About Riverlands
Riverlands is an inpatient withdrawal management unit at Lismore in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales, operated by Northern NSW Local Health District. The unit admits adults of any gender for medically supported withdrawal from alcohol and other drugs, and the admissions line is (02) 6620 7608.
As a public service funded through NSW Health, Riverlands charges the client nothing for an admission. The unit publishes little else: length of stay, the substances it manages withdrawal from, the therapies offered, assessment arrangements and what treatment follows discharge are all unstated. Health professionals and individuals seeking help can work through the admissions number to find out how entry is assessed and when a place might be free.

Riverlands Alcohol and Drug Services
Riverlands offers a single level of care: inpatient withdrawal management for adult men and women. Admission is residential, so a client stays at the Lismore unit while withdrawal is supported rather than travelling in for appointments, with care delivered inside the public health system of northern New South Wales.
Substances treated, medications used, counselling, group therapy, assessment and testing arrangements and aftercare are not stated for Riverlands. That gap reflects what is published rather than what staff provide, so the admissions team is the place to ask which withdrawal the unit can manage safely and which service takes over longer-term treatment afterwards.

How Much Does Treatment at Riverlands Cost?
Treatment at Riverlands is free. The withdrawal unit is funded through NSW Health and run by Northern NSW Local Health District, so an admission sits inside the public hospital system and there is no charge to the client for the stay, the nursing care or the withdrawal programme.
Private health insurance is not needed for an admission, and no private pay rate, Medicare arrangement, NDIS or WorkCover pathway is stated for the unit. Travel to Lismore and personal items for a short stay are what to plan for. The admissions team can explain what is covered before you arrive.

Riverlands Reviews
Reviews of Riverlands from around the web are limited, which is typical of public withdrawal units run by a local health district rather than marketed as private clinics. RehabSeekers hosts reviews for this unit, and anyone who has been admitted at Lismore is welcome to describe their experience.
With so little published about the programme, first-hand accounts do a lot of work. How long the wait for a place was, how staff managed the withdrawal period and what treatment was arranged on discharge are exactly the details that help you or someone you care about decide whether to ring the admissions line.
Tried to get an appointment to go onto the Suboxone/ Buvidol treatment. They said it wasn't possible without a referral and the intake period would take about 6 weeks. I ended up in the emergency department of Lismore… base hospital due to acute withdrawal symptoms. The hospital Gp refered me to Riverland OTP. I called the number I was given, got no answer so I left a message so they could return the call. Nobody called. I called again no answer.if I could give Negative star rating I would.
Best detox centre. Very supportive. 5/5
Absolutely brilliant place for detoxing. The nursing staff are so kind and caring and just all round awesome. Thankyou for your services
Fortunately most staff are understanding when detoxing. However, there is a total lack of communication between Dr and nursing staff when it comes to charting medications. Medications essential for withdrawal are… reduced far too quickly. Clearly this creates more anxiety and stress, resulting in wanting to pursue the addiction upon discharge. Far too dangerous and achieves the opposite for those trying to commit to a sober and fulfilling life.
Personal Connection with staff and treatment program has been universal for me in my future approach
We are so lucky to have Roland in our community. 5☆
Marvellous & very understanding staff with very good Drs. Exceĺlent faculties . You can have your ph with you but cannot have the charger in your room as it's a fire hazard,, plenty of charging stations available.. No… tv in the rooms but you have tvs in the dining and lounge room. I cannot rate this place highly enough. Thankyou. 10 out of 10.
I'm on the maintenance program and am having problems with the staff not doing their job properly. I rang a week ago to organise a new script and I arrived at my pharmacy to get dosed and they inform my script hadn't… been received. I gave staff at Riverlands a whole week to organise and they couldn't even achieve it. Disgusting how they treat us second rate citizens...
I went not knowing what to expect..the staff were all so amazing, helpful, understanding, the rules were straight forward,it was quite.the only thing negative feedback I have is there needs to be some kind of gym… equipment.and TVs in your room other than that 10 out of 10 thank you tam
Failed the program as too many rules I get a great doctor that I can't work with and told how great everything is
Very professional nursing staff, in all fields of health, rehabilitation & future directions for patients
I don't like that they don't actually listen to you about Suboxone and the neurophysical issues. Otherwise.. they are very attentive and helpful with a lot of medicines.. however staff who aren't qualified to explain… levels of medical interactions does really need to be looked into. I was slandered by a nurse who didn't like my wanting to leave. I found an alternative to Suboxone, returned to work and continued being abstinent after leaving. I was feeling an addictive nature to my Suboxone and was having adverse issues. This is actually illegal. If you feel confronted and somewhat at a loss, set up to fail or feel unsafe. Report it to an authority. It's why our facilitators stereotype and how appropriate methods of treatment are overlooked.
Good nurses and doctors. Very good practice!!
Riverlands drug & Alcohol service is a very good clinic, the staff are helpful and really care about getting you back on you feet & helping you succeed at integrating you back into the community
