Alcohol withdrawal is medically monitored in hospital, with medication as needed, and psychological support runs from the start rather than afterwards. Partial hospitalisation, outpatient appointments, step-down places and aftercare follow the inpatient stay, and discharge planning links people to ongoing day therapy or community support groups.

Alcohol is the recorded substance focus, with co-occurring mental health conditions treated in the same programme. Individual and group therapy is recorded, with psychoeducation, mindfulness and stress reduction, yoga, art therapy and relaxation, a family programme and self-help groups. Transcranial magnetic stimulation and electroconvulsive therapy are available, a prescriber works on site, and a medical evaluation is recorded at intake. Approaches vary by programme and clinician.

How Much Does Treatment at Ramsay Clinic Gold Coast Cost?

No prices are published for the clinic. Self-funded patients and those insured overseas pay an estimated hospital cost before or on admission, and private health insurance and self-pay are the recorded routes. Australia publishes no country range for withdrawal or inpatient care, and the only published Australian day-programme figure, South Pacific Private‘s A$300 to A$500 a day, belongs to that Sydney hospital rather than to this clinic.

Request the written estimate before booking travel, particularly if you are coming from overseas. Ask what length of stay it assumes, whether psychiatric review and medication are included, and how the figure changes if the admission is extended.

Ramsay Clinic Gold Coast Reviews

On Google the site appears under its licensed name, The Southport Private Hospital, at the Spendelove Avenue address, carrying a few dozen reviews. Those reviews cover the hospital as a whole rather than the mental health programme on its own, and read as mixed but generally positive. Treat them as background.

Private hospital licensing sits with Queensland Health under the Private Health Facilities Act, which is a more meaningful marker than any rating. Ask how a psychiatrist is allocated, and what outpatient or day programme support follows an admission.

I had a gastroscope at this hospital the lack of care was in the extreme I have been left with trauma & pain on both sides of my jaw nearly a week later after this procedure so PLEASE choose another hospital where you… will receive professional care. I answered a survey and specifically explained what had happened to me I received a call to say sorry & that’s just not good enough shows that this lack of care comes from the top & I’m sure nothing will be done so please if you care about your health do yourself a favour & stay away from this nightmare of a place. There is no such thing as health care here.

4 months later I’m still traumatized by the experience I had. The pain clinic is a total mess. The doctor in charge may have experience in pain management but has clearly never experienced chronic pain. A 7 day schedule… that goes for 8 hours a day. People with chronic pain don’t sleep, require naps at random times when they can and are fatigued to the max. Starting a procedure grand at 8 and finishing at 4 is impossible. You feel like a failure before you begin and they are on Skelton staff so you can wait a long time for pain relief in a pain clinic. They don’t advise when they’ve stopped certain medications and at times had to get staff from another ward so they can administer the pain relief. The entire thing experience was a waste of time, didn’t run well and at times they didn’t give adequate relief even so they knew the medication was required. If you complain and use the Ramsey’s rule they punish you by making you wait longer. They also use delay tactics by sending in a student to ask what you need, turn off the staff bell and then a nurse will come in 15 minutes later and ask what you need again then say we just have to wait until another nurse is available. They couldn’t wait to get rid of me because if gently pull them up on their delays and behaviour because they use casual nurses who shouldn’t be nursing because their attitude stinks. Yet Pindara hospital was incredible. When I left I had surgery which is what I needed and don’t need pain relief at all but my pain in the pain center program was at its highest on a two hourly rotation and even then I could feel the pain but no one listened. They just think you want to lay in a hospital and get ploughed with drugs. It’s not the case. Sheets weren’t changed regularly and even so I had a knock gently on my door because of PTSD and getting startled they knocked twice as hard. I also had to assist an 83 year old man who advised me that he was supposed to go home a couple of days prior but hadn’t seen the doctor. I sorted that out quick smart and when he was leaving he referred to me as his guardian angel. This program is a joke for chronic pain patients. I had an anxiety attack as soon as I saw the schedule. So unachievable on so many levels. I loved the food handlers, cleaners, some nurses and particularly the beautiful lady who drives you to appointments. I don’t recommend this clinic at all. I’m still traumatised.

Dr. Sam is a truly caring doctor. He is a man of both high intelligence and genuine compassion. i would highly recommend him to anyone suffering problems. His secretary , Raechel, is very helpful and treats you like a… person -not just the next patient of the day. Dr. Sam is definitely a stand out, highly experienced specialist. His knowledge's and acumen is second to none .

Was informed that the TSPH & Rehab were first-rate ...... NOT the truth ! The Hospital is a Ramsay Health entity. The airconditioning system is total rubbish and apparently non-fixable ?!? Room temperatures in… Queensland Summer hitting 18°C ! .. at 7.00pm and all night and day. .. unbearable. Required ex-patients' clothing to keep core body temp up Corridor outside room required two big mobile air con units to keep that zone cooler .. OMG ! Nurse uses your face washer to wipe up spilt urine on floor - no clean up after or replace washer ! The Rehab was well fitted out, yet did same exercises that I had been doing in Pindara Hosp 4 days prior - routine was of little benefit. I was compelled to discharge myself after 2 days of experincing poor Hosp conditions .... never again ! 1 Star for nurse Paris who was so helpful 1 Star for Physio man "Oien" who was always helpful. .. no stars for the rest.

Attended after a stroke for rehab. Brilliant, great nursing staff, great rehab staff and meals and care were exceptional. A huge facelift from the old Alamada Hospital, it now has great facilities. The rehab staff were… very caring and patient, using the latest equipment. Now an outpatient, I am still getting superior treatment and improving daily.

I had a Really poor experience as a patient on the mental Health ward. It seems to have gone down hill recently, especially the groups. They used to have really nice and skillful people running them but now there is one… guy in particular who has no idea (he says he has trained as a psychologist then said he’s also a mental health social worker, which one is it?). plus He acts overly confident and likes to give medication advice but he’s not a doctor! And his topics are quite boring and repetitive and he can’t think on the spot. And he doesn’t like it if you ask him a question or give your own opinion. I walked out and then stopped attending his groups. I liked the other groups run by the other staff, like the sensory one and the goal setting with a nurse. I actually learnt something. Also I found out that this social worker is married to one of psychiatrists on the same ward. Is that even allowed??? I actually swapped from my doctor to her cos this same staff member kept raving on about how great she was but she wasn’t that good at all. She was really pushy. I didn’t like her style at all. My other doctor was much better. Anyway if I were you, I would choose robina or Currumbin private as their staff are much more competent and caring. And their groups will actually help you.

I have been a patient at this hospital on and off since 2015. The actual gym staff are exceptional. The hydrotherapy pool is well-equipped and terrific for those with back or knee issues. In my case, it was a back… fracture. Doctor Mancel is second to none; I met her 20 years ago. She was my mother‘s rehab doctor, and when I required rehab, I chose her. She is compassionate, thorough, easy to speak with and an excellent doctor. The nursing staff in 2A We’re right on the ball. Nothing was too hard. They were very confident and professional and made you feel welcome. The kitchen and cleaning staff did a great job. They were very friendly, and nothing was too complicated for them. Keep up the great work, Southport Private Hospital.

Recently I was discharged from Pindara Private Hospital following hip surgery and taken to Southport Private Rehab Hospital. It was a busy Saturday morning just prior to lunch. From the smooth admission via Ambulance I… never looked back. My room was large, bright and cheerful with plenty of activity happening if I left the door open. Everything pertinent to my stay had been pre arranged and all was checked in order to move forward. Rehab was ordered daily with great physiotherapists and support therapists. If you didn’t go they came to check why! Dr Wong was a daily visitor to check on everything, always with a smile. His nurses and staff were excellent. Any ‘buz’ was attended to promptly. Food was varied with tremendous staff from daily ordering, delivery and presentation. Nothing was overlooked. Altogether it was a great rehab centre for ‘InPatients’. I followed up with an ‘Out Patients’ schedule attending twice weekly. This was also second to none! Again, if I was unsure of anything or had questions all I had to do was ask! Dr Wong was again, always available and never, was a question too much. Thanks Dr Wong. At the end of therapy I was like a new woman. Self sufficient, strong and confident in my repaired body. Thank you Dr Wong and all staff associated with my terrific progress and healing. Kris Robertson

If you value your mental health avoid this facility at all cost! I value and cherish mine as it can at times be fragile and I would never ever trust these money vampires with anything so valuable again. They are a… business, they don't care about your mind, only your pocket. Staff don't communicate with each other. There's discrimination that occurs there in my opinion, and most staff seem to be under too much pressure from management to care for patients. Therefore staff are stressed and don't communicate, you fill out forms and staff dont follow them so why bother filling out forms? They keep closing wards and moving patients due to staffing costs. How are you supposed to get stable if you're moving rooms every 2 3 days because you don't have enough patients to keep ward 3 and 4 open so you move patients so that you don't have to have 2 wards fully staffed. What an absolute debabacle, I felt the place was run by John Cleese. This was almost messier than the divorce I was seeking mental respite from.

Seems lacking good communication between staff. I am only 4 days here now and number of mistakes already done. I’ll write full in a patient survey and another review. I better stay at home and have help there. I am… happy get out of this hospital. Obviously no proper communication. At 6am today nurse told me to have breakfast at the club, ok, i showered. At 6:30 another male nurse said i have to eat downstairs at the club. What time that be.? They’ll get you 7am. At 8:15 i was hungry no breakfast and a physio therapist or OT said, sorry Zita it’s not for you means i don’t have breakfast at the club, it’s a mistake. At 8:30 another lady came, shall I get you breakfast? I think you have not eaten yet. Oh my gosh. Not serious of how they care but serious to ask us to bring our card and settle our finances. Worst was last year after my knee teplacement in their sister hospital where the nurse forgot to give me my 45 days and 15 days discharge meds. Lucky nothing serious happened. It’s dangerous…..

I went to a psychiatrist and I don't even know if he's good because I paid 550 just for him to tell me to do the weaning, but the receptionist treated me like garbage. She didn't know how to use the card machine,… because I pay in debits with the cell phone app, and she wanted my physical card number, I never saw that, so she used the machine and managed to get through. And then she was waiting to reschedule the appointment and you know what she does? She gave me a card with the date and time and didn't ask if I could, I've never seen that in my life. I said but I can't on that day you didn't even ask me if I could, then she was already rude and told me the doctor asked for that day and it's the only time, so I said calm down because she was upset, I'm patient, I have a life out here so you need to ask if I can on the day and at the time you want to make an appointment. Then I said calm down, calm down then she threw it on me saying that she was going to expel me from the office since she was treating me badly. She works in a clinic for people with depression, anxiety and still treats a patient that way? I left the office worse than I entered. Ramsay Clinic.

These people save lives: from the psychiatrists & psychologists to the nurses & exercise physiologist. Everyone is extremely kind & genuine. Dr AJ is the best. I love that they're don't focus on a medicated model… primarily but provide social, emotional support + education, group therapy, art, exercise & hydrotherapy. They listen & give you the space to be yourself & be heard. Excellent facility. If I could make 1 recommendation, it would be more wholegrains over refined bread/crackers/rice. Anyone who goes for mental health rehab is feeling lousy & the weight of the world. But you learn real skills that serve you for the rest of your life if you're willing to apply yourself to the process.

My 86yo dad had a stroke, he came into the rehab hospital unable to move and barely spoke. My dad also has dementia and could not communicate well, but they found ways to engage with him and got him to do things… himself. Thanks to the incredible team of nurses, physios, OT, speech pathologist and Dr my dad will be leaving nearly like his old self. Everyone was so accommodating, caring and above all happy. Cannot thank them enough for all that they’ve done.

Thanks guys for nothing! Too worried about the psychiatrist “reputation” and taking the money but when presented with someone who has never experienced an EXTREME amount of anxiety and not even talk about changing meds?… Kick them out instead putting them in the “too hard basket”? Beware people. It’s their way only as soon as you walk in those doors. They refuse to listen and don’t even bother helping someone who is going through the worst anxiety and depression of their whole life! Good one Southport private!
