About Sunrise Way – Toowoomba
Sunrise Way is a residential alcohol and other drug rehabilitation service in Toowoomba, Queensland, set up in 2014 with community and philanthropic support. Sunrise Way Rehabilitation Ltd runs a therapeutic community model for adults aged 18 and over, and no referral is needed to enquire.
Two programmes are described: a 12-week stay at ‘The Range’ on Tourist Road, and a six-month programme at a separate acreage property. Each resident is given a case worker, and treatment combines individual and group counselling with access to AA, NA and SMART Recovery meetings and life-skills support. Continuing care counselling and transition housing are available to graduates. The way in is the initial enquiry form on the Sunrise Way website, with a GP, an Aboriginal Health Worker or the individual themselves able to start the process.

Sunrise Way Alcohol and Drug Services
Sunrise Way covers residential rehabilitation on a therapeutic community model, transition housing and continuing care. The Toowoomba programme runs 12 weeks at ‘The Range’, with a longer six-month option at a separate acreage property, and each resident is assigned a case worker for the duration.
Therapeutic work blends individual and group counselling, case management, mindfulness and peer support, with 12-step meetings through AA and NA and SMART Recovery available to residents. Life-skills support runs alongside. Intake starts with an assessment after the enquiry form is submitted. Graduates can move into transition housing with continuing care counselling attached. Withdrawal management, medical staffing and medications are not listed for Sunrise Way, so anyone needing detox should ask where that happens first.

How Much Does Treatment at Sunrise Way Cost?
Published prices for Sunrise Way weren’t found, and no funding arrangement is listed for the Toowoomba programmes, so whether any subsidy applies is unclear. Residential rehabilitation in Australia typically costs A$10,000 to A$30,000 a month. Contact Sunrise Way for pricing tailored to your needs and circumstances.
Two programme lengths mean two likely price points, so ask about both the 12-week stay and the six-month option at the acreage property, and about what the fee covers: accommodation, meals, counselling and the case worker. Transition housing for graduates is part of the continuing support rather than something costed. Raise private health insurance, Medicare and any instalment arrangements on the same call, since none of these is listed.

Sunrise Way Reviews
Reviews of Sunrise Way from around the web are limited, which is common for a regional service that grew out of local community and philanthropic backing rather than a national group. RehabSeekers hosts reviews for Sunrise Way, and former residents or their families are welcome to share their experience.
For anyone weighing up Toowoomba, the questions worth hearing answered first-hand are how the 12-week programme at ‘The Range’ differed from the six-month acreage option, how much the case worker relationship mattered, whether the AA, NA and SMART Recovery meetings were central or optional, and how transition housing worked for those who finished.
Is a great rehab, I did the 6month program and it changed my life for the best. The staff are incredible!!
1 year ago i was sitting in a jail cell i lost my family and tried to kill myself i was beyond broken sunrise way gave me a safe place to get clean and take the time to deal with my mental health they not only looked… after me physically but also emotionally and mentally sunrise way did for me what no one else could im now 11 months 15 days clean and living my best life with my family back in my life. Rehab is rehab its an instutition its not glamorous but it was far better then what lied ahead for me jail or death now i get to work with the rehab and new comers and help the still suffering addict i was also given support after i left and still supported now sunrise saved my life and im forever greatful to them the staff all understood and loved me when i didnt love myself
Would 100% Recommend. I came from a life of crime, drug addiction and absolute pain and heartbreak. My life has changed entirely since attending the 6 month program here. This place has literally saved my life I have… been able to get housing, employment, relationships with my family back and so much more. The staff there are amazing and have always been. Thank you Sunrise way for showing me how to live a life clean and sober!!
I have just spent 2 weeks and 4 days with Sunrise Way. I am not only an alcholic but i suffer depression. Naturaly it is going to take time to get to a point that you are going to be feeling a lot better. There's going… to be a lot of ups and downs. No time for that at this concentration camp though. Doesn't matter how you are feeling, you are expected to get up and do the daily ritual that is planned out. Chores to be done. Very hard, when you're head is throbbing, your body is aching and you have no appetite and your mental health is playing havoc with you. I spent a day in bed sleeping, just physically and mentally exhausted. Absolute no support provided at all. Just nasty abusive staff. I was discharged the next day. I was told I had been abusive and violent. This was also told to my family and friends when they called there. All lies. I am absolutely gutted. There is so much more to this incident to be told and other things I witnessed and went through. But it would just take to long and I am still feeling very unwell. I am more broken then when I went in there. I was dropped at a MacDonalds somewhere in Toowoomba, all my luggage, with a flat phone and they had not given me back my charger. I was so scared I knew nobody or the town and had to try and find my way home. It was all a night mare. Thankfully I have some other organisations in touch with me and hopefully they can help me find a better place that offers kindness and care with there support. This organisation has also told me they never recommend Sunrise Way to anybody. And this is a huge organisation that plays a massive role in mental health and alcohol and drug addiction. Sunrise Way needs to be fully investigated. Money im sure plays a big part in there underlying motives. Don't risk your recovery with these dodgy, unsupportive, unprofessional people. Practice Watch You Preach. No to Sunrise Way.
I done the 6 month program before sunrise I was skattered on the ice doing crime during my time a sunrise it changed my whole point of view on life they didn’t only teach me how to cope with cravings ect they taught me… how to live life again I never had structure in my life till I got to sunrise way, I just clicked over 18months off the drugs working full time, it’s the best 18 months in my whole life if you wanna have a shot at recovery I highly recommend sunrise way, I’ll always be thankful for the sunrise crew much love ❤️
Treated my best friend like absolute dirt. Kept discounting his mental disabilities and alcohol addiction. Purely deplorable.
They’re incredibly professional and switched on having a loved one in there knowing that they’re in such great hands is such a relief.
I have stage 3 liver chirosos. This past three weeks I had been in and out of hospital for some very serious liver problems. I spoke and texted with the CEO of Sunrise - he advised me that he would be able to get me… into the program "immediately", however had to do a hospital detox first. Despite how sick I was I told him that I didn't think the Toowoomba hospital would take me on. I mentioned that I had a self harm history. He said, "great - self harm and they will have to take you in under some kind of order. I followed his instructions and was in the mental health unit for one night then transferred to another unit. The staff @ Toowoomba hospital were absolutely gobsmacked that Sunrise encouraged me to self harm to "speed up the process ". This is all legally documented. Here's where the catch is. Sunrise require almost a $2000 "administration fee " before they even get the ball rolling. I can understand them wanting to take the majority of your Centrelink benefits because they need to make profit of people's misery to keep there overheads in a good way. I was feeling really positive when in hospital, thinking that I would be able to get admitted as per the CEO's promise over the phone, when I was literally vommiting up blood where I was staying. When in hospital I was promised a call back from the Sunrise team for an assessment - that never happened. I called sunrise from my hospital bed, and they advised me the most important thing was the "administration fee" payable. The fact that they treat vulnerable people like this to make money is deplorable. Thank God I am now going into a (public, not private) rehab is absolutely excellent. They don't require thousands of dollars for what they label as an "adminstration fee" is admirable. My advice - be wary when dealing with Sunrise Way - especially if you are extremely sick because they will try take advantage of you. If you have to, look at interstate options like I did - you won't need to pay thousands of dollars before they even lift a finger, like @ Sunrise Way. Yes, they will probably take the majority of your benefits but this is understandable. I just wanted to put this out there for cases like myself because they do their utmost to take financial advantage when you're most vulnerable. Just a thought 🤔🤔🤔
My family member attended Sunrise Way Rehabilitation for the residential and transition programs - approximately over a 12-month period. Staff were accessible, empathetic, motivating clients while also remaining… committed to the goal of rehabilitation within a community environment. Residents were very supportive of each other offering encouragement and friendship. Family support was offered during the programs and feel comfortable with the knowledge that in the event of relapse a supportive group is available. I am so grateful to the management and the team at Sunrise Way.
A recent visit to this facility was impressive! It offers a great program of recovery in a supportive community. It is spacious in a lovely location and very well run. Great recovery there!
Terrible place wouldn't send my worst enemy here
They dump all the good staff and keep the dregs. Rehab = playing cards against humanity, and generally doing chores for $750 a week. Absolute joke of a rehab who talk more than doing. Get ready when you are drink/drug… free after 3 months because you are then classed as P2 and expected to run multiple classes a week. Absolute garbage. Got put in lock down twice for Covid without any 'classes' - which should be referred to as joke sessions and still charged the full pride. Do yourself a favor and find a dry house to live in, will be about $500 wk cheaper and do the same job.
I Would Do Anything to Get into Rehab, THIS Rehab! Getting in to Sunrise Way Would mean the World to me, my Very Life!
Great rehabilitation program for people that are facing addiction issues
Awesome program..... It really does change your life!!!!
