recovery journey, allowing me to regain a significant part of my physical strength. Their daily presence, combined with their ability to motivate and support, has been a fundamental element of my rehabilitation. After two months of treatment, I can say that the Villa Camaldoli Clinic is a facility that deserves to be known and appreciated. Therefore, I recommend it to anyone who needs a serious, intensive rehabilitation program supported by high-level professionals.
Clean, welcoming. Very disciplined.
The Ponticelli Mare Hospital in Naples ruled that my grandfather, Giacomo Covone, was in good enough condition to be taken to you, but you rejected him twice, claiming he wasn't in good enough condition to be treated by… you. But I wonder: hasn't the hospital ever sent other patients to you, without even knowing what condition they should be transferred to, or are you the ones who only take whoever suits you? I demand an answer after my grandfather was treated like a garbage bag in the heat and sent back and forth to Naples.
Hi, I'm Luigia Covone's sister, and I'd like to respond to your comments. First of all, I speak as someone who witnessed a massacre. I was there with my father, and I must say it was a shocking experience that deserves… to be reported. My father was never hospitalized because the doctor insisted he should remain in that condition, i.e., a NON-RECOVERABLE CASE. This may have depended on the clinical assessment, but it's another story to talk nonsense, even saying that we children wanted to get rid of our father, or to have the doctor refer him to another doctor who wanted to sedate him. I repeat, it deserves a report. I saw my father with my own eyes; in the hospital, he was sitting on the bed, holding himself up. The doctor read my father's medical records with a disgusted expression. I believe the wheel turns for everyone, and I hope he experiences the same things my father experienced, first and then us children. Best regards, DOCTOR. EXCELLENT JOB.
I THANK YOU and I FELT VERY WELL with ALL THE STAFF: MY PHYSIOTHERAPIST (CLAUDIA, AND MARCO...,), THE PSYCHOLOGIST (DR. ANNA), THE OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST (FRANCESCA), AND, (THE NURSE ENZO, THE OSS PASQUALE...), ALL OF… THEM, GOOD AND KIND.... Unfortunately, however, I cannot give a HIGHER SCORE, because YES the experience of about 3 months, (patient affected by MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS... in DH INTENSIVE REHABILITATION hospitalization CODE 56), was VERY POSITIVE AS REGARDS THE HUMAN RELATIONSHIP... BUT, NEGATIVE, (AT LEAST FOR ME), RESPECTING THE RULES, (THAT IS TO GO THERE EVERY DAY, WAS VERY STRESSFUL, (AND I UNDERLINE FOR ALL OF US, WHO ALREADY HAVE THE ENORMOUS BURDEN OF THE ILLNESS...! FINALLY, UNFORTUNATELY I MUST ADD, I HAVE NOT FULLY RECOVERED MY FUNCTIONS (I STILL HAVE MANY DIFFICULTIES AND PROBLEMS, (OBVIOUSLY CAUSED BY THE PATHOLOGY ITSELF....)
Unfortunately, I'm writing this with great sadness and dismay. My father has been transferred to your facility twice for rehabilitation after he had a stroke a month ago, and he's been rejected each time. I never… understand the reason! My situation is truly sad, and seeing this makes me even sadder.
Beautiful building and very friendly and helpful staff. Car parking and elevator for disabled guests.
My son was hospitalized in this facility for seven months, then urgently transferred to Cardarelli Hospital for a respiratory problem. But when we arrived, the doctors told us that my son was suffering from… bronchopneumonia, fever, malnutrition, and anemia, and weighed 42 kg. They immediately told us that he was too weak to tolerate bronchopneumonia. After a day and a half, he passed away. But what hurt me was the facility's behavior after the transfer: no one contacted us to ask how he was, not even to return his personal belongings after his passing. A human gesture before a professional one. This review was born out of grief, but above all from the understanding that the dignity and care of every patient must always be a priority.
Terrible experience
We throw them on a bed and wait for the hospital stay to pass! My dad wasn't even being hydrated anymore, and unfortunately I decided too late to take him away. We have the right to decide where we can go, but they… don't say it because it's all a big deal with the hospitals.
My excellent review goes especially to the fifth floor, because all the doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers I met on that floor were exceptional and made me feel at home despite the challenges I faced. The… physiotherapists were equally magnificent, working with professionalism and patience, especially the one who looked after me, Carlo.
Negative experience, my mother was brought to this facility following a femur operation due to a fall at home and instead of improving she came back without having set foot on the floor or sitting on a normal chair and… spent almost two months in bed doing only exercises in bed in recent times they made her stand up near the wheelchair, have the facility closed for my mother they ruined her by staying with you it would have been better if after the operation she had gone straight home
Excellent structure.
"Scánsate ca passa 'a libera" The Camaldoli Hospital appears well-maintained from the outside, but unfortunately, the experience inside was completely different from expectations. The main problem concerns the… organization and management of the staff: doctors have become inattentive, to the point that it often felt like we had to be the ones reminding them what to do or which treatments to follow. Even more disappointing is the behavior of the nurses: rude, inefficient, unprofessional, and lacking any empathy for patients, in some cases even forgetting to administer prescribed medications. When you entrust a person's health to a hospital, you expect competence, attention, and humanity. Unfortunately, in this experience, all of this was lacking. "Scánsate ca passa 'a libera" perfectly describes the feeling this place left. Since I can't reply (UNFORTUNATELY), I'll add my response here: I appreciate your acknowledgement of my testimony, however, I feel it's important to clarify that what I've described isn't an isolated experience or a one-off incident. During my time at the facility, we had the opportunity to interact with other patients and family members, including those in the private rooms, and we gathered numerous testimonials highlighting issues similar to those I've reported. My review is based solely on facts and firsthand experiences and is not influenced by comparison with other people's reviews, whether positive or negative. I believe that aspects such as the staff's professionalism, patient care, empathy, and proper management of therapies are fundamental and deserve careful consideration. I therefore hope that the reflection you've announced will translate into a concrete improvement in the service offered to patients and their families.
