How Much Does Treatment at Centro de Saúde de Lagos Cost?
This is a general public health centre rather than a dedicated addiction treatment service, so typical addiction-care cost tiers aren’t a direct match; outpatient-level mental health and addiction support in the wider Algarve area runs around €700–€2,300 (£600–£2,000) a month as broader context only. As a public facility, general care here is available through Portugal’s national health system at no direct cost to residents, subject to registration and residency.
For anything addiction-specific, ask the centre how a referral to a specialist treatment team is arranged, and what to expect from a first general or family medicine appointment.

Centro de Saúde de Lagos Reviews
A review from a patient of this health centre, a relative who has accompanied someone here, or a healthcare professional familiar with its services would be a helpful addition for other residents and visitors to Lagos.
As a public facility, this centre’s standing rests on Portugal’s national health system rather than a private accreditation mark. If you need addiction-specific support rather than general medicine, a good question to ask is how the centre handles referral to specialist services.
The healthcare staff are full of empathy! And very competent!
Thankfully, I already have a family doctor. I needed to resolve a health problem that had been dragging on for months, which I was attended to by my doctor. The whole process was quick, and I left with tests to schedule… and good service also at the administration office in the Lacobriga unit.
Its a nightmare! You have to go to one building to get a ticket and then go to another building to wait. Only to be told well the doctor doesn't speak English and you dont speak Portuguese, how can help? Really didnt… want to help. Receptionist a nasty jobsworth
Very happy with service from usf. Staff very kind & helpful.
Just spend the money to go to a private doctor where you don’t have to spend your whole day waiting to get the most sub par medical attention you could imagine
I would be surprised if the service at the Lagos Health Center ever got any better. There's a lot of disregard and mockery towards those seeking care. Even the complaints book is useless, as the receptionist herself… told me when I asked for it.
One of my badest expeience to come for check up. I was sick & came for checkup but theu give me appointment after 2 weeks. Once i came on my appointment there system was not working & no body know what to do. My… question is why the medical system is not arranged properly? Where is the mair of the city who always spread the wrong adunda. Better to spend some money & go for private dr.
Terrible, they left us waiting in the cold for 2 hours, they have no respect for anyone.
Terrible. You have to call a thousand times for them to answer a damn call. Absolutely shameful 🙄
They are undergoing renovations to improve service and enhance the well-being of users. It's a breath of fresh air for everyone. Thank you and continued improvements that will benefit us all. Thank you
Very attentive
I find it shameful that in the year 2025, someone can call 10 times or more and no one answers, forcing them to travel unnecessarily to make an appointment and probably have to go back to wait for their appointment… time. NOT EVEN IN 2010!
Zero stars. I went to the health center, the closest building, in an emergency situation where I was fainting with my six-year-old daughter beside me. I asked for help, and the receptionist started giving me a pointless… questionnaire. She even got up from her chair and said that "people don't explain themselves well and want me to guess." When I asked for a nurse to help me in a moment of great distress, the nurse arrived, asked me what was happening, and said, "This isn't a hospital. Where are you from?" I replied that I was from Vila do Bispo, to which his response was super arrogant, saying, "You should know this isn't a hospital, I can't do anything for you." “I wonder how there are people like this working in a health center, insensitive people with no observational skills and extreme arrogance. As far as I'm concerned, these two employees should be fired from their posts. They have absolutely no idea what their job is as healthcare professionals. I don't know their names, but those who read this message know them: The two people on duty on 11/15/2025 around 12:30 pm. Someone responsible for the service should do something about how these two people address others. They should offer help instead of judgment. I mentioned again that I was with my 6-year-old daughter! I would appreciate it if you could do something about this.”
Unfriendly reception staff who are not interested in the patients' well-being.
The appointment time is set for the Health Center to close at 8 PM, but at 6 PM I only found cleaning staff there. So I have to come back tomorrow just to schedule an appointment. But what does it matter if people have… to go there and then? We're treated like flocks of goats to them. How shameful...
All the professionals at this health center, with the exception of one person, demonstrate unequivocal dedication to their work. They deserve praise for this, as it's clear they perform demanding duties. However, this… comment refers to that exception, a nurse named Patricia. This woman, besides being arrogant, questions patients' decisions in a judgmental tone. She critically asks an adult why they don't want to be vaccinated with vaccine A or B (as if that were any of her business. As far as I know, an adult has the right to do what they want with their body without fearing social judgment or discrimination); she questions why they are sitting in the entrance hall (again, what does that have to do with her?). In short: we, the taxpayers who fund the National Health Service (SNS), pay the salaries of people who should be impartial and, if not humble, at least professional (I don't demand friendliness or smiles, but politeness and that they don't interfere in patients' choices); but this is not always the case. I understand that there is a shortage of nurses, but allowing such people to work without warnings is a disservice to society, as they will continue to engage in unacceptable behavior. Next time, even if only symbolically, since it doesn't usually yield fruitful results, I will consider requesting the complaints book.
Service needs improvement.
Today, August 4th, 2025, at 8:30 AM, the receptionist at the Customer Service department mocked me! Speaking to a customer with a mocking tone is unprofessional! She refused to assist me and sent me to a private clinic.… I was actually treated with respect and professionalism at that clinic!! Sometimes it's better to pay!
Terrible system. Your made to arrive at 7am, 1 hour before they open the doors to queue up, to take a ticket, to queue up again inside, just to speak to a receptionist. Be prepared to stand outside for a long time next… to a load of people all smoking and whilst mosquitos and gnats bite your legs. You can also guarantee that an entitled 40-60 year old Portuguese woman will arrive late and walk herself straight to the front of the queue with little regard for those that have been stood outside for 30-60 minutes. I wanted to see a doctor about asthma and dealing with post traumatic stress and lack of sleep. Just queueing up at this run down building made me need a doctor for lung cancer and malaria too. When I finally got to speak to the receptionist, I was told my doctor is in another town. A town I have never lived in. I’ve always lived in Lagos yet I’m told I now need to do the same horrible queuing at 7am at a doctors in a completely different town on another day. Absolute joke their system. I genuinely prefer to suffer with my health problems than go through this hell.
Zero empathy! Ask me why I pay income tax in this banana republic. All the employees complain about the salaries, but nobody wants to work or help.
They don't answer the phone and don't reply to emails, it's impossible to contact them. Every time I go to the health center it's empty. How is it possible that they are so inefficient in their work serving patients at… the Discoveries unit?!
I've been trying to call the center for over 30 minutes and no one is answering! We wouldn't have such a poor opinion of the service if the assistants were pleasant and helpful, which is not the case. They make us feel… like a nuisance.
