Why Trust RehabSeekers.com?

RehabSeekers is an independent behavioral health directory covering drug and alcohol addiction and mental health treatment providers.

Every listing has a source: an official register, a licensing record, or details the facility sent us.

Credentials shown honestly. Accreditation, licensing and registration listed separately.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Contact details always go direct. Calls reach the facility itself, never a call centre.

Common questions

Answered from what is listed here.

Does MetroPlus cover rehab?

Yes. MetroPlusHealth covers substance use treatment across its plans. The New York City Medicaid managed care plan covers detoxification, inpatient rehabilitation, residential addiction treatment, outpatient clinics, intensive outpatient and opioid treatment programs. Commercial, Essential Plan and Medicare plans also cover inpatient and outpatient care, with cost sharing set by the plan you hold.

Medicaid and Enhanced (HARP) members pay no premiums and no copays for covered benefits, and need no referral to see an in-network behavioral health provider.

Medicaid Rehabhttps://rehabseekers.com/insurance-accepted/medicaid/
Does MetroPlus cover detox?

Yes. Medicaid managed care through MetroPlusHealth covers medically managed withdrawal and stabilization as well as medically supervised inpatient and outpatient withdrawal. The member handbook states that prior authorization is not required for medically necessary inpatient detoxification. Level of care is decided using LOCADTR, New York's OASAS referral tool.

Crisis detox and medically supervised withdrawal are listed for adults 21 and over, and a 24/7 behavioral health crisis line runs on 1-866-728-1885.

Medicaid Detoxhttps://rehabseekers.com/insurance-accepted/medicaid/medicaid-detox/
Does MetroPlus need prior authorization for rehab?

No, not for Medicaid inpatient care. The member handbook says prior authorization is not required for medically necessary inpatient substance use services, including detoxification, rehabilitation or OASAS-authorized residential treatment. Medicare Advantage plans work differently: inpatient mental health admissions on the Platinum and Advantage plans do require prior authorization.

Care from a provider outside the network always requires prior authorization, and level of care on non-Medicare lines is set with New York's LOCADTR tool.

MetroPlus Health Plan, which trades today as MetroPlusHealth, is a health plan owned by NYC Health + Hospitals that sells coverage only to residents of the five boroughs of New York City. For anyone looking for addiction treatment, that single fact shapes the search: the network sits inside the city, and care outside it is generally paid for only in an emergency or with advance approval.

One name covers a long list of products. Medicaid Managed Care, the Enhanced (HARP) Plan, Partnership in Care HIV-SNP, Managed Long-Term Care, the Essential Plan, Child Health Plus, the marketplace tiers from BronzePlus to PlatinumPlus, the Gold Plan and GoldCare for employers, and three Medicare Advantage plans all carry substance use benefits, but the cost share, the authorization step and the pharmacy route differ by line. Behavioral health has been run in-house since October 1, 2021, when MetroPlusHealth took it back from Beacon Health Options, so the authorization call goes to the plan rather than to a separate vendor.

This guide sets out which levels of care are covered, where prior authorization and referrals apply, what a stay costs under each plan line, how medication for opioid and alcohol use disorder is paid for, and how to work out which programs in New York City hold a contract with the plan on the card.
