It's just an ok place, when you can get thru. Nothing great. Hold times to make an appointment are extremely long. They offer a call back service but don't call you back. They cancel appointments without notifying you.… Seriously find another place.

This clinic doesn't know what their doing they rescheduled my appointment three times ,because the nurse was going to be out of the office for 4 days I have a life threatening disease that needs to be treated ASAP . I… come into my appointment today i have been waiting for over an hour for an appointment that normally takes no more than 15 min. Now the receptionist is telling me that the nurse is out again .

This place has really gone down. Well to be clear....the receptionists/intake ladies have made this place go down. I've been coming here since I was a child. Never had any issues until these last couple years. I never… allow people to make me lose my cool...but this place leaves me fuming. You wait for weeks to be seen just to be told the wrong insurance is showing up. Instead of them calling the insurance eligibility line, they say I can't be seen. Like what?..I've never had this issue anywhere except here. Although it's convenient...I will be looking for a new PCP elsewhere. Update: I tried to give them another shot, but This place is still horrible. Wish I could give it a negative rating. Doctors are leaving left and right. Super hard to get anyone on the phone. I've put my number in the callback queue and left messages on Healow and never received a call back or response. Fast forward to today (over a week later) I decided I'd wait on the phone. Waited over 30 minutes on hold...just to be told that my son can't be seen because pediatrician is leaving. The options provided was to call back in a "couple weeks" to see if a new pediatrician is on board. The other option was to go to Nestor, but he wouldn't be seen until mid August. The nonchalant attitude and lack of empathy speaks volumes about this place. Not even an I'm sorry for the inconvenience. I am officially done with this place. Changing my kids to Family Health Centers.

Terrible, I attempted to make an appointment for an entire week no luck. I leave my call back number as requested but they wont call back. After a week I decided to stay on the phone, it took 1:30 min to get a… receptionist on the phone. I don't under how they are still in business. I will be changing primary care provider after my appointment. One year updates same situation I was on the phone for 1 hour and 10 minutes just to get a receptionist not just that they were extremely rude. Worst experience by far.

I am writing to formally express my extreme dissatisfaction with the care and service I have received as a patient over the past year. While the nursing and support staff are professional and knowledgeable, the… administrative and clinical management of the practice is unacceptable. In my time as a patient, I have yet to meet a doctor. After waiting six months for an appointment, I was informed the physician had left and I was assigned to a new one I still have not met. Furthermore, following a televisit, I was issued a prescription that the pharmacy could not fill because the provider's license had reportedly expired. Communication with your office is also deeply problematic. It is nearly impossible to reach anyone by phone. After I used the patient portal as a necessary alternative, a staff member named Jason disabled my access, claiming I had "abused" the system. I found his tone patronizing and his actions unjustified, as the portal was my only functional means of contact. As a full-time professional, I require a healthcare provider that is accessible and reliable. Given these ongoing issues with physician availability, licensing, and patient communication, I can no longer trust this facility with my health and will reassign as soon as my referral procedures are complete. Trust me when I say go somewhere else! Regards,

I was looking for prenatal care and was coming from out of state. I called in November for a January appointment. I called at the beginning of December to confirm, I was told it was booked as establishing care with a… pcp. I explained to the girl on the phone that I needed an OB. She informed me that she went ahead and canceled the appointment and booked me for early January with an OB, and provided me a fax number to transfer records. My records fully transferred by the beginning of January and I got a call from IB clinic asking me if I have prenatal care. I laughed and said it was supposed to be them and they told me I had no upcoming appointments with them but we can get scheduled. I let them know that I’ll be halfway through my pregnancy by the time I arrive and I need to be seen by an OB right away, she scheduled me for the end of January. The appointment finally arrives and the Dr tells me that he’s not an OB, but a family doctor and that the clinic has no OBs. I informed him that the ladies at the front desk told me he was an OB and he said this issue has happened before and apologized. Issues with scheduling, taking forever to answer the phones, and misinformation. Not the place I remember going to as a kid.

The first time that I used their dentist, they were unable to determine the cause of the pain so I went to a dentist in Tijuana. They found a cavity below the gum line. Tijuana dentists are better than their dentists.… On my second attempt to use their dentist, I needed a cleaning so I made an appointment for a cleaning then they refused to perform the cleaning. They wanted to perform an examination and take x-rays instead. They claimed it was necessary before a cleaning but then said if I allowed them to bill for an examination and x-rays that they still wouldn't clean my teeth. This is the first time in my life that a made an appointment for a dental cleaning then was refused a dental cleaning. Sure, exams are usually paired with cleanings but if the appointment is for a cleaning then you need to perform a cleaning. You don’t just do what you want regardless of patient needs. They took an appointment for a cleaning but wouldn’t actually do it. They made me wait a month to not complete the needed service. When I decided to leave without letting them bill for x-rays and an exam, they became curt. They acted like I was a problem when they took an appointment for a service that they had no intention of performing. While I was walking out, they yelled down the hall to accuse me of stealing the cheap glasses that they put on patients. They were my prescription sunglasses. I walked in with them and had them in my hands during the entire conversation. The entire experience was insulting. They wasted my time then accused me of being a thief. My experience with the healthcare side is much better. Dental is worthless. Random TJ dentists are more professional and do better work.

I broke my ankle, i had to wait days to come here and they rushed through it and all they gave me was a referral, the doctor didn’t specify which pharmacy my medication was sent to, and when i tried calling about it… they didn’t ask for any of my info and instantly put me on hold for 10 minutes, i eventually hung up. It disgusts me how many people in health care act negligent to people in pain seeking care.

UPDATE: I had to bump down my 2 starts to one because unfortunately, I can't put ZERO. The call center issue hasn't been addressed' if anything, it has gotten WORSE. I called last week, was first in line and when… someone answered after 5-10 minutes if waiting, they hung up. I called again and ended up 5th in queue with a 20 minute wait. When the operator answered, SHE DID NOT CARE. I had asked to speak to the director or a manager and didn't bother to check if anyone was even in. She just said "um, she's not here today". I've never seen a clinic run without any leadership present... but anyway, supposedly she sent SOMEONE a message to get back to me but I'm under the impression that she didn't- per usual from that clinic. They don't care, I feel like its only MAs and Office students just trying to get through their externships there, a great way for a crappy clinic to save money. Bring back the old staff!! The staff that I'm now starting to think LEFT due to how horribly this place is being managed. I’ve been a patient here for over 10 years. I have to say, the doctors we’ve had here are by far, THE BEST! Except for one doctor. The staff downstairs WERE amazing! Until they changed them out to completely new ones who are the worst. They’re nice, but can’t seem to communicate important information or get back to you when you put your number down for a callback. For example, I had important paperwork that my daughter’s school had been on me about getting back to them. I dropped them off last Thursday. I completely understood why her doc couldn’t sign until Friday due to his availability. I was expecting to be told by Monday they were ready. But nope!!! They were definitely ready by that Friday. But the girls never called to let me know. Instead, I had to call, someone at Nestor answered and even they couldn’t get a hold of anyone at IB. But I was assured by her that there was a message stating the paperwork was ready. The Nestor gals had to be the ones to help me out for IB, per usual. Please bring back the previous staff!!!

I cannot say enough good things about Nurse Practitioner Opara. She has been absolutely wonderful to me and my family. She takes the time to truly listen, explains things clearly, and always makes us feel cared for and… respected. Her professionalism, compassion, and dedication go above and beyond what we could ever hope for in a healthcare provider. We are very grateful to have her as part of our care team and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for excellent medical care.

Terrible service... I've been trying to refill my prescriptions for two weeks and it's all just empty promises... They keep passing the buck, saying it's finally ready or that they'll send a message to the doctor,… nurse, or supervisor... The phone hold service is also inadequate. The recording tells you it will take one or two minutes or more, and when you ask them to call you back, they do, but not until the next day... The service is HORRIBLE.

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing this message with a sincere and heartfelt plea for your attention and support. I’ve been a patient at your Imperial Beach clinic for some time, though I had stopped attending for a… while. The reason was the constant turnover of doctors and the inconsistency in care. Each time I called, I was assigned to someone new—sometimes even someone in a different state. It became incredibly disheartening, and I felt like just another number in a system that prioritized volume over quality care. But despite my hesitation, I decided to give the clinic one last chance—and I’m so grateful that I did. That’s when I met Dr. Chin. From the very first appointment, he demonstrated a level of care, attentiveness, and compassion that I had been missing. He listens, he understands, and he never rushes. Unlike past experiences where appointments felt like an assembly line, Dr. Chin takes his time and truly sees his patients as people—not just cases. Today, even while visibly unwell, Dr. Chin showed up to work. His dedication moved me deeply. It’s not often you encounter a provider so committed to their patients, and it inspired me—not just to keep coming back, but to take my health seriously again. When you have a doctor who genuinely understands you and your diagnosis, it makes all the difference. I don’t know who will read this, but I truly hope it reaches someone in a position to recognize what a rare and invaluable asset Dr. Chin is. He deserves to be acknowledged, supported, and appreciated for the incredible work he does. Please—if there’s anything you can do to support or reward Dr. Chin, I implore you to do so. Patients like me are better off because of him, and I know I’m not alone in feeling this way. With sincere gratitude, Miguel Angel Martinez II

They never answer the phone. I was on hold for an hour, going from being the first call to the fifth, and they never answered me. It's almost impossible to get through. It's a shame that there are such good doctors… there, but the receptionists do a terrible job. They always answer rudely and don't care about your concerns, no matter how much you try to explain. It's very frustrating trying to talk to them. If you ask for a number to complain or ask to speak to someone, they refuse.
