Conifer Park Inc – Schenectady (79 Glenridge Road) Detox and Rehab Services

Conifer Park Inc – Schenectady (79 Glenridge Road) carries a listing for detox and residential treatment. Withdrawal is managed under clinical observation before other treatment begins, which matters most in the first seventy-two hours for alcohol and benzodiazepines. Which of these is appropriate depends on an assessment, not on what sounds manageable at the time.

Only one side is on record here, so ask directly if both are needed. Medication and talking treatment run together under clinical oversight. It is worth asking how many hours a week the program runs, because that decides whether it fits around everything else.

Would never go there. They are WAY understaffed even though some of the staff care I actually think jail would be better if it had rehab and I just came from jail. Went to get discharged and they gave all of my… belongings tlincludong my phone, to a person discharged before me. That persone stole money from my phone and all my belongings conifer just keeps pushing me off

This place honestly saved my life. Unfortunately I've been to multiple places and if it weren't for this facility and it's employees I wouldn't have my sobriety or be able to be there for my child the way I need to be.… And a HUGE thank you to Vlad and Charlemain for making me feel comfortable through a tough time in my life I wouldn't have been able to do it without you.

It’s did the job of detoxing me off my DOC just because I was kinda locked up and couldn’t get my hands on anything. It was absolute torture! I know 7OH is a relatively new drug on the market but as a detox center they… really need to educate the staff on it and how to detox someone off of it. They let me struggle the whole time I was there. I paced up and down the one hallway both nights I was there without any sleep and all day for 3 days. Now when I say struggle I really mean that. I felt like dying would have been a better choice then going here!!! I’ve detox and had withdrawals off many opioids and alcohol many times before but nothing like this. This was the worst withdrawals I’ve ever gone through and they didn’t know what 7OH really was or how to treat it. I also wasn’t the only one there detoxing off 7OH. 3 other guys that stuck around with me and they had 2 other guys coming the same night leave within a few hours because they weren’t receiving any help from the staff. Most of the staff showed zero empathy for what we go through as addicts. And going 12 hours over night without any medication is pure torture! There is one saving grace and I wish I was with it enough to get his full name but Paul, I’m pretty sure that’s his name, actually listened to me and did his best to ease the pain of withdrawals. I believe he’s some sort of detox director or something. He had an office right on the detox floor and had an open door policy. If it wasn’t for him I would have left in the first 24hrs. He deserves 5 stars but because of everything else I give Conifer Park 2 stars. Conifer park and other detox centers need to educate themselves on 7OH and fast because they will see a huge influx of patients looking to detox off this terrible substance. That’s all from me, thank you Paul!

Miss Tara B and Miss Laura M are two of the most helpful and ambitious counselors that I have come across in 35 yrs while in and out of multiple rehabs. Had it not been for them I certainly would not have had a safe… environment to discharge to. I would also like to say neither of them were even my assigned Case Manager but were still willing to go above and beyond on multiple occasions to help with with whatever I needed while I was there. They are two of the most down to earth staff that I have ever encountered. Conifer Park should feel honored to have them be part of their staff. You can tell they BOTH care deeply about their patients and is shows through their quality of work!. I highly recommend requesting them if that's possible if you ever need help with your recovery!

This has got to be the worst inpatient facility ever and believe all the negative reviews. It’s truly dehumanizing and disheartening how awful administrators, NPs, and the TAs here. Do not send your loved ones here. the… biggest red flag PRIOR to going into this facility was the fact that you could not get a hold of anyone. The Intake line does not answer calls. My addict loved one called about 50 times on a business day to inquire if a bed is available. I then called and I got lucky and they answered. After my loved one went into detox, he said it as a nightmare. You’re thrown in with people that are criminals (court ordered), and no security and protection for people voluntarily admitted here. They also kept giving him medications he did NOT WANT. They basically forced methadone once so that the withdrawals managed. Then he got sent to the rehab facility after a few days. From there on, it was a free for all and jail like mentality. the securities there could not care or even protect anyone. Some of them are “cool” with the troubled individuals that think they can run the floor. Fights broke out every single day. They also enforce smoke breaks which is awful considering nicotine is also addictive and you have people in there to get clean. People also sneak in drugs and weed pens by double wearing their briefs. My loved one said he took a hit of the weed pen that someone snuck in. They were also selling Suboxone strips inside there/ trade for food/snacks or clothing. My loved one expressed how the current medication they were giving him is causing headaches and nausea and they kept telling him he needs to speak to a healthcare provider. TWO WEEKS LATER and still no movement, he finally threw a fit and they finally let him see a provider and got out on the right medication that doesn’t cause headaches and that actually helps. This is seriously insane. The website is FALSELY ADVERTISED. There’s NO 1 on 1 counseling and you have to request that. There’s only group counseling. The food here is comparable to prison food. They only get 45 minutes to do any activities. the rest of the day is a free for all - watching by tv, “gangs” created there to cause trouble. The phone was always broken because of patients there and it was always crowded. They also didn’t mail out LETTERS that my loved one wrote and handed it back to him the day he left and said they didn’t get to it on time. Mind you, it was dated 28 days prior. Like what? Also, when he arrived home, he was trying to call to see how he can get his prescription or referral to our pharmacy and to his doctor. Called a million times and no answer. Also when discharging, they didn’t set up no mediator or meeting relapse prevention with the families. This place is despicable and if your loved one is dedicated to do the work to get cleaned and minding their own business, this would be ok. Otherwise, if you’re reading this, SEND THEM ELSEWHERE.

Horrible place to send anyone who needs actual help. There’s drugs being spread around in there, people and staff steal things they are so understaffed all the time my bf doesn’t get to go outside or do anything due to… no staff around. Takes forever to even get a hold of anybody on the phone for their main phone line and intake number absolutely the worst place to send a loved one here. If I could give 0 stars I would.

Conifer Park was a pretty decent place. This was my first inpatient rehab. And they have treated me pretty well. The staff on the floor and management were pretty good and helpful and cooperative. There’s the usual… bombs with any rehabs, but from what I heard this is one of the better ones. If you are a smoker, this is a place to go because they do allow smoking breaks. Overall, I’ve enjoyed the 28 day stay here and if I were to go to another rehab, this would be the place, but I’m hoping this is my last time.

Absolutely THE WORST rehab facility ever ....and that's even getting past the phone. You cannot contact or ask any questions...not even from administration!!! I am going on to further my complaint to the DOJ, DHS,… Medicaid, Medicare ...and anyone else that will care.... obviously NOT NYS they are to busy protecting MOSQUITOES!!!!!!

My care coordinator, Brandi, was kind, understanding, patient, helpful and informative. She also picks up the phone when you call! It’s difficult making the decision to check into Conifer Park, and, sometimes there’s a… lot of red tape and bureaucracy. Brandi was there for me, helping me to navigate the paperwork, sometimes the most difficult part of checking in somewhere.
