About Carbal Addiction Support Services (CASS) – Toowoomba
Carbal Addiction Support Services is the alcohol and other drug arm of Carbal Medical Services, an Aboriginal medical service in Toowoomba established in 2002. CASS offers free, yarning-based counselling and case management to anyone experiencing addiction, working from a harm-reduction position rather than insisting on abstinence.
Practical help runs alongside the counselling: support with appointments, coordination between services, and assistance navigating the legal system, though not legal advice. The team supports GP-assisted withdrawal at home, community-based rehabilitation, transport to external detox units and to the opioid replacement programme, and follow-up once a rehabilitation programme ends. Referrals are open, from yourself, family, a doctor or an agency, and no waitlist is noted.

Carbal Addiction Support Services (CASS) Alcohol and Drug Services
Carbal Addiction Support Services covers four levels of care from its Ruthven Street base: outpatient counselling, withdrawal supported at home by a GP, outreach into the community, and aftercare once a rehabilitation programme finishes. Alcohol, cannabis, polysubstance use and gambling are all within scope.
Counselling is delivered through yarning, with case management and relapse prevention listed alongside it, and an intake assessment starts the process. Clients aged 12 to 17 as well as adults are supported. Transport can be arranged to external withdrawal units and to the opioid replacement programme, interpreters are available, and the team helps clients deal with legal processes without giving legal advice.

How Much Does Treatment at Carbal Addiction Support Services (CASS) Cost?
Carbal Addiction Support Services is free. As part of an Aboriginal medical service funded to deliver addiction support, CASS charges nothing for counselling, case management, outreach, help with appointments or the follow-up offered to clients once a rehabilitation programme comes to an end.
Transport to external withdrawal units and to the opioid replacement programme is arranged by the team, which removes a cost that often stops a client from reaching treatment, and interpreters are provided at no charge. No private pay rate, Medicare gap, NDIS plan or WorkCover claim is listed. Ring the service to check what is included.

Carbal Addiction Support Services (CASS) Reviews
Reviews of Carbal Addiction Support Services from around the web are limited, and comment about Carbal more generally tends to describe the medical centre rather than the addiction team. RehabSeekers hosts reviews for CASS, and anyone who has worked with the Toowoomba service is welcome to add one.
The most useful accounts describe the things that are hard to find out in advance: what yarning-based counselling actually felt like, how the home withdrawal was supported by the GP, whether transport to an external unit was reliable, and how follow-up worked after a rehabilitation programme. Family members are welcome to review as well.
Huge thankyou to beautiful support worker Katlin for helping me ..have a social life and have a life with a dissability even taking me out to my pony..To assisting with NDIS appt's and helping me travel with my… assistance dog..My life prior to moving to Toowoomba was so insular! Now thanks to Carbal and Katlin, I'm like a butterfly spreading my wings ...You have made me realise there is life with dissability outside of my work. Before I would have to self fund my trips out and if I couldn't work due to ill health. I'd have to stay home and I just accepted that. I thought that was just life Thankyou once again to Carbal for giving indigenous women living with a dissability the oppurtunity to be part of the community and social circles ...#empowering By the way if Katlin boss is reading this please give her a pay raise xoxoo.....She's an incredible assett to carbal :) Warm regards Becky
