ZEDO – Odjel za detoksikaciju Detox and Rehab Services

ZEDO is a public cantonal institution in Zenica, operating on the grounds of Zenica Cantonal Hospital, running outpatient treatment alongside an inpatient detoxification unit in place since 2008, prevention and counselling, rehabilitation and resocialisation support, and treatment for behavioural addictions.

Care is described as multidisciplinary, combining medical treatment with psychotherapy, group and individual therapy, and addiction counselling. Substitution therapy is recorded for opioid dependence, alongside alcohol treatment, smoking cessation, and support for behavioural addictions such as gambling, internet use, gaming and social media. As approaches vary by programme and by what a person actually needs, it’s worth confirming directly which parts of ZEDO’s care would apply; treatment here is voluntary except where a court has ordered it.

How Much Does Treatment at ZEDO Cost?

General market figures for detoxification and outpatient-style addiction care in Zenica run to roughly 6,800KM–22,000KM (£3,000–£9,500) and 1,400KM–4,500KM (£600–£2,000) respectively; these are area estimates rather than ZEDO’s own rates. As a state-funded cantonal institution, ZEDO’s own services are more likely to be accessed through the Zenica-Doboj Canton health insurance fund, with coverage depending on residency and insurance status rather than being available regardless of where someone lives.

Contact ZEDO directly, or ask a referring GP or service, how a referral to the outpatient clinic or the inpatient detoxification unit works, what the insurance fund does and doesn’t cover, and what happens if a stay needs to run longer than first planned.

ZEDO – Odjel za detoksikaciju Reviews

Patients who have been through ZEDO’s outpatient or detoxification programmes, family members who have supported someone through treatment there, or professionals who have referred into the service are encouraged to add their perspective for others considering it.

Beyond reviews, it’s worth checking how the referral and admission process works, what a typical stay in the detoxification unit involves, and how rehabilitation and resocialisation support continues afterwards. A good question to ask directly is what continuity of care looks like once someone moves from detoxification into outpatient follow-up.

The staff is polite, calm, patient and understanding, and the cleanliness is as good as it can be given that the facility is old, this applies to the neurology department.

I expect much more from a healthcare institution that deals with children – expertise, a thorough examination, clear communication, and above all, a serious attitude towards the little patient and worried parents. One… big zero for Pediatrics.

Dr. Irfan Leto, a doctor who is truly rare to meet... First of all, a top diagnostician, attentive, thorough and extremely dedicated to his job. I would especially highlight his friendliness, accessibility and… professionalism. Always ready to listen, explain and help. When top knowledge, experience and humanity come together, you get a doctor you truly trust. All recommendations from the bottom of my heart!!!

We were admitted within 5-10 minutes on a Saturday, after arriving from Jajce, the doctor and nurses in the pediatrics department were very approachable and kind, to be commended!

Shame, my grandmother is lying in the infectious disease ward, please bring water to the woman, they don't have it when the gentlemen have to watch the game. Today they came to visit, again we ask for someone to give… her water, the hygienist says they can't, they have work now, after 5 minutes we pass the technicians all sitting together smoking in front of the hospital. SHAME ON YOU FOR WHAT YOU ARE DOING!

If I could, I would give it a zero. My father was admitted in the afternoon. He passed away suddenly. We were not informed about it at all. It was only when I came to visit that I received the information. The doctor… did not want to tell us the news at all, but my mother and I realized that it was a death. He was completely ignorant of the patient's condition, the therapy given because, as he says, "it was not his shift". When I asked why they did not inform us (more than 6-7 hours have passed since the death was confirmed), he said that it was between shifts, the doctor's consultation, etc. When I asked why they did not determine severe anemia earlier and how come he should have just received blood and returned home, I got the answer "that's what happens to older people". I must also mention how ugly the behavior of the security guard was, who went after us like thieves for not informing us that the visits were at 1 pm, not 2 pm, as he claimed. Not to mention the condition of the infrastructure of the hospitals, which look like former "abandoned hotels". In Varrs, one expression applies to that institution, and that is "No one has returned alive from Zenica". Unfortunately, I also felt it on my skin.

My mother was admitted to the traumatology department in the afternoon. Dr. Kovačević and other staff performed the surgery in the department. The same evening, before midnight, she underwent surgery for a knee… fracture. Great effort by the entire staff in the Traumatology department, thank you, KB Zenica. .

Very bad experience in the maternity ward and urology department I was greeted in the delivery room by a grumpy older midwife who, after several attempts, still couldn't insert a catheter. More staff came and gathered… around me and they tried to insert a catheter several times. It hurt terribly and they started yelling at me. The doctor was also rude. After removing the catheter, I couldn't urinate for about three days and they made me urinate into the catheter. No one did anything to find out what was wrong with me. Also, some of the nurses are terrible, but there were also some really nice nurses and one technician. All praise for them. A big compliment to Dr. Amra Gino, a wonderful doctor. Before entering the delivery room, I was shaking. It was my first birth. I was a little scared. She encouraged me and even hugged me to calm me down. The anesthesiologist who put me to sleep was also a pleasant person. I think that by inserting the catheter several times, they were messing with my urethra. because later I went to a private urologist once and he was surprised by their incompetence I also have a bad experience with urology, I came for a checkup while I was pregnant, I had a stone because in high school I discovered that I had two stones and one morning I had an attack it hurt terribly the doctor couldn't see anything on the ultrasound and sent me to gynecology and the next day I urinated the stone How come in high school the doctor could see the stones on the ultrasound and he couldn't? The second time I went to urology and when I told the doctor that in Visoko they discovered both stones and sand he said what did you come here for, go there later he typed something on the computer and I showed him the stones that I had passed and he didn't even want to look at it I have trauma from maternity so I never want to give birth again in Zvot in Zenica there is no way I'm going and urology is a disaster next time if I go to a urologist I would rather pay a good doctor than go down there

Shame and shame on all of them. My grandmother was lying in the hospital, her hip was broken, they didn't want to operate until €150 was put in their pockets, so the nurses were given €20 each to take better care of my… grandmother, because they didn't work, she had a shirt with stains on it from two days ago. This morning they wanted to discharge her without anyone knowing because she had a bladder infection, so they spontaneously decided to leave her in the hospital anyway. The UNPROFESSIONALISM of our hospitals is pathetic. 2 hours after they wanted to discharge her, she passed away. And what about the money they gave? And the blood we collected will be pumped into their relatives through the loop. May God bless everyone who got poisoned by our donated blood that we collected for her, and may God grant you that €150 for medicine that you needed and didn't have. Shame and shame on you, and God and Allah and everything.

All praise for nurse Azra (if I heard correctly over the phone) from the Anesthesiology Clinic, very kind and professional approach. In the phone conversation I received all the necessary information, and what she could… not say with certainty she first checked with the doctor and then quickly reported. For someone who spent 20 years in the private healthcare sector and where kindness is at the forefront, this is something that should really be praised. I hope that in every department this kind of attitude towards patients will be something that is taken for granted.

For the medical staff, FUJ, in short, women who came to give birth suffer psychological abuse and insults, and soon it will be physical... I have no comment.

Disaster magnetic resonance information desk Very rude blonde lady at the reception Arrogant and unprofessional behavior. The problem is to check if the finding is complete. It's not her job as she claims. Because of… such, the system is such a nuisance. I know that no one from your superiors will look at this review, but you have no one else to complain to. Poor and sad for such an institution.
