How Much Does Treatment at Addictologie Fernand-Widal Cost?

Fernand-Widal spans several levels of care, so the relevant regional guide figures are around €5,200–€16,000 (£4,500–£14,000) a month for medically supervised inpatient withdrawal, €5,200–€11,000 (£4,500–£9,500) a month for day-hospital programmes, and €1,000–€3,500 (£900–£3,000) a month for outpatient consultations in the Paris area. These are market estimates rather than the department’s own published rates.

As a public hospital service, treatment is arranged through the French national health system, with eligibility and access depending on residency and a referral letter rather than being open to visitors from abroad. Ask how the online referral platform works and what it requires from a GP or specialist.

Addictologie Fernand-Widal Reviews

If you or a family member has experience of the addiction medicine department at Fernand-Widal, or you’ve referred a patient there as a healthcare professional, sharing a review helps other people understand the pathway into care.

Beyond reviews, it’s worth checking accreditation and staffing: this is a public AP-HP hospital service regulated by the Agence Régionale de Santé (ARS) Île-de-France. A useful question to ask is exactly what a referral letter needs to include and how long the process typically takes to arrange.

I went to the reception desk at Fernand-Widal Hospital with my dog to get help for a life-threatening emergency concerning a loved one. Two security guards immediately confronted me about the ban on dogs. Despite my… explanations, I received no help or guidance. Their behavior was aggressive and intimidating; one of them even threatened to break my phone if I recorded them. I understand the ban on dogs, but refusing any guidance in the face of a life-threatening emergency is tantamount to failing to assist a person in danger. This is particularly regrettable in a hospital reception area. Monday, October 5 - 5:00 PM

If I could give zero stars… the geriatrics department at this facility is simply catastrophic. A living hell and a true scandal: one intern for 120 patients on a weekend in August, no protective measures or hydration… for the elderly during the heatwave, no air conditioning of course, infrequent blood tests even when hypernatremia (related to the heatwave at the hospital) was discovered, and complete opacity regarding the figures and dosages. In short, do everything you can to avoid this place, a site of aberrations and shortcomings of all kinds.

Disastrous poison control service: I called three days ago about poisoning. They barely listened to me, so I can't describe the problem. The first person gave me medication that dangerously worsened my condition. For… three days now, I've been vomiting my guts out 30 times a day. I called them back, and they told me I needed to see a doctor. Even though they made my situation worse. So why do we call you then? To have a barbecue?

It is incomprehensible that this establishment holds a label of excellence for its patient care, given the complete disconnect between the reality on the ground and the reality. What we observe here is nothing short of… blatant managerial and psychological manipulation. On the first day, the patient is welcomed with open arms. On the day of discharge, the staff goes above and beyond to ensure a positive departure. But in between, the stay transforms into a deplorable experience. The care teams gang up on each other at the expense of the patients, and the most vulnerable suffer serious neglect. The staff, including the security guards, demonstrate a total lack of respect and consideration. The two-faced nature of this hospital is glaring. In the presence of department heads, doctors, and management, everyone is calm, professional, and impeccable. As soon as those in charge leave, the staff's behavior changes drastically. The patient is then marginalized, infantilized, and treated as if they have no value. This is a well-honed psychological strategy that relies on the fact that the problems encountered during the stay will be forgotten, leaving only the beginning and the end in memory. To make matters worse, medical information is shrouded in complete secrecy. Patients are kept in the dark about their own health, and accessing their medical records is strictly impossible before final discharge, which blatantly violates patients' rights and the legal framework. This facility is one of the worst I have ever experienced. Reading other reviews, I see that this appalling assessment is widely shared. If you value your health, your fundamental rights, and your dignity, absolutely avoid this place.

I have never seen such an incompetent hospital. When I requested an appointment for a cancer patient with a cardiologist, I was told: "We cannot accommodate your request." My question is: is this a hospital or an… automated system that is rejecting requests?

My experience at Fernand Vidal Hospital has been extremely disappointing and worrying. In just one week after our father's admission, his condition deteriorated significantly: he lost weight and became considerably… weaker. On two occasions, we found him in a dangerous situation, on the verge of falling out of bed. At no point did the staff intervene to ensure his safety, replace the bed rails, or reposition him correctly. He even had to ask for help from another patient over 85 years old. The organization of the ward is chaotic. Meals are simply dropped off without any assistance or help with eating, which is unacceptable for frail patients. The situation in the blue ward on the second floor is particularly alarming. In my opinion, it would be preferable to transfer the patients hospitalized in that unit. Serious administrative problems are also a problem. We had arranged for an ambulance to transfer our father to an address in Seine-et-Marne (77), but the request was denied due to an error: the registered address was in Paris (9th arrondissement). In short, I do not recommend this hospital or this service. The quality of care, both medically and administratively, is very poor and raises serious concerns about patient safety.

I was seen today at the Ferdinand Vidal CEGID clinic following up on tests I had done two days prior. I had an STD and it was urgent to treat me. I received the results by phone on March 18th, and the woman on the other… end clearly told me I needed to come in after 2 PM. I arrived before 3 PM, but the receptionist and the nurse refused to see me. The head doctor had to intervene and pressure me into accepting my file. Their behavior, which I won't describe, began on March 17th. After a consultation with the doctor, I went to see the nurse who took a blood sample and handed me a prescription, which I couldn't fill because I didn't have supplemental health insurance. She asked if it would be possible to fill the prescription with my insurance coverage, but then she started telling me about the current situation in France, how difficult it will soon be to get medical care without supplemental insurance... The rest of the discussion was heated because I responded in kind, saying that I've been in this country for 20 years, like any good, hardworking, and conscientious citizen, and so on... To summarize, they wanted me to pay for it, which she refused without a greeting or anything, saying I had to go to the emergency room, and that I had arrived at 3 PM and the women's clinic was at 5 PM... as written.

Fernant Widal Hospital, Ménilmontant sector I would like to congratulate Mr. Moustafa, a particularly bright young nurse who, beyond his work, remains kind, compassionate, and professional—something that is sadly… becoming increasingly rare in this field. He always has the right words and takes excellent care of my father!

Dr. Dominique Pataut, Fernand Widal Hospital, screening center. While the receptionist was charming, the doctor who saw me was appalling. As I entered the room, he sighed, seemingly annoyed by my presence. Throughout… the appointment, he was constantly condescending, patronizing, and guilt-tripping. It makes you wonder how the hospital can allow this doctor to see vulnerable patients, which was my case. Psychological well-being is clearly not Dr. Dominique Pataut's area of expertise. Never again.

Everyone is lovely, but you really shouldn't be in a hurry! It opens at 1 p.m., I arrived at 12:20 to avoid the crowds, and there were two people ahead of me. It's 2 p.m., and only one of the two people ahead of me has… been seen and left 30 minutes later. Since then, nothing. The second person is still waiting, and so am I. It's unbelievable. Nobody tells us anything. We don't know what we're waiting for; it's like there's only one doctor, and he's left. I'm flabbergasted.

I went to the hospital, to Infectious Diseases Ward 3. All the staff at the entrance, as well as the nurses, were lovely and very professional, truly invaluable. But once I got to the doctor, I completely changed my… mind. He's an unpleasant, judgmental person, completely lacking in sensitivity, who simply follows the rules to the letter without taking into account the patients' actual situation (often at risk of infection). As a result, these people are left to fend for themselves, even though they come to these centers precisely to protect themselves. Perhaps this man should retire and make way for someone more humane and welcoming. I repeat, the nurses and reception staff were excellent and very professional. P.S.: He didn't give me the treatment because I'm heterosexual—but he also didn't give the medication to a gay man. How shameful! With this kind of decision, the whole of society remains exposed to the risk of infection.

I once came to see my father, who was in detox, in one of the hospital's wards. He's dead now. It was a very moving moment. I found my father in his room, completely broken. Even more so than the last time I'd seen him.… He was charming, and he still thought he was, so he tried to charm the nurses—unbearable. I thought to myself—what courage they have, what courage and dignity, to endure the jokes and the complaints and the pain and the mood swings of the patients… I like to walk past the hospital for a brief moment of melancholy, because that's where I saw him, not for the last time, but almost, my unbearable little drug addict of a father.
