Veterans Affairs Medical Center – Palm Beach Gardens Detox and Rehab Services

The provision listed at Veterans Affairs Medical Center – Palm Beach Gardens is residential treatment and intensive outpatient. Day programming is scheduled, with evenings spent at home. The right level of care is a clinical judgement rather than a preference, and an assessment should produce a defined answer.

I spend tonight in the ER and had to note that my experience was less stressful due to the professionalism, kindness, and friendliness of the following people: 🏆Ady the CT tech - Awesome! 🏆Marco the ER tech - Awesome!… 🏆Meghan ER Nurse - Awesome!

As a US Navy Veteran and Healthcare professional, I am able to recognize customer service Excellence when I see it. My most recent visit to the ER was nothing short of amazing. Dr. Summers exhibited care, compassion,… and consideration as he assessed my symptoms with medical expertise and empathy, while asking pointed questions to refine his diagnosis and treatment for positive outcomes. Nurse Megan was vigilant about the care she rendered to me. Consistently assessing and using nursing judgement, skill, and shared decision making as well as education to ensure my understanding and acceptance of any treatment measures that were initiated. By far, this encounter was the best ever because of a dynamic pair of Healthcare professionals that are serious about their jobs. Thank you!!

I went to the VA for my very first dental appt with them. The dentist did all the intake work, xrays and asked about past health. I talked about surgeries I had in 2025 and early 2026. The dentist then sets up an appt… for me to come in for my cleaning. I show up on time and the first thing I am asked is if I took my amoxicillin 1 hour before the appt. Huh? This was never discussed with me. The dentist says he will have that discussion with the intake dentist and was not happy. He reviews the chart and sees no amoxicillin was ordered when it needed to be. So they reschedule me a week out and send me home. They tell me that amoxicillin will arrive before the appt and to take it 1 hour before. The day of the appt arrives and guess what? No amoxicillin. I call in and they say to come in earlier and they will give me one on site an hour before my appt. As I have work commitments, I cannot just come in when they mess up, so they push my appt out to OCTOBER!!! Yesterday, after almost 3 weeks after my appointment the amoxicillin arrives... As I am transitioning my medical and dental care to the VA I am highly concerned about the accountability / attention to detail and general knowledge of the staff. I also had a community care order that was placed three weeks ago...never heard a peep about it and am having to chase that down as well. I can't imagine coming here for a major surgery...having to chase and fight for basic health / dental care is a shame. To make matters worse, I called one of my best friends, who is a dentist in North Carolina. He laughed and said studies have shown it doesn't matter if you take amoxicillin 1 hour before or right at the appointment time. He also said it's reserved for patients with heart issues, which I do not have. He also pointed out that The American Dental Association does not list my condition as a condition requiring preventive antibiotics prior to dental care... Who are these dentists? Bottom of their class or what? I'm heavily rethinking my decision to move any healthcare to the VA and might just stick with private insurance. I'm about to call VA Patient Advocacy for the second time. I left a VM yesterday morning but haven't heard back. *update* VA patient advocacy reached out to me aged my second VM. They smacked someone around as suddenly my appointment was moved up and all went well. The hygienist was super nice and the rooms were updated, clean and had modern technology (from what I could tell). Fingers crossed for future appointments…

The ER was great today went in with severe lower back spasms to the point i was nauseous and sweating bad, then everything went down hill. First got to ER they asked last name and DOB last 4 SS then scanned me in system… and put a wrist band on my wrist with all the same info that is in a Military ID card to Identify someone. Once the Dr saw me and did the Xrays he prescribed me some medicine for the pain, went down to the Pharmacy the lady scanned my worst band. Once the medicine was ready they told me I couldnt get my prescriptions cause I didnt have ID but the wrist band was OK for everything in the ER and Xrays, the wrist band was not good for my prescriptions. Makes no sense the lady tried saying anyone can come in and say they are me but the wrist band has my name DOB and a photo of me lol. Last week when I went to same ER after hours a person brought my prescription to me in the ER waiting here after being released. So how does it work for him to give me my medicine but I can pick it up at the pharmacy? Now I have to go 2 days with pain and prescription. GREAT SERVICE

I went with my husband to his psych appointment and the doctor asked to speak with me separately about his mental health issues. I broke down when disclosing all of the abuse he puts me through and all she had to say… was thanks for supporting a veteran. What a joke. Everybody wants to help veterans, but who helps the spouses these psychos destroy?

My surgery which was rescheduled by the doctor once already, got rescheduled AGAIN and they didn’t even notify me about it. I was under the assumption we were all set for tomorrow, June 3rd, which is what I was last… told by the doctor. I called today to confirm since I haven’t heard anything and the woman I spoke with said there was no surgery scheduled for tomorrow and it’s now scheduled for the 16th. The person who was driving me home from the surgery already took tomorrow off work and now isn’t going to need to take another day because of this. Terrible communication.

Went to the E.R. for torn meniscus and the staff was terrible ... treated me like I was a piece of shit... completely ignored me ... had to ask for updates 5 times.. the doctor was very condescending and belittling...… she got very defensive when I explained to her that I was frustrated because of the lack of communication from her and her staff... left untreated!!! Horrible E.R patient care!!

I love my VA but recently I was dumbfounded to discover that a nurse who inappropriately did the unthinkable when I was a patient on 3C with a 103 Temperature fighting for my life with MRSA. I couldn't defend myself I… could only endure the act. It was reported and there was an investigation and the FBI came to my house. There was a deposition and I cried on my support advocate uncontrollable. He was in the Reserve at the time and they put him on nights and he was my nurse. How about this, since the incident I had to go to Port St. Lucie for my mental health and substance abuse crisis. Coral Shores while he was allowed not only keep his job but he tarnished my trust made me feel damaged. I was ransferred to ICU from 3C and he took advantage of me at my most critical hour,as Iay near death. I even remembering asking my nurse " am I dying? " Recently I finished a 45 day program addressing my mental health and substance abuse following a suicidal crisis. At the Domacillary all women sleep on the first floor. As I entered the living area after breakfast, I looked to my left, and he was there. Again my nurse, why punish me and not him? I am the one who had to swallow it. The VA just held a mental health and substance abuse fair, justifiably so, to create awareness of the challenges I have faced being ignored, profiled and societal stereotypes and I walk with the scarlet letter of shame and he gets a second chance. I reported the incident when I had recovered enough to address it. I identified the male nurse in a photo line up and I am brutally honest and transparent. I am sick and tired of those who willfully mistreat and abuse me spiritually, psychologically, financially, mentally, looked what happened to me. I have been so cruelly hurt through no fault of my own yet I am treated as the bad guy and the good ones walk free. Now you understand why society has such a low opinion of us. To them or lives have no meaning or value. He should pay me for still having a job in substance abuse and mental illness after pulling this stunt. He was assigned to guard my condition and by working overnight nobody saw him and they didn't believe me. That's why people hesitate to get help; ĺook at the paid help did to me. I forgave him but he turned his back and walked away without acknowledgement or apology. LOVE

I was at the VA in west Palm beach Friday March 27 2026. I want to review a Nurse that assisted my husband George Maniatty in the ER. Megan was extremely concerned about his care. She called and got him another… appointment for his care. She did go the extra mile for him. Pleasant, smiling and helpful. Megan had new scripts delivered to the ER so he didn’t have walk. Megan is a keeper at the VA ER HOSPITAL.
