About Lives Lived Well – Charters Towers
Charters Towers has a free, non-residential alcohol and drug counselling service run by not-for-profit Lives Lived Well, working from Prospect Community Services at 3 Powell Lane. The operator focuses on young people under 25 and on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and no referral is needed.
Counsellors see clients at the Powell Lane office on weekdays and travel out to Hughenden and Richmond, which puts alcohol and drug support within reach of two inland towns that have none of their own. Self-referral is by phone on 1300 727 957 or through an online enquiry, and health professionals and other services can send referrals through the same channels.

Lives Lived Well Counselling Services
Counselling is what Lives Lived Well provides in Charters Towers: one-to-one sessions for alcohol and other drug concerns, delivered at the Powell Lane office or on outreach. The service is non-residential, with no withdrawal unit, medication programme or group curriculum named for this site.
The two groups the service is built around are young people under 25 and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients, so the counselling team is set up for younger clients and for culturally safe conversations. Outreach to Hughenden and Richmond extends the same counselling rather than a different programme, and where someone needs more intensive treatment the counsellor can arrange a referral on.

Where Is Lives Lived Well?
Lives Lived Well’s Charters Towers counselling service operates from Prospect Community Services at 3 Powell Lane, Charters Towers, Queensland, postcode 4820. The office is hosted inside another community organisation’s premises, so look for the host building rather than a separate clinic sign.
The office is open Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:00pm and closed at the weekend. Bookings and enquiries go through 1300 727 957, with no referral required. Counsellors also travel to Hughenden and Richmond, so staff may be out of town on any given day, and it is worth ringing first to confirm someone will be at Powell Lane before you travel.

How Much Does Treatment at Lives Lived Well Cost?
There is no cost to attend Lives Lived Well in Charters Towers. Government funding covers the counselling, the outreach visits to Hughenden and Richmond, and the work with young people and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients, so no fee is raised at any stage.
Nothing in the research points to a private fee option or a third-party billing arrangement at this office, because the whole service is funded to be free. For families in Hughenden or Richmond the outreach visits also remove the cost of driving to Charters Towers, which the counselling team can explain when you call.

Lives Lived Well Reviews
Public reviews of the Charters Towers counselling service from around the web are limited, which is typical of a free regional service hosted inside another organisation’s building. RehabSeekers hosts reviews for Lives Lived Well in Charters Towers, and anyone who has used the service is invited to share their experience.
Feedback that does circulate online usually concerns Lives Lived Well as a statewide organisation rather than this office, and says nothing about the outreach runs to Hughenden and Richmond. An account from a young client or a family member, covering how welcoming the host building felt and how a counsellor handled a first session, would be of more use to the next caller.
I recently held a day seminar at the Prospect Wellness Hub in Church St, Charters Towers, called the Regional Brain Reset Tour for about 50 people. Gayette Burt was our contact at the Wellness Hub and she did a… wonderful job with our setup and provided first class catering for the day. The facility was great - modern, clean and a real asset to Charters Towers for anyone running an event. I returned several days later to conduct several Zoom meetings with short notice and Gayette provided a room for me with no fuss. Very grateful...and a very big thankyou. Allan Parker OAM
Very helpful, my handbag was stolen nearby and not only were the ladies very lovely and kind to my predicament, their CCTV captured one of the perpetrators and the footage was turned over to the police, which promptly… lead them to finding my handbag.
Breakfast Lunch Dinner Who needs money when your friends are with Prospect.

The ladies at Prospect are wonderful and very helpful. There are a list of other services available to people and families that need help. They offer once every 2 months a food hamper, which is amazing. Thank you ladies… for your time and appreciation.
Bec was very helpful and caring she took the time to assist, thanks again.
People have to interview in order to be given access to food support. What a deterrent for people seeking help.
