How Much Does Treatment at Chapman Barker Unit Cost?
As an NHS unit, Chapman Barker Unit provides medically managed detoxification through the National Health Service at no direct cost to eligible residents, with access arranged by referral rather than self-pay. For context, private medical detox in the Manchester area typically runs from around £6,000 to £18,000 a month, though this market estimate reflects private provision elsewhere rather than the unit’s own service.
Because this is a referral-based NHS service rather than a self-pay facility, the most useful step is to ask your GP or care team how a referral to the unit works, what the assessment involves, and what support is available once a detox admission is arranged.

Chapman Barker Unit Reviews
Patients, family members who have supported a loved one through a detox admission, or professionals who have referred someone to the unit are all welcome to leave a review describing their experience.
Alongside reviews, it’s worth checking accreditation — the unit is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) — and the clinical staffing behind round-the-clock nursing care. A useful question for your GP or the referring team is exactly how the referral pathway into the unit works and what to expect on admission.
They said I had to stay for 2 weeks and I was like no thank you so I just left. Really bad security, slip through them like slime . Easy break out guys, look I found my way into a random kitchen and they say I’m… crazy????
Tret me really well I was well taken care of the dr kendra always had time for me she was lovely 🥰
My son is staying here due to some ongoing issues, the staff here are really good and the building is really good aswell and its safe and secure. Has a games room for the children including a pool table a tv room and… games consoles to keep them entertained whilst placed here. Has a sports hall available all times of the day. Parents are allowed to visit any time. The care staff here go above and beyond for your child I honestly could not fault this place. Gives daily regular meals and snacks throughout the day if needed. Has a kitchen for assisted cooking if you prefer that. Their is also an internal learning college doing arts crafts maths and English and a music studio with various instruments. It's a really good place the staff are honestly amazing.
Whoever I just spoke to on phone was amazing, helped me find my missing dad who had been admitted to them previously
The adolescent unit was good the school on site MR COIL AND MRS WINDLE CANDY I NEED YOU GEMMA NEVER FORGOTTON YOU FOR CRYING IOUT LOUD ITS HELEN LEVER .REMEMBER CLARE KELLY AS WELL ADULT MENTAL HEATH SERVICES IN BOLTON… ARE A DISGRACE
My friend died under their care
I was there years ago when it was called the mcguiness unit. It destroyed me as a person and I've lived with the consequences of my treatment there ever since so I guess they kept me alive but not a good life. Extremely… traumatic place which gives me nightmares and horrendous flashbacks to this day and still relapse.
Near m7 motor way.good for breakfast lunch and dinner
I was at junction 17 for 5 months . The care and support from the nursing staff and support workers was amazing the majority really do care . The only problems were to do with the mdt and clinical team but those… involved with the 24/7 care on the ward I can’t thank enough . There are some amazing nurses there and go above and beyond to help everyone . This placed saved my life . I’m in adults now and am doing so much better I’m eager to get out of hospital and work in mental health . Junction 17 always gets a bad rep but they really helped me . Thank you 🙏
Disgusting behaviour from you "staff". Bullying patients. Being cruel. Being extremely inappropriate. This is sickening. It's good that BBC and police are investigating. My heart goes out to the patients there.
Awful
Im going to commit infront of you so I can change the projectory of your lives
Neglected and put in danger
Most staff are nice people all bar the one who thinks it's okay to cut you off when your asking important medical questions. When you ask her not too she threatens to hang up when your simply attempting to get answers.… In capable of prompting my child to take medication. Nearly got attacked as a result. Was led to believe would be on permanent medication then not given it in error. Massive error as like I said risked my safety. Disappointing and very poor attitude of an individual member of staff. Permanent meds never given decided to change back to PRN which are never being taken. My child's health is at its worst and I'm losing them all over again. It's just a job to them I get it my childs my life! HEARTBROKEN THANKS FOR NOTHING
