Townsville AOD Services Detox and Rehab Services
Townsville AOD Services runs three levels of care: a 10-bed withdrawal unit, a three-month residential rehabilitation programme with 52 beds, and aftercare. Withdrawal suits mild to moderate presentations and takes around seven days; case management and art and music therapy are the therapies listed.
Transitional support after treatment carries case management, education and referral, so the three months is not meant to end abruptly. Before admission, community-based pre-treatment support is available. Specific substances, medications, dual diagnosis support and assessment procedures are not listed, so ask what the withdrawal unit can safely manage and who is referred elsewhere.

Townsville AOD Services Reviews
Reviews of Townsville AOD Services from around the web are limited, and what does appear tends to describe The Salvation Army as a whole rather than this particular service. RehabSeekers hosts reviews for it, so anyone who has been through withdrawal or the three-month programme can share their experience.
A 52-place programme has a particular rhythm, and accounts of it help: how the groups held together, whether the pool, recreation hall and art and craft sessions filled the week, and how transitional support worked once the three months ended. Family perspectives are just as welcome.
I engaged with this service 2 months ago because of my problem drinking. Ive been put aside and contacted occasionally to reschedule my appointment and no help has been received. In the mean time if lost my employment… and my marriage and still not received any form of help. There is a duty of care that has been lost in this system and for me personally lost faith
Great service if you show staff the respect they deserve, and they will treat you in kind. Be honest about your use and if you slip up and they will help you through. Majority of the support staff & doctors are caring… and want what's best for you and will be help you with your recovery journey. There can be some wait times if you are just starting your recovery as there isn't as many staff as they need, and that's not their fault. But if you wait for your induction and do the work they set out you can lead a normal life again, I've been on the program for over 4 years now and have no complaints. Anyone who wants to live a normal life free from opiates without having to wonder about the damage you're doing to yourself and loved ones I implore you to visit AODS North Ward. It's been the best thing I have ever done with my life and I'd say I would not be living at all without their help. Ignore negative reviews you see here about staff not being helpful. I just want to reiterate that you get what you give and if you turn up being disrespectful and rude it will ruin your chances of getting the help you need.
Absolutely a joke, after being so frustrated and admitted to hospital I was given a pamphlet about there so called “services” I rang them to only be told go home have a drink to stop the withdrawals as atods have a 6 -… 8 week wait list useless for someone battling and reaching out for help
Repeditive ,always little support
I have taken my friend here as they wanted help too turn around their lives problem was & is they refuse to help if you are having a bad reaction to the suboxone like tongue swollen no fluids or food kept down and need… to be swapped to other medications. They refuse to try something else so my friend could continue recovery, why?
Five stars for black humor!
